Myself and my partner got a really good offer (£1100 as opposed to 4K from TUI and others) after shopping around to explore Atrium Palace near Kalathos pebble beach in Rhodes. Location is isolated but easy transport to get you to where you want to go so we didn't mind that, especially we're not the night owl type of people.
Our main downfalls aren't actually with the hotel itself and more with the agent. But it's good to start with negatives:
As with most reviews I've seen, the buffet is a bit bland, no seasoning and cold, however my partner loved it so I wasn't too bothered. Different themed nights, our favourite being the Asian night. They do have entrees available, but they were brought out within 2 minutes and stone cold. But a quick switch to buffet was fine for me. Complimentary :)
Second was no lifeguard which was quite shocking to see. Again we weren't bothered by this as we're in our early twenties and strong swimmers. It's also not too deep but a warning for families with children.
The entertainment I did get bored off very quickly. However, Encore the rock band (Wow 🤩) , a south African trio, and the footloose dance show, bloody ace!! I also think there could be more activities such as pool sports like water polo, and other night time activities like quiz and karaoke. Makes it more fun for families and couples like us.
I really think there needs to be a smoking area in the main area. Balconies, I'm not bothered about. But for the kids health especially, I don't want to be breathing in smoke the sun bed or the table next to us 😷
Now for positives and there are a lot of them. I love the layout of the resort, it's very clean and tidy and whereas people say it's dated, you have to remember it's styled as ancient history, and for that, it's spot on!
The spa experience we had was just lush. This was something completely different for us as we've never had something like this before, and the therapists were amazing and the real deal. My partner went for relaxed and I wanted a more medium pressure which took a lot of knots out of me.
And I have to say, a lot of people went out of their way for our stay. A really young waitress with a nose piercing was lovely and a young middle aged blonde lady was also great in looking after us for breakfast. Beatrice!! Wow, great service at the bar, very lovely to chat to. And I cannot forget the butler and PR manager for being very welcoming and giving us a tour when we checked it rather late. Sorry I can't remember their names.
Oh and my partner loved the cats... Many many cats.
Overall, I do recommend giving it a go here if you're adventurous like us because as a base it was superb. I can't say it's 5 star. 4 star for the hotel but the service is an easy 10/10, despite the slight human mistake here and there and laugh it off. However just based on location and wanting to explore more I wouldn't return to this one, but maybe Platinum or Prestige?
