Hotel El Velero is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The rooms are lovely and recently renovated. You can’t beat the location, it’s 25 mins from the airport and right on the beach 🏝️
The food was delish with generous portion sizes. All the staff were super friendly, polite and professional.
It’s a little bit of paradise within paradise. I look forward to returning.
We had a wonderful time in this very laid-back, peaceful place. It is secluded and perfectly located on the beach. The restaurant is good with some great specialties. Clean and a very friendly helpful staff. This ios a very quiet place to visit to get away and unwind.
Superb beach location, very well designed and newly renovated rooms, everything worked perfectly. Pool area and restaurant were great, although we only ate breakfast there which was reasonably priced and done right. Only complaint and why not 5 stars was the doors to all rooms close very loudly and kept us awake until the last person down our hallway entered their room at night. The door frames need some rubber dampeners, or something to absorb the slam of wood on wood in a concrete hallway, seems like a simple solution and confusing there are none yet. Secured parking right at the hotel is awesome and lots of new condition beach chairs/loungers.
My wife and I stayed at the El Velero hotel for 6 nights and we throughly enjoyed the experience. It was our first trip to the beautiful country of Costa Rica, The hotel was everything we were looking for including value, cleanliness, location to beach, pool, bar, restaurant, and concierge. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff was always willing to help answer any questions we had about things to do, and made tour reservations and taxi reservations for us many times during our stay. Fishing and snorkeling/sunset cruises pick you up on the beach right in front of the hotel! Restaurant servers and chefs/cooks were excellent. Good breakfast/lunch/dinner options on the menu. There was a rumor that modifications might be coming soon in 2024 that will expand the pool area and enlarge the dining area, but can't confirm. If you are looking for a 5-star Resort/ Spa, this is not your hotel. However, this hotel is on the beach, very clean, excellent staff, and an excellent value. We plan on returning to Costa Rica again later this year and will stay at the El Velero again if our plans take us back to Playa Hermosa in Guanacaste.
Totally great experience. From the greeting at reception, to all the restaurant and service staff, everyone went out of their way to make sure that you had a great time. Food was amazing, and the beach is steps away. Breakfast is a must, take advantage of the food and friendly staff.
