If you really want to soak in all the sounds of Barcelona stay here!

Review of Hotel Condal
Reviewed 3 weeks ago
My room was clean. Totally in the heart of everything. Very noisy until the late hours of the night due to its location (don't book this hotel if you are a light sleeper). Decent Breakfast. You have to carry your bags yourself across a very busy super touristy La Rambla street as taxis can't drive you into the alley where the hotel is located. If you really want to soak in all the sounds of Barcelona stay here. Also, many alfresco cafes/restaurants in the area for excellent people watching. There must be a church nearby as when the bells are fired it is LOUD & Never ending.

The place is so old and tired it's a joke. The walls are made of big plastic panels. The rooms have no amenities, no toiletries, no coffee/tea making equipment. It is brown and drab and needs a complete refurb. The Aircon would not come on and you cannot sleep with the window open because it is so loud. Even with both sets of double glazing closed the only time it is quiet is between about 5am and 7am in the morning. And then the cleaner starts banging around. There is zero soundproofing. The bathrooms need a complete overhaul. Just don't go there

Room tip: Don't stay here

The people on reception were friendly and polite and made me feel welcome straight away. My room was a little odd. I booked a single room, and my first impression was that it was quite old fashioned and could do with a bit of modernisation. There isn’t an external window, which I found disappointing - just a window looking into the hallway of the hotel. I had to keep my blinds closed the whole time just to maintain some privacy. The hotel is situated on a very busy street off of La Rambla, so if you’re looking to be central, this hotel is great. I think that’s really what you’re paying for, as the hotel itself is very basic, although clean. As a female solo traveller, I felt perfectly safe here. The room did not look like the photos on the website.

Our booking was with another hotel that was unsuitable when we arrived in Barcelona. We had to look for place to stay and came across the Hotel Condal. Luckily they had 2 rooms that we could take straight away. Desk staff were extremely helpful, assisted us to do the booking on line as it was cheaper. Lovely clean air conditioned rooms, daily room service. Breakfast bar in the morning with a small courtyard so you could sit outside. Located down d side road off Les Rambles so location is perfect. Would definitely stay again.

Situated 3 min walk from the metro station and all the eateries. Nice and spacious rooms. Right in the middle of all the action and activity. The breakfast timings could’ve been longer and it could’ve started earlier than 8 am. Also since it’s situated right in the middle of La Rambla, the streets can be a tad noisy at night.

Room tip: Try to take rooms not overlooking the street
