It felt like Patchwork

Review of Bonanova
Reviewed Oct 27, 2016
I booked this place based on the good reviews I read here and on the fantastic low price for a well located Hotel. I was not happy with the bed (hard like stone) and the overall look of the room. You know how it feels when you are in a room where people put the things they don't need anymore? Here you are. Nothing fits and even the furniture looks as if it would fall down in any moment. Other than that - it was clean, Internet was ok and there was warm water and a friendly staff.

We booked on trip advisor reviews.
The suite was very clean as was all of the hotel.
On first impression it looks like something from the 70s, all the beech veneer wall panels.
The bathroom is tiny and the toilet was squashed in the corner.
The plugs must be lft in all drains as theres a sewage smell comes from them.
Sitting on the loo if the room above uses the toiletyou hear what ever it is pass you down the pipe. Then you get the aroma.
The shower was spot on.
The concierge on night shift a chap with thinning hair, was a great help.
Credit where credit is due he was excellent, gave great advice on local restaurants, busses/trains, really good fellow.
On another negative
You get stung big time with the safe in the room, €15 for the week.....ok you thinks but ahha the €10 tax is added. This leaves a sour taste for sure.
Ill go as far as to say had it not been for the helpful staff i would of been outa there.
The free cold coffee on a morning and a bit of cake/ biscuits is a let down......make it hot and every one will enjoy it ?? It sume the bonanova up really.....luke warm.
The staff make up for a poor place.

Very convenient but still quiet hotel apartment. Walk to subway station and supermarket in 5 min. Very spacious and clean room with a simple kitchen for simple food. Next to a public library.
Staff are very nice and helpful. They provided us a lot of information about sightseeing and walking. Recommend this hotel apartment if you want to cook simple food by yourself while wish a quiet and convenient place to stay.

The Bona Nova area is an excellent location if one is in Barcelona for medical reasons as many clinics are in the vicinity. The hotel staff is so helpful and the accommodations, with kitchenettes (there is nearby shopping), create a relaxed atmosphere in times of stress. There are restaurants in the area as well and, if you want to go down to the center then transportation is close by. The rooms are kept spotless and they do everything possible to satisfy their guests. One great advantage is that the hotel is in a group that can offer a shuttle bus service to and from the airport at a reasonable price and they will arrange everything.

Room tip: Upper floors facing library across the street

I stayed at the Bonanova Aparthotel for three nights from the 7th May. The reception area is very welcoming and check-in was simple. When I opened the door of the apartment, I was a little surprised to see that it seemed quite small with old-fashioned décor.
Having said that, it was very clean. The bathroom was small but the shower provided ample hot water with good pressure. The place is well-furnished and the mini-kitchen area proved useful for preparing snacks/meals. One thing about the apartment that I think needs improving is the air-conditioning. The air comes in via a single inlet above the door (a second one has been blocked up) and quite simply the flow of air is not powerful enough, even when set to maximum. Another small comment I would like to make is that in the wardrobe there is a small safe, opened with a key available in reception. This could be useful for storing important documents and cash. However, rather strangely, there is a charge for this service. Why? It’s not as if another guest could use it – it’s part of the apartment. Of course, a charge should be made if a key is lost, but I think it’s mean to charge guests extra for something that is already in the room. That’s just my opinion, anyway. There is, however, free Wi-Fi which is good plus there is complimentary tea/coffee and pastries in reception in the morning, which is another nice touch. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The location of the aparthotel is actually excellent. El Putxet station (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat) is about a 3-minute walk away and trains run very frequently to the Pl. Catalunya, a journey of about 10 minutes. A 10-trip ticket (T10) costs less than 10 euros. Overall, I would say that this is actually a very good place to stay in Barcelona and on the whole I was very comfortable there.
