Barcelona is our go-to European destination city. We like to cook some meals in, shop the local markets, so we usually have stayed in a AirBnB type rental rather than a hotel. But we've never stayed anywhere as PERFECT as this penthouse in this location. First - location is ideal. Sant Antoni Market is just up the road and south a fabulous asset to the community. And restaurants in the area - from popular neighbourhood local eateries and tapas bars, to Michelin starred gourmet restaurants within blocks, it's a gastronomic adventure at very turn. Easy walking to nearly anywhere in the city you would want to go, or super easy-access to the metro station right outside the door. The building is old and has character. The rental office is right on-site and staffed daily by the friendliest team of lovely people. There is every amenity one could use, a well-stocked kitchen that included a few essentials, complimentary coffee, beer, soft-drinks... and the place is maintained and cared for with every consideration for the guests. And the penthouses themselves, so beautiful - each one a bit different, (as we stayed in each), and both with terrific views, spacious outdoor terraces, for the best Barcelona indoor/outdoor living you could imagine. A 5 star recommendation!!

On a personal note, we felt so fortunate to meet the building's owner and have his enthusiastic insider recommendations and assistance with a late reservation in an exceptional nearby restaurant of the best quality, (and also so reasonably priced). What a gift. We also were a quick walk up Montjuic for a nostalgic look at the swimming pool where my partner won a gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics. Clearly for us, this was a special trip, and made more-so by our exceptional penthouse apartment on Ronda San Pau.
