The very best of Caye Caulker

Reviewed Apr 19, 2022
We spent 9 magical nights at Weezie's over Easter break. Our party of 10 rented 4 of the 5 cottage accommodations and we could not have been happier with our stay. The cottages themselves were adorable, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed - from towels and toiletries, to fully stocked kitchens. Although we ended up having most of our meals at the great restaurant at the resort and other places on the island, you could very easily get your own groceries and cook your meals there.

Having the pool steps from our cottages was perfect for us and our 3 year old grandson. We also hung out on the dock and at the pool at the front of the property a few times for a change of pace.

I highly recommend renting the bikes Weezie's offers. What a bargain at $25 for a week. We biked EVERYWHERE, and when we needed to call one of the many golf cart taxis, Cal or Bratty were there within minutes to accommodate us. Get their contact information from the resort - you will not be sorry.

Last but not least, what really made our stay extra special was the resort staff - Roberto and Anna, Marlene, Ruben, Kevin, Fernando, and all of the other people who took great care to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank you sincerely from all of our group. We can't wait to come back!

We stayed at Weezie's Ocean Front Hotel for one week at the end of February 2022 and had a tremendous experience. We will definitely return. Beautiful, clean and peaceful. The staff was terrific - and the snorkeling oh my - the best. Being able to go on Weezie's private boat was fabulous, John was a terrific captain and guide - he even "called" to a Moray Eel and it swam right up to greet us. We had the use of bikes for a week to get around the island easily. We concluded the week with the greatest massage ever on our balcony with the ocean breeze soothing us. Amazing place.

This place is amazing I came with my sister for her birthday and I’m going back home to tell everyone to come here. Beautiful clean place and every staff member is so nice and friendly and willing to help you with anything. Roberto the head manager remembered our names and was so good at booking everything for us we would walk by talking about something and he’s like I’ll take care of you and would book it and even remind us the time to be there later that day or the next day he was awesome. We went on three tours with Ian and he was amazing answered all our questions about fish and explained everything to us and really wanted us to have an awesome time. Roberto’s wife was the cook and she was AMAZING everything homemade and so delicious. This place really wants to accommodate you with everything and was so amazing that they all remembered our name and was so helpful with everything. Was also 7 months pregnant on this trip. I cant wait to come back and I will be staying at Weezies anytime I come here!

We stayed at Weezie's 4 nights (3/16/22 to 3/20/2022) in the Penthouse for which I paid $1658 American. My impression is that it is one of the more expensive and nicer options on Caye Caulker. We walked by many less expensive places during our stay that seemed to be busy but I don’t think I would have been happy. Weezie’s is very nice and not the right place for a budget vacation.

The pictures and descriptions on Weezie’s website are accurate. The grounds are well maintained with flowering plants and has a lovely pool that was typically occupied by 2-6 guests although we had it to ourselves a couple of times. There were plenty of deck chairs for the space and while guests were friendly, most seemed to want to relax quietly which is what I was looking for! There is a long pier with deck chairs and access to the ocean past any sea grass. There are kayaks and paddle boards available for free (large heavy and durable ones that are fine for getting out on water close by) and bicycles for rent for $5/day.

Our room was 1 bedroom with a king bed, full kitchen and a private balcony with an amazing view that worth the premium price. There were two deck chairs and 2 Adirondack chairs on the patio. The kitchen had everything you would need including ice trays in the freezer of the near full sized fridge. The room was clean and housekeeping cleaned daily. My only minor complaint about the room was that the bath towels and pool towels are not very large and certainly not luxurious. We didn’t ask for extra but the two of each they gave us stayed damp or wet most of the time with normal use. There are no extra towels at the pool. Something more substantial and readily accessible would not be out of line even if trying to be environmentally friendly. There is a second pool on the grounds but we did not venture there or to the cottages.

There are 2 AC units, one in the bedroom which got the room as cold as we could stand it and one in the living room which kept the space comfortable during the hottest hours and cool late evening/early morning. We discovered that the living room AC stopped cooling our third evening there after the office closed and the living room was VERY warm even after we opened the sliding doors and the windows. Too warm to enjoy the space. I reported it as soon as the office opened my last full day and by mid-afternoon they put in a portable AC unit that helped a lot. The service they use to repair the AC was not available to come on a Saturday afternoon so I think they did as well as they could, given the limitations of the island.

The restaurant is convenient for breakfast and quality was good although we only ate there once. We chose to walk to town (15 minutes along the ocean) for all of our meals other than our first day breakfast. Il Pellicino Cuchina Italiana and Pasta Per Caso Anna & Armando were excellent and Ice N Beans is great for coffee and bagels or smoothies. The full bar at Weezie’s is great as well.

The staff were all friendly, helpful and accommodating before and during out stay. The hotel is a short walk from the airport and we did not need transportation but it was very hot mid-day and the road is bumpy. If you don’t want to drag your luggage in the heat, ask about getting help. All of our other plans including booking a snorkeling trip were handled by Email. We had a great ½ day snorkeling adventure with Victor from Reef Snorkeling Tours. Highly recommend him.

We were very happy with our stay at Weezie’s and would definitely stay again if we return to Caye Caulker.

Room tip: Wonderful small hotel with great pool and walking distance to the airport!

Spent 5 days at Weezies, it was fantastic! The staff is friendly and very helpful. Reuben at the bar was super friendly and pours a mean drink! Anna in the kitchen did a great job frying the fish we caught. John is the captain of our half day fishing/snorkeling trip, which is a great deal, he cleaned the fish while we snorkeled. Our room was spacious and had a great view. Rent the bikes to get around town, it's 5$ a day and well worth it.

Room tip: We had room 4, overlooks the pool and has a great view of the ocean/sunrise

Our first time visiting Belize, 6 days in Feb. the weather was perfect. The access to groceries, services, dining, food and activities are superb. Everything is within walking distance.

I would recommend to pack casual and light. There is something very charming about not having to pack formal dinner clothes and nice shoes (ladies, leave your wedges at home you won’t need them here)

We chose Weezies because it looked beautiful, relaxing and very restful. What we found was unbelievable service and accommodations.- this place has it all. They not only have a beautiful relaxing, and restful vibe, but an incredibly amazing staff. Roberto, Anna, Ruben, and Jon and the rest of the staff made us feel so welcomed. The most excellent service by every single staff member.

The ownership of this little island resort happened to also be here during our stay. They certainly have a winning formula because it really shows and is reflected from top down.

Already booking a future stay-
