After weeks of travelling on a cruise ship and staying in hotels, motels and cabins, it was a pleasure to spend three nights in a spacious Portside Whitsunday apartment with distinct living, eating and sleeping areas. Our unit was nicely furnished and very much like the many comfortable time-share properties we have stayed in over the years. It was good to have our own private terrace and to be only a few steps away from the pool.
The owners, Colleen and John, were friendly and helpful with excellent guidance on local tour companies, shuttle buses, etc.
At first sight, the location of Portside Whitsunday Apartments seems just OK. However, it didn’t take long for us to realize that it was actually an excellent spot, with the local shuttle buses stopping right outside the door and the main shopping/restaurant area starting just 100 yards away. Being at one end of the town, the apartments were also close to the start of the 3.5km coastal walk to Cannonvale Bay that took us past marinas, swimming lagoons, secluded coves and some attractive properties. Another bonus of the location was that it did not require a hill climb to reach, unlike much of Airlie Beach accommodation on the steep slopes above the town.
We would happily return to the very pleasant little town of Airlie Beach and to the Portside Whitsunday Apartments.
