Just what we were looking for. This area of the resort is private (VIK Cayena Beach). There were many time-share owners who have been coming for many years. It is attached to the larger resort called VIK Arena Blanca.
As a Cayena guest, we had access to both resorts. Arena guests are limited to the Arena side only. We genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. This resort is very small which gives a personal touch. We felt safe (security guards at every entrance) and got to know other guests and some of the staff (if I knew how to speak Spanish, I would have engaged them all).
Our room wasn’t fancy but it was somewhat updated (in the last 3 years). It was clean and very comfortable. It included two double beds and a pullout couch in the sitting area. The refrigerator and bathroom were stocked daily.
We ate breakfast in the buffet, and dinner at the a la carte restaurant which rotated between Mexican, Italian and International. Italian was our favourite.
The beach directly in front of the private resort is washed but you can enjoy the beach to the right or left (2-3 km stretch). There were plenty of sunbeds and loungers in the elevated area in from the beach so there was not a need to "reserve"/hold a spot at 7 AM.
The lunch menu at Cayena Beach was amazing. We ate there every day. We plan to visit next year. I imagine it was busier and more lively pre-covid. The Arena side was only at 40% capacity. The nightlife, unfortunately, was dismal. But the staff tried so I give them an A for their efforts. I hope, for the sake of the resort, business picks up. I heard that a lot of staff were let go because of less bookings. So sad. We tipped a bit more than usual to help out the workers. Just one CON: we backed onto the adjacent resort which played loud music until 11:30 PM (for two nights out of the seven).
