This hostel pretends to cater to solo female travellers and supporting women but it is nothing short of a lie.
My experience here was distressing. I was staying in a 4-bedroom mixed dorm, and I was changing and the housekeeper barged in despite me repeatedly telling her to stop and wait. She saw me completely nude, pushed past me, and opened the blinds and door to the street, exposing me to a male passerby who looked up and saw me. I did not consent to being exposed in the nude to a passer-by, and in my religion, it is a sin to be seen by men like that. I felt utterly humiliated. When I went to the reception to complain, they showed no empathy and made me feel like I was at fault for getting changed in a shared room, even though I was alone at the time and check-in wasn't until 3 PM.
Their response was dismissive and invalidating. I brought up that someone with body trauma could have left feeling even more traumatized by this experience. Instead of acknowledging this, they suggested that anyone with body trauma shouldn't stay in a shared dorm. Just because I'm staying in a dorm doesn't mean I'm entitled to zero privacy and deserve to be treated with zero respect and decency. I had made sure I had my privacy and had drawn the blinds closed. Getting changed would have taken one second as I was putting on a dress, and it was ridiculous to not give me that moment. They didn't apologize or validate my concerns once. Instead of showing empathy and understanding, they made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. I felt completely dismissed and humiliated. The staff made me feel like I was at fault and I left feeling gaslit. It was particularly upsetting that another female staff member showed zero compassion.
As a paying guest, I expected better treatment and a safe, respectful environment. I cannot recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a considerate and secure place to stay.
