It’s hard to describe Kuta Puri Hotel and Bungalows as a “hidden gem” in Kuta as it’s one of the few original Kuta Hotels left in the area. But yes, because of development in the area Kuta Puri has now become a hidden gem in the area!
I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Kuta and to be able to go to Kuta and still be able to stay in an old style Balinese hotel with its amazing gardens and frangipani trees make going to Kuta that even more special.
Located just at the entrance to Poppies Lane 1 the hotel is in a fabulous location and when you are in the grounds you wouldn’t believe that you are in Kuta!
As you drive up to the open plan reception you realise that you’re staying somewhere special and authentic Balinese. The staff always welcome you with a smile and they all remember your name which is a really nice touch.
The reception area is lovely and traditional and the check in process is very simple. The staff then assist you to your room and explain everything about the room and the hotel.
So as the hotel is very traditional you still have a physical key with a large plastic keyring on it with the room number. This is not an issue as you can either hold onto it or hand it in at reception when you go to the beach or out for the day.
The other cool thing is the plastic pool towel card where you exchange your card for a pool towel and vice versa when you finish! It’s just these little things that make the place unique and keeping the old style traditions!
Now I have stayed in both a Delux Bungalow at Kuta Puri and a Delux Ground floor room with terrace which was my room on this trip.
I had the Bungalow on a November trip where the rate was much lower than in August which is the high season so for the same rate as the bungalow in Nov I now decided on the Delux room as to be honest as a solo traveller it’s all I needed! The bungalow was lovely but far too big for just me!
The grand delux rooms are massive with very large and very comfy bed. The room has the best aircon ever and it’s very quiet! Plenty of storage space, a dressing table, couch, safe, fridge, tv, and plenty of plug sockets! The bathroom is in 2 parts, the first door takes you into the area with the toilet, sink and Bath but there’s also a door into the shower and drying area which is massive with a walk in shower that’s very powerful!! So if you like a big room there’s no worries at Kuta Puri. Your room is always made up first thing in the morning and nearly every day mine was made up before I got back from breakfast at 8:30!! The housekeeping would ask me if it was ok to clean the room as I left for breakfast or I just placed the card on the door to make up the room!
When you walk out the room you have the amazing gardens to walk about with the pool area in the centre!
There are 2 pools next to each other at the hotel. One pool is deeper with a swim up bar that is great for drinks but they are not the cheapest but to be honest I can accept paying a bit more for the pool service and the experience. The bar does cold beers and lots of amazing cocktails! You can also order food which is brought from the restaurant to your sun lounger or pool bar! Paying is simple as you just sign it to your room and pay on departure or whenever you wish during your stay at the reception.
The 2nd pool is shallower and is aimed as the kids pool. But you can use any of the 2.
Sunbeds there are plenty of round the pools and they are very comfortable with padded covers and also umbrellas are at every 2 beds.
It’s a lovely pool area with a nice atmosphere and I always feel that the guests chat away to each other and I have always made new friends on all my visits to the hotel.
The restaurant is lovely and they do a fantastic breakfast with lots of options from continental (cereal, cakes, fruit etc) to the Asian offering and also you have an egg station where you can also order sausage, bacon and beans which is fresh cooked for you. The offering for breakfast is fantastic and there is something for everyone there.
The staff at Kuta Puri are brilliant! There is always somone on hand to assist you if needed and the gardeners are always out making sure the place looks it’s very best which it always does! The pool staff work so hard during the day and always making amazing drinks and the reception staff cannot do enough for you and are always on hand to help.
The hotel offers a free airport transfer if you stay for a set number of nights and it’s very simple to arrange.
So if you are looking at staying at Kuta Puri and want assurance you are picking a brilliant hotel for your Kuta stay then I promise you that you will love the hotel as it’s the best in Kuta for it’s very reasonable price.
Personally I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Kuta as this place has it all.
Wayan and your team, thanks again for a fabulous stay and see you in August next year 🙏
