This resort is a 3-star at best. The maintenance is several years behind, making it a very distressed property with many areas that need catching up.

We spent 4 nights at this resort, and during that time, I was bedridden for 2 days with fever, chills, nausea, diarrhea, and a splitting headache. Immediately after returning to our hometown, my wife drove me to the ER, where I was diagnosed with food poisoning. I ended up being hospitalized for 2 days. Thankfully, I survived it.

The sanitation in the buffet dining area is very concerning. They have table placemats on every table with silverware placed directly on top of them. While it may look nice, the issue is that the staff don't change or sanitize the placemats. I witnessed people spitting food or leaving food residues on them, and the staff simply wiped them and placed clean individual spoons, forks, and knives on top. If there is a virus on the placemats, it could easily spread.

The rooms have numerous issues. The first room had a broken knob on the shower, so we could only use the hand shower. Additionally, the balcony door couldn't even close. We requested repairs, but they weren't done even hours after our initial request. Eventually, the front desk gave us another room, which unfortunately turned out to be a downgrade. The beds were smaller, and everything looked older. Moreover, the TV and phone didn't work properly. To make matters worse, the room directly faced the main pool, and loud music played there every afternoon.

Initially, I thought the food was decent until I got really sick. I stayed away from salads and sushi and tried everything else, yet I still ended up with food poisoning.

On a positive note, the flamingos and peacocks on the premises are beautiful, and the beach is clean and enjoyable, although it is quite narrow.

I have been to 4-star resorts in both Mexico and Puerto Rico, and the one in Mexico surpasses this resort by at least 2 notches in almost every aspect. Most importantly, I did not get sick during my 7-day stay in Cancun, whereas I fell ill after only 2 days at this resort.

I booked a 2 week vacation through Sunwing. I was ready to come home after 10 days.
The swim up rooms smell like wet laundry when you walk in, the showers flood your whole room, the mosquitos are unbearable.

That being said, the resort is quite pretty and the birds are friendly. Beach isn't the best.

Travelling solo to get some rest and relaxation, the staff were not helpful as they don't even try to speak English (or pretend that they can't). Front desk workers especially. UNTIL the final day when asking for a good review.

The reservation touchscreen for Special Dinners machine didn't work (but they send you there without telling you). Asking for a printout of the reservations made was like I was speaking Alien and they couldn't figure out what I wanted (3 times!) Restaurant staff were not professional and very confused. None of them were personable or treated you like an individual customer (if I didn't like something ordered they just cleared the plate - dint ask if I wanted something else or why I didn't like it). The buffet cleanliness was scary. Same cloth used to wipe down tables after diners leave - placemats shaken off but not changed or cleaned at all. Staff were like robots - didn't smile or interact - very hard to get any kind of service. Yet they want tips? Candita the morning egg chef was the only friendly girl (but I tipped her every morning until she started to recognize me).

No-one would help me figure out how the cigarette machine at the bar worked, so I went to the Tobacconist who was Amazing! Allison helped me and made me laugh every time I went to see him.

The shows for the evening are posted at the Theatre, but there was no information about activities anywhere. I didn't find out about Yoga on the beach until day 8, there was bingo on Sunday at the theater which I only saw when I waked by.

I will admit I normally cruise, so my expectations for friendly helpful staff may be higher than most, but with no-one saying hello or acknowledging you - it leads to a dreary time.

Front desk staff do not have any hospitality training that I could see. It felt like this is the resort where staff come after they fail at the better resorts...

The hotel is big, spacious and beautiful. The property and rooms are well kept with daily prompt room service. The staff are friendly and accommodating even with limited Spanish I could get around and get by very easily. They have very good customer service and has a good supply of fresh foods daily for most part. The buffet selections were good and I love the fresh squeezed juices they provided daily and the local fruit selections. There are plenty options for lounging and relaxation on the beach and in the lobby. Everyone greats you with a genuine smile. We loved our stay, we know no where is perfect so Vista Sol you definitely outdid our expectations and we will not only return but recommend your lovely resort. There are a few hiccups I would like to highlight- 1 no iron in the room, no laundry bag you have to ask for it. No wash rags only towels and toiletries, no wifi in room only around the resort which fluctuates from fast speed to none existent. The drink selections are limited and fish bones in the salad. These are fixable things and did not detract from my experience not one bit. I would return today if I could because the staff and other amenities made the stay an enjoyable experience. We loved our waitress Bether who was always smiling and accommodating she even remembered my order from the previous day and that was very good seeing she has many people who she attends to each day. Mike from the lobby bar was also amazing and my spouse who doesn't speak any Spanish felt comfortable ordering his drinks and chilling at the bar. Our front desk agent who was most helpful was Junior he spoke English well and assisted us with a genuine smile. Mr Ferrin the bell man was very resourceful and very helpful, he went above and beyond to get us our ride to the airport. Thank you sir we appreciate you. Gracias Señor Ferrin estas magnifico. Mr Marino from front desk was also very cordial. We loved our stay and will definitely add it to our vlogs of recommended places to stay in Punta Cana.
