We have just arrived home after a lovely 14 nights at DT Hilton Marjan Island.
We checked in at about 11pm, it was quick and efficient and we received a famous Hilton Cookie.
We stayed in room 1726(7th Floor), it was a lovely room, very clean spacious with the biggest bathroom I’ve seen in a hotel. We were right at the end of the corridor which was great as we were never disturbed by anyone. Our balcony was tiny, but it was so humid you couldn’t really sit out on it anyway so wasn’t an issue.
The entire resort is absolutely spotless and the staff work really hard to maintain it.
The staff in all areas are really good. They are polite and professional. A big shout out to Rabi at the adult pool bar who was always so cheerful even when it was boiling hot.
The beach is clean with lots of available sun beds. The sea is so warm, which I am sure is lovely if it wasn’t 50 degrees lol.
We mainly stayed at the adults pool. The lifeguards ensured that no children were allowed in the area. The loungers were comfortable. It is well maintained and the pool is lovely and cool. Plenty of sun beds available. Was nice to have the floating cushions for everyone to use.
We stayed on an All Inclusive basis, which was good but the main restaurant is so busy with people pushing in from all directions, a bit of a free for all. The food is a bit limited. So we felt we had no choice but to use the a La carte restaurants and pay the difference. Which for us was on average £50 per visit.
Breakfast - Good selection of hot and cold dishes, cereal, pastries etc. We preferred it when the Brasserie was open at breakfast time. It was just more relaxed, however the main restaurant does have a 16+ Seating area.
Lunch - We mainly eat at the pool area, and used our 60aed each day. The Ceaser salad was delicious and meant we didn’t have to use the really busy main restaurant.
Dinner - The main restaurant was quite limited and busy. We visited all the a la carte restaurants.
Meze - Very nice with lots of choice from the menu. I had the Mousaka which was very nice.
Asian - Portions were massive and food was tasty
Italian - Very nice authentic Italian food. The carbonara risotto was really good.
Brasserie - By far our favourite, food was absolutely delicious.
I would suggest that management consider a set AI menu at each a La carte restaurant where you don’t have to worry about going over the 60aed limit person. It would ensure the main restaurant is not so busy at peak times.
We asked how much it would be to upgrade to Ultra All Inclusive and was quoted over 650aed per person per night, which would have cost over £4000 extra… defo not worth it. However if we were to return again we would see if we could get a deal with a travel agent when booking as some people only seemed to pay £200 extra. It would just mean we wouldn’t have to use the main restaurant for dinner and worth the extra couple of hundred pounds but not more than that.
Weather in June / July is very hot, but all inside areas of the hotel have fab air con. The evenings are very humid so you cannot eat outside.
We were a little disappointed that we were not informed that the reception and lobby area was going to be refurbished during our stay, which meant the adult only bar on the 9th floor was open to everyone. Which meant no really quiet spot for people without children.
Overall we had a great holiday, and would consider returning again in the future but would look to book UAI just to avoid the main restaurant in the evening.
