Just returned early this morning from a week's stay at this great hotel. For the price we paid it was great
The staff, food, entertainment team, hotel and amenities were all wonderful. They go out of their way to make you feel special and nothing is too much trouble. It's a short walk into town and a little further to the beach. Also a short taxi to Old Town and Soho Square, which are both worth a visit.
Food was varied, not especially designed for Western tastes but nice to try different things. If you have a preference for something like some chips then they will make it for you. Breakfast was ok, although some dishes a little strange for Westerners, but most days you could get fresh omletes or pancakes. We would have loved to see cereal or muesli and yoghurt, as that's our preference at home, but unfortunately not. The drinks were ok, not massively varied to be honest and only local stuff but it did the job.
Osama the restaurant manager was very attentive and even organised a special candle lit meal for my wife and I, which was lovely..thank you!
If you see Mohammed at the travel desk he will sort you out for trips and taxis at a reasonable price. Make sure you take British currency in notes, (not Scottish) as you will get a far superior exchange rate everywhere, of about 50 LE to the £ rather than 37 from the bank. The reason is everyone wants sterling due to currency shortage.
The room was a good size and cleaned daily. Furniture a little dated and beds were ok if a little hard (but we prefer that). The shower was a little cooler than we would have liked but it depended on what time you got in and how long you left it running.
Make sure you pack some mosquito spray as they were annoying.
Now for the complaint......not about the hotel but for a guy called David and his brother. We overheard David constantly moaning about the hotel, staff and amenities but bragging about how little he paid for the holiday. I think he wanted 5 star for B&B prices. Also he tried to get other people to join the gang and complain. On his first day on 6th Dec he left a horrible trip advisor review (have a look below). But if there was an issue then he should have given them chance to fix things before posting it on the first day. Please don't believe what he said on the review, it is not true or at best exaggerated. We saw him enjoying himself round the pool and eating the food and didn't seem to have an issue. I'm glad we can't hear his moaney voice anymore.
In summary, if you want a great hotel with fantastic staff at a cost effective price then this is for you. But I would leave it a week or so till David and his brother go home........
