3.5/5 - Good if you manage your expectations :)

Reviewed Mar 21, 2022
For about $200/night it was perfectly adequate and I would stay again. Here is a detailed and factual review:

-for context, our group consisted of 3 women; 22, 42, and 44 years old.

-this place is right on one of the main drags in Palm Springs and is a 20-30 minute walk straight into downtown. There aren't really any stores or restaurants close by, but a 15-minute (or so) walk should get you places. Also, make sure you request a room that's not facing that road because it does have light but steady traffic.

-we requested a quiet room at booking; they put us in room 219, which was pretty far from the pool and the main road. This would have been good except that it's also right at the top of the stairs and a garbage can is 2 feet from the door, both of which created a fair disturbance at times. That said, it wasn't noisier than any other average hotel we've stayed in.

-the room was spacious and tidy

-we used a couple of disinfecting wipes to do an extra clean when we got there, and a fair amount of dirt came off. That said, we did see cleaning staff sanitizing some high-touch areas during our stay.

-The decor was certainly dated, but updated hotels cost more, so pick your battles.

-The beds were soft because of thick mattress pads. Pillows were squishy. There was a big brown stain on one mattress, but it was at the foot of the bed on the bottom of the corner, so it didn't bother us. It would have been hidden by the fitted sheet, but those weren't deep enough so they kept slipping off the corners. (I don't like sleeping on a loose sheet, so this was a bit uncomfortable.) The covers consisted of a top sheet and a very thin blanket (plus a decorative coverlet that was too small to be included as bedding- it's just a strip of fabric). When the blanket was tucked into the end of the mattress, it only came up mid-chest. When untucked so that you could cover your shoulders, it constantly slid around and off the bed. The mattresses had noteable humps in the middle which made you slant toward the edge a bit, but nothing too crazy. All in all, I found the bed comfortable but the bedding could be improved.

-The shower was fine, except: why is it that women in our society are expected to have hairless legs, yet the people that build hotels (mostly men, of course) haven't given us the courtesy of including some sort of shelf or ledge in the shower so that we can shave our legs? Even a footstool would be a blessing.

-We couldn't get the A/C unit to work the way we wanted it to and there were no instructions. Playing around with it finally worked on the 3rd night. Good thing it's still fairly cool overnight in PS at this time of year.

-The pool was perfectly adequate- clean and a good size, with lots of deck space around it.

-The hot tub is fine but looked a bit murky when we went in the one night, and the odd shape of it means that not too many people can enjoy it at once- it's comfortable for about 8 adults if you wanna be cozy.

-The grassy area was invaluable. It was nice to have something a bit lush in the middle of the desert, and it offered a space to lay your towel if you couldn't get a chair around the pool- which was often. There are also covered cabanas with 14 or so lounge chairs, which is really nice. The green space, for me, creates an oasis-like feeling for the whole place. You really don't feel like you're on the main drag when you're there.

-The pool chairs desperately need replacing. Half were the vinyl-strip kind, and almost every one had at least 1, if not 3 or 4 strips missing. The other half were far worse- they bought gravity chairs, and they're all stained with water, sweat, sunscreen and who knows what else. Icky.

-There is a poolside bar and restaurant but no one serving around the pool. This seems like a major missed opportunity for me. I would have had several more drinks if someone had come around. Instead you have to go in and wait, which I saw take anywhere from 5-20 minutes. Also, they have no vegan options on the menu, which is not acceptable these days, and meant we had to eat off-site for every meal.

-There are GREAT vegan/vegan friendly restaurants within a 2 minute drive in either direction. Palm Greens and Native Foods were our both incredible with tons of choices for vegans and otherwise.

-This place is dog friendly!! As dog lovers, it was heart-warming to see them when missing our own.

-There was a key pad on the pool gate but it was not working, so, in fairness, anyone could walk in and you wouldn't know whether they were staying there or not. There are zero staff monitoring the pool area, so it's not the most secure, but it's tucked away from the main road so it's not like random people would just wander in off the street (though they could, if they knew about it). This said, we never felt unsafe- this is just a note for those who might. We didn't get a sketchy vibe at all during our stay. The one benefit of the pool area being unmanned is that even though they say you can't bring in outside food and drinks, no one is monitoring it if you do. And everyone seemed to take advantage of that.

-my daughter was in the middle of a shower, covered in soap, when the water went off. I called the front desk and they said maintenance was working on something and there would be no water for 30 minutes. I asked for suggestions, and they said to talk to the management the next day. They were unsympathetic and offered only mechanical "sorry"'s. She had to rinse with whatever was left in our water bottles. No warning was given and no compensation was offered, which I found unacceptable. Other than that, the staff were all really friendly and helpful.

Considering all these points, this place is good for what you pay. Yes, there were some issues, but overall we had a nice and relaxing stay. If they update the rooms and pool chairs, and add a poolside server, room rates will go up. so I guess we should be happy that decent, budget-friendly places like this exist!

this dog friendly property has good amenities (parking, on site drinks and food) and a nice amount of space at the pool area. The beds are comfortable, and rooms are quiet but could be cleaner (door jams, carpet, tile).

Room tip: 144 was lower level near ice, soda and pool

I booked a couple of nights here for an event I had to attend in Palm Springs this past week. I've stayed at this property a few times in the past without incident - it was always pretty basic, but adequate for a place to shower and sleep. During my last visit, however, I was horrified at how filthy and poorly maintained my room was. The carpet was filthy. The bathroom toilet seat was stained and pock-marked. The air conditioner was ancient and only blew out barely-cool air. The mattress was lumpy and saggy. The sheets was threadbare and musty. The Internet connection/speed felt like something we had to endure 20 years ago in the early days of WiFi. The drapes were not blackout and did not provide full privacy at night. The alarm clock was broken. The bathroom reeked of sweat and urine.

I could go on, but frankly, I'd rather not have to think about my stay there any further. I am completely stunned at how horribly the current management has run this place into the ground. It's badly in need of renovation and a much better housekeeping staff. I won't go near it again.

Room tip: Don't book here until they renovate

My stay was mediocre at best. There were no blackout curtains in the room…in Palm Springs. Be prepared to be awoken by the desert sun in your eyes coming through the sheer panels at 6:30 every morning. When I booked it was mentioned that the rooms are renovated, but that must’ve been decades ago. The shower water pressure was terrible and the temperature was either way too hot or freezing cold. I would not stay again unless every other place was sold out.

Room tip: Bring an eye mask.

The hotel's website states "luxurious rooms." (See attached screen shot from CT website) Companion & I stayed here 4 nights & this is clearly an overreach. We were happy with many aspects of our stay; nice location, lush clean grounds, cool pool area with wooden tropical tiki decor and polite & helpful staff.
The rooms were another story. The bed & furniture were old. The blanket was so old it was well worn. The wall air-conditioner was noisy. The complimentary room coffee was terrible quality. The bathroom was tiny.
When I questioned the front desk about the luxurious rooms, they told me they would be putting a lot of money into this place this summer.
This hotel was reasonably priced for the area. I understand I need to do more research on accommodations & we have to spend more money. "You get what you pay for."

The carpet in Room 202 is disgusting, large dark stains and very dirty. The pillows are lumpy and the bed is uncomfortable. I did not use the whirlpool or the pool as both needed to be cleaned. The location is convenient. I would not recommend this hotel.
