Best hostel I’ve stayed in

Reviewed 4 weeks ago
Amazing hostel!! The best I have stayed in. You get your own drawer for your luggage which you can put a padlock on for security (good to bring your own lock but you can get from the hostel too), as well as plenty of space, and well looked after toilets and showers in the rooms. The whole place is secure, really clean and the staff are super friendly and always there to help. They serve dinner every night at 9pm which is an easy way to meet new people and really put me at ease when I was a bit nervous on my first day here (I was a solo female traveller). The nightly pub crawls were awesome too! Wesen was fantastic and made the whole pub crawl experience a lot of fun. Location is really good too although a little bit of a walk to get to the beach (around 1h). Honestly no criticisms for this place, I had such an amazing time here!! Would highly recommend.

This hostel pretends to cater to solo female travellers and supporting women but it is nothing short of a lie.
My experience here was distressing. I was staying in a 4-bedroom mixed dorm, and I was changing and the housekeeper barged in despite me repeatedly telling her to stop and wait. She saw me completely nude, pushed past me, and opened the blinds and door to the street, exposing me to a male passerby who looked up and saw me. I did not consent to being exposed in the nude to a passer-by, and in my religion, it is a sin to be seen by men like that. I felt utterly humiliated. When I went to the reception to complain, they showed no empathy and made me feel like I was at fault for getting changed in a shared room, even though I was alone at the time and check-in wasn't until 3 PM.
Their response was dismissive and invalidating. I brought up that someone with body trauma could have left feeling even more traumatized by this experience. Instead of acknowledging this, they suggested that anyone with body trauma shouldn't stay in a shared dorm. Just because I'm staying in a dorm doesn't mean I'm entitled to zero privacy and deserve to be treated with zero respect and decency. I had made sure I had my privacy and had drawn the blinds closed. Getting changed would have taken one second as I was putting on a dress, and it was ridiculous to not give me that moment. They didn't apologize or validate my concerns once. Instead of showing empathy and understanding, they made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. I felt completely dismissed and humiliated. The staff made me feel like I was at fault and I left feeling gaslit. It was particularly upsetting that another female staff member showed zero compassion.
As a paying guest, I expected better treatment and a safe, respectful environment. I cannot recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a considerate and secure place to stay.

Room tip: Avoid this place

Upon entering Yeah Barcelona Hostel, you will encounter super friendly hosts! The location is convenient. The shared space is very comfortable and nicely appointed for hanging out if you find yourself lacking things to do in Barcelona city. There is a washer/dryer for catching up on laundry, too. The dining area is open for grabbing your own food or purchasing breakfast in the morning.
The hostel will allow you to leave luggage in their luggage room while you are out and about, but it is not locked space. We did not feel our luggage was in any danger, and we enjoyed the freedom of leaving our luggage, but you would have to assess your comfort level for this.
Our group of four rented a shared room containing four bunks and its own private bathroom. This was a great option for us. And even though we were older than many of the guests, we had a great experience during our stay.
The one thing I feel I should mention is that staff marched through our room to close the balcony door and lock it at bedtime....think fire escape danger! Plus the ac temperature is governed, resulting in a stuffy nighttime experience. This was such a disappointment since I had selected the hostel mostly based on the impression that the pictured door in the room could be open for fresh air all night. Be aware that it cannot. We were told this was a Spain law....it must only apply to hostels because we never ran into that issue anywhere else in the country the next two weeks.

Great hostel to stay at! The hosts are all extremely friendly and help foster a great sense of community between travellers. If you're travelling solo, this is the place to be!

Pros:
- Massive lockers to fit large suitcases.
- Many awesome low-cost activities to help you meet other travellers (breakfast, dinners, tours, pub crawls)
- Excellent facilities (lounges, rooftop bar, laundry)
- 5 minutes away from subway station
- Bathrooms are one per room and clean
- Laundry service available
- Mixed gender and female only rooms available
- Towel rentals available (2 EUR)
- Locks available for sale (3 EUR)
- Luggage storage available

- Great decor!
- Rooftop bar + pool has a great view

Critiques:
- The posted rule regarding guests being limited to being 18-45 years old wasn't really followed. I saw travellers of all types.
- Top bunks lack curtains.

Recommendations:
The daily free (tip-based) tours from 11:00-13:30 and the nightly pub crawls (15 EUR pp) starting at 22:30 have both been a great way meet other guests. I highly recommend attending both!

Shoutout to Wisin, Felipe, and Mario for being such great hosts for those events!

Don't want to talk about details, this is not important and other people already did it.

What is important for me: I've benn so far in many hostels all around the world. Maybe around 50 hostels in about 15 different countries.

My stay in the "Yeah Hoste", Barcelona was so far the best one.

Thank you, guys!
