Before traveling anywhere, I ALWAYS read Tripadvisor reviews, but now something came up, I was in a terrible hurry, and didn't do that. A big mistake, where I only have to blame myself.
So, I ended up booking the worst hotel at least I have ever been to: run-down, shabby, and dirty. The building was in a bad shape. A lot of things were not functioning. I didn't have a glass on my window and I couldn't open the wooden shades, so I couldn't see out at all, except from a small gap in it. It was always quite noisy on the streets.
I had only cold water in the shower and one day the handle got loose when I turned the shower on. I managed to put it back on.
AC was so cold and effective that I could have it on only for a few minutes at a time. There was not enough sockets (two were taken by tv and fridge), so I had to turn off the night light when I loaded my phone.
It was really dirty all over and the personnel just didn't care. If somebody complained about something, they said ok or something similar. Maybe something happened in one or two days' time, maybe not.
Breakfast was modest to say the least. They just had cereals, instant (!) coffee and white bread. They didn't have decent cheese, eggs or yoghurt. They just had some runny cheese and olives with stones to put on the bread. On most mornings they also had pudding.
To crown it all, the personnel was impolite and didn't pay attention to their guests. They didn't say good morning unless you said it first. When you went by, they didn't look at you or say anything - just did their own thing. I stayed there one week and on the last morning they guy in the breakfast room smiled a little and asked, how I was.
When I had the rented bike and wanted to store it in the store room (which they said is possible), it was a huge discomfort for them the next morning to move another bike from there, so I could get mine. I asked for light - didn't get it. I asked the guy to keep the door open, so I could see something - he didn't.
As it was such a nightmare, I tried to spend as little time there as possible. This was easy, as the location of the hotel was ideal.
