Negatives
They do not clean the beach, so, it is full of garbage, old cups, napkins and also sea and plant debris.
Rooms are new but came with a lot of faults. We had broken locks in both rooms we had. Toilet was not sealed and was jumping waiting for overflow to happen when everything will be moving from down the toilet to the floor. Ceilings in toilets of both rooms were leaking. Tiles in the toilet did not have grout, were unfinished.
During a week stay our room was never cleaned or restocked despite generous tipping. No toilet paper, water or shower gel. Only garbage was removed and bed was made. Outside somebody left dishes on the ground that were not disturbing to the cleaner and were sitting there for days.
I assume that rooms are cleaned between the clients, however, it seems, to be very basic. Few months old shower has already very dirty corners that obviously were never washed.
To get toilet paper, water or gel we had to run after staff every day.
Laundry is of low quality as even relatively new linens were already greyish.
Pool is huge but completely unusable. There are marks for depth around the pool. The depth starts from 5cm and goes up 5cm each 3 meters reaching max 1.5m. If you want to swim in the pool you have about 6m to do so. So, it is not exactly a pool but rather a long shallow slope covered with hot water. There are two small pools that have no purpose at all. Both are 40cm depth.
Pool chairs are new but all faulty. They have a hole in the middle that does not allow you to sit straight as you sink into this hole. You also cannot lie down on it as the cover is extremely thin and stretchy, so you lie on a metal bar that is very painful.
Palapas have no pillows, They also don’t have coverage and do not protect you from sun. So, you cannot use them.
For these reasons almost all chairs, palapas and pool were always empty.
Lobby is still clean and nicely designed but due to lack of decor reminds more a hospital lobby rather than a 4 star hotel.
Food is limited even for Cuba and we visited few Cuban resorts before. Out of seven days three of them there were no eggs or milk at all. No omelet, boiled eggs, cereals , coffee with milk or milk cocktail.
There was never beef, shell fish, salmon (cooked or smoked).
Choices of vegetables were always limited and they were overcooked and watery.
Chicken or basic fish were not every day.
Pork was always available but always very dry.
Everything was cooked without spices.
There were canapés with carrots and sandwiched with cucumbers.
Bread was always available but only white.
Fruits were very limited. Pineapple, papaya and mango sometimes. A lot of canned fruits. Never fruits to pick up like banana, apple, pear or orange.
Main food - beans. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Food is recycled. What is not finished today is served for the next few days.
Food trays are not covered, not protected from flys and not heated. So, food is always cold and there are a lot of flys.
No drink self service at all except powder drinks that are presented as juice. No water or coffee machines.
Few people in dining room are responsible for cleaning tables and serving drinks that leads to a long wait for basic water.
A la cart restaurants are mostly serving leftovers. In Asian restaurant I was served ramen that contained dried pasta and a spoiled cut egg that was sitting in the open at least for a few days. I took a picture.
Italian restaurant had three types of pasta and pizza in the menu. Not a single choice of meet, fish or vegetables. Friends ordered pizza. They were served with pita bread covered with uncooked ham. They took a picture.
Overall, looking at the lack of supply and prioritizing guests interests, it seems that the resort is launched originally suffering from lack of top management. Ground management is fine. They are doing their best but they cannot establish supplies or hire a professional cook.
Internet is constantly disconnecting and every time you need it you have to connect again. It is not automatic.
No internet on the beach.
No entertainment at all. Never. Only karaoke at 9:30pm.
There were some group exercises on the beach but there was never any information available about the schedule.
Overall , it is not a 4 star resort. By Cuban standards 3 star at most. By world standard is not more than 2.
