Super nice , the hotel is very different from the usuals you are used to see, well located, nice environment . In general they staying was really good and staff very helpful as well. The 24h reception works wonders!

Second time at the generator, last time at the hostel now hotel part. All in all it is a good place with good prices and very close to everything.

The location of the hostel is very convenient (5 min walk from Passeig de Gracia and a metro station). We stayed in a private ensuite double room which was simple, but very clean, new and functional. Having said that, be aware that in the same building they have a youth hostel. Expect loud music in the bar and terrace, noisy young people in the corridors at night, disco music from the other rooms and hipster cool environment. If you look for a quiet hotel, this is not your place to stay.

We stayed here for two days and it was an overall awful experience. The front desk staff are not very engaging and it shows. I asked one of the front desk staff for dinner recommendations and she ignored me but then after I stared at her for a response she passed me onto her colleague who never responded to me anyways. There was also an incident where five German ladies did not let us on the elevator because they said the cap was 6 people which was not true. Very uncomfortable environment. Its a bare bones place which we expected but a bit of customer service would have been nice. I would have rather spent a bit more money on a nicer hotel.

First impression was the friendly welcome at the reception desk with efforts for processing as quickly as possible (although there were many people waiting).
The entire place seems to be very well organized from cleanliness of the rooms to security management.
There was not a lot of space in our room which is acceptable since we had a very reasonable rate and you do not get much of a better deal in that area - which is in perfect central position, also close to the main park and walking distance to many nice bars and other attractions.
My personal impression was that the Generator primarily focuses on younger guests with a lounge area and a bar - which they seem to be successful with, so a good spot also if you want to get in touch with other young tourists.

BEWARE OF THIEVES IN THIS HOSTEL. As I was waiting for my room to be cleaned, someone stole my bookbag in the lobby. My bookbag was sitting beside me, and when I turned my head, someone came and took it. They switched it with an empty, similar bookbag so I wouldn't notice. Once I alerted the hotel about the issue, NO URGENCY was shown. Even though the robbery had just happened, the hotel would not review the camera footage to help figure out who the thief was and if they were still in the hostel. One lady who saw the robbery said it was someone staying in the hostel. It was very frustrating and upsetting that the footage could not be reviewed considering I am a foreigner and that bookbag had my passport/money/cards in it. This was the very first day of my vacation in Barcelona and this incident in the hotel pretty much ruined the rest of my trip. I couldn't believe this happened while I was IN the hostel. This hostel needs more security and there needs to be a way to review the footage after a theft takes place. Maybe I could have caught the thief if the footage could have been viewed quickly. Very disappointed and angry at the outcome of this. If you stay here, please keep everything very close and in constant eyesight, because thieves are walking around in there.
