November 3 day stay

Review of Sea Side Hotel
Reviewed Jan 3, 2020
Great location - close to the beach and the city centre and a bus stop.
Nothing special, modest breakfast: bread, butter, milk, cereal, cheese, olives, yoghurt, tea, coffee. A quiet street and overall environment.
Date of stay: November 2019
Room Tip: No elevator, but if it's no obstacle, the top floor has the nicest suit - biggest and with...

Before traveling anywhere, I ALWAYS read Tripadvisor reviews, but now something came up, I was in a terrible hurry, and didn't do that. A big mistake, where I only have to blame myself.

So, I ended up booking the worst hotel at least I have ever been to: run-down, shabby, and dirty. The building was in a bad shape. A lot of things were not functioning. I didn't have a glass on my window and I couldn't open the wooden shades, so I couldn't see out at all, except from a small gap in it. It was always quite noisy on the streets.

I had only cold water in the shower and one day the handle got loose when I turned the shower on. I managed to put it back on.

AC was so cold and effective that I could have it on only for a few minutes at a time. There was not enough sockets (two were taken by tv and fridge), so I had to turn off the night light when I loaded my phone.

It was really dirty all over and the personnel just didn't care. If somebody complained about something, they said ok or something similar. Maybe something happened in one or two days' time, maybe not.

Breakfast was modest to say the least. They just had cereals, instant (!) coffee and white bread. They didn't have decent cheese, eggs or yoghurt. They just had some runny cheese and olives with stones to put on the bread. On most mornings they also had pudding.

To crown it all, the personnel was impolite and didn't pay attention to their guests. They didn't say good morning unless you said it first. When you went by, they didn't look at you or say anything - just did their own thing. I stayed there one week and on the last morning they guy in the breakfast room smiled a little and asked, how I was.

When I had the rented bike and wanted to store it in the store room (which they said is possible), it was a huge discomfort for them the next morning to move another bike from there, so I could get mine. I asked for light - didn't get it. I asked the guy to keep the door open, so I could see something - he didn't.

As it was such a nightmare, I tried to spend as little time there as possible. This was easy, as the location of the hotel was ideal.

Room tip: Don't book this hotel.

I lived here for 10 days. The location is good with just a short walk to the sea and the city. But the hotel is generally badly maintenanced: electricity contact in my room was not functioning, douche cabinet in bad condition and the daily cleaning was at a minimum. The “laid down mattress” was was ready to be changded. Most of the staff did not acknowledge you at all and are mostly busy with their cellphones and private activities. Not even a "good morning" and seemed not to like humans at all. The breakfast is bad with only white bread, cake and cornflakes: It was a problem when more than 2 guests wanted to eat cornflakes: because they have only 2 table spoons! Eating cornflakes with teaspoon or fork is difficult and I complained about this. After some days they had bought some plastic spoons! This is a badly run hotel!

I do not recommend this hotel except if no others in Tel Aviv have available rooms. They refused to honour our prepaid booking on our arrival in Israel and we had to find another hotel. This took 4 hours.

We are still arguing about their refusal to refund our payment. They claimed we arrived after check in time but we never received any advice on a limited check in time. They were advised by our booking company (Qantas Hotels) and by two of our friends that we would be arriving late. They did not mention to our friends that they would not allow late check in.

Because we had prepaid, we did stay in this hotel on our last night in Israel. That is how I can comment on the rooms. If there is nowhere else available it is better than trying to sleep at the airport terminal as we were forced to on arrival in Israel. The rooms are very small and the bathroom facilities are scant.

Not recommended.

Never saw the worst hotel! Small, old poor and not really clean, windows are broken and not isolating from lound and temperature oursied!. No elevator and the hotel staff doesn't care how you lift up you suite cases up! No furniture in the rooms, so no place to to hang your cloth! I would name it hostel but it cost us over 141 CHF like a good hotel, that is why I consider it as a cheat! Good location does not compensate SO low quality of this hotel!

Room tip: Not recommend at all!

This hotel is about a one or two star hotel. They had a free breakfast which was OK. It had eggs, cereal, toast and yogurt for breakfast There is no elevator in this building so you have to carry your luggage upstairs. Our shower leaked and the water got into the bedroom but they gave me lots of towels to wipe it up. The room otherwise was OK and the staff was friendly. Just reminder that this is not a 5 star hotel. On the top floor which is on the 4th floor there was a balcony which we used. It had a nice view from up there. We were with a group. Our room was number 28 and I told them about the leaking shower so I hope they fixed it.
