Big busy resort best suited to families

Reviewed Aug 22, 2022via mobile
Big busy resort with heaps to do. Fantastic for families with heaps of kids activities, kids club, and cheap babysitting at $6 per hour.

Resort was 93% full when we were there with 600+ guests. Couple of slipups in service. Booked early for dinner at the Black coral; Somehow our order vanished for 2 of 4 guests. Well rectified by manager Justin when we complained after 1 hour+ of waiting - free drinks and meals after it was brought to his attention.

Shortstay of three days. Difficulty booking in for dives. My partner manage to dive first day. Thought he was booked for day two-turns out he wasn’t. Couldn’t get another dive in. Book early!

Last night dinner at Lomani (adults only) next door-outstanding. Similar prices to plantation island; much better service and food with a great band. Recommend it!

We stayed at plantation island resort for 5 nights and it was 4 nights too long. We were dropped off at our room which was the middle of a group of three and had two interconnecting rooms either side. The walls were so thin that we could clearly hear both families on either sides conversations. We requested to move and were told that the upgrade would be an extra $60 per night. We agreed. When we arrived at our new room it was a third of the size of the first room, but more expensive! The rooms are very run down and basic.
The food is horrific. Breakfast buffet consistently offered left overs from the nights before buffet dinner offerings and was gluggy and cold. We were told on arrival that one of the restaurants was adults only, reception then told us that all restaurants are family friendly.
We hired a nanny for our 15mth old while we went on a snorkel trip, the nanny didn’t turn up so we missed our trip. We rebooked for the next day and a man arrived to look after our son. He has little to no English! We walked our son over to the kids club and requested that the nanny stay at the kids club with our son. Later that day we ran into the nanny and he was in the maintenance crew uniform! They had sent a maintenance man to look after our baby!
We paid to go on a dolphin cruise. We didn’t see dolphins. Now I know that they can’t guarantee we would see them but no one we spoke to saw dolphins on the dolphin cruise in the time we were there.
The beach and sunsets were stunning but that’s the only thing this resort has to offer and you can get that at many other resorts.
There’s no wifi anywhere on the resort and supplies are overpriced! 2 icecreams, 2 cans of drink and 2 chocolate bars $40AU
The staff were disinterested and frankly couldn’t be bothered and their English was very basic compared to other places we stayed
Overall we were very disappointed and won’t be back.

What an incredible break. The people, the ocean, the food, the weather- just amazing. To Mikaeli a big thank you for going all out to find some 00 wine for me in Nadi. To Tia (shortened) your friendly smile and welcome each day in Coppa was awesome

Room tip: I don't think there is a bad room in the hotel.

On arrival after long day of travel the check in was chaotic/noisy with large group of people, which made it hard to hear instructions. We were asked to present meal vouchers for our meal plan, but we weren't aware we needed these. They took our itinerary, and told us we could collect it and our vouchers the next day - went to collect the next day, and were told we didn't need vouchers after all. Only 2 of our bags were delivered to our room - took an hour, and a surfboard belonging to someone else, before our 3rd bag arrived. The furnishings in our garden room were very tired looking, more like what you'd see in a budget backpackers - certainly didn't look like the brochures. Signage around the resort was poor, which made getting around difficult. Would have been helpful to have had a booklet in each room detailing what was available. Rooms were to be serviced every 2nd day, but this didn't happen - had to ask for fresh towels on day 3, and toilet paper on day 4! Staff seemed confused about basic stuff ie where to buy laundry powder - was told to go to resort shop, only to find out I had to go to mini mart. Drinks service in the restaurants very slow, with drinks often arriving when mains were almost finished. Staff were lovely and happy to help, although clearly there weren't enough of them. 11 yr grandson enjoyed the waterpark and pools. Maintenance needs to be done to bring accommodation up to standard - thought it was probably Covid related, but reviews prior to 2020 say things were looking tired back then - people will start going elsewhere if this isn't addressed. And I got a gastro bug on our last day :-( Loved the swimming and snorkeling but would try another resort next time, in the hope of a more all-round satisfying experience.

After 3 nights at the Radisson it was an absolutely treat to get away to the beautiful Plantation Island , stunning beach and fabulous variety of activities for kids !
The accommodation we booked was a Beachfront Bure , it was in the best location , great views and footsteps from the beach. The buffet was great but it made it super special when greeted morning and night by the gorgeous Miele, she was a real delight and a true asset to the team at Plantation! The next star that must be mentioned is Sami he was INCREDIBLE! He would think of things before you needed them, always went the extra mile and made us feel so special on our holiday , we love him! These two in particular are so loved by us and other guests we spoke too! Thanks Plantation for the great time and these two particular gems 💎

Family of 3 generations had a fantastic holiday. Staff are great and location supreme. I can understand some of the reviews that are less than top rated but they ignore this is a 3.5 star resort that is far better than that. Good food, good amenities and excellent time enjoyed by all. Would come back with family any time. Probably choose an adult only resort if not with kids.
