La Rambla - As Close as it Gets

We stayed at this hotel post cruise on June 23, 2024. The hotel is right on La Rambla close to the marina. The staff was friendly & the rooms are very well appointed, clean and comfortable. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking La Rambla. They have several elevators & a pretty good breakfast buffet.

We highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay on La Rambla and close to the action, restaurants, cafe’s & stores of Barcelona.

Hotel super-clean and comfortable. There are 3 elevators, so prior reviewer was mistaken. Breakfast great and location so central, don’t need taxis to get around, lots of restaurants and entertainment in front and down the streets. Excellent first-time to Barcelona!

We spent 3 nights at Arc La Rambla the beginning of June as we were taking a cruise out of Barcelona. It is a boutique hotel, the rooms are on the small side, and not a whole lot of storage, however it was clean, comfortable and fairly quiet even though it is on a main tourist area. It is about a half hour drive from the airport, easy to get a taxi outside the airport. My husband did ask ahead of time about the cost, which is metered. We paid extra for the breakfast which was well worth it, they had a good variety of food to fill you up before heading out. We were fortunate that when we arrived around 2pm we were able to get into our room. If you are early they do have lockers that you can store you luggage until your room is ready, I think they were a couple of euros each. The location is perfect for walking and exploring, our taxi driver told us not to eat at any of the places on Las Rambla as they are over priced and the food is not very good, he suggested heading the side streets across from the hotel for food. We found a couple of restaurants that we enjoyed which were maybe a 10 or 15 minute walk from the hotel. The front desk people were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The hotel pre-ordered a taxi for us to take us to the cruise terminal, which isn't very far from the hotel. We will be back in Barcelona in October on our way to Madrid, and will probably stay at this location again.

Was waylaid in Barcelona due to a flight cancellation and booked a room at this hotel.
The accommodation is spotless, contemporary and the rooms are spacious. There are multiple rooftop solariums for sunbathing, relaxing after a day of exploring or just a beautiful quiet place to contemplate life or read a book.
There is a Tapas restaurant attached to the hotel which serves breakfast daily with a good selection of breakfast items, Tapas and beverages in during the afternoon siesta hours and a dinner menu available.
My Spanish is sorely lacking and the hotel staff were fluent in English; def a plus for me. They made reservations for me to get to the airport when my flight was finally booked. Highly recommend!

Rooms are small and we didn’t like that our room window didn’t look outside but into other parts of the hotel. Doesn’t leave you with much privacy or any natural light. Shower needs a door because water spills out. No hair conditioner- remember to bring your own. Location is great and metro stop is a few steps away which makes it convenient. Housekeeping is efficient and front desk staff, especially Kristina, was very helpful. Our keys kept getting deactivated which was frustrating. We opted for the daily breakfast, which is very average for the price you pay. No fresh juices and very little fresh fruit. Eggs are rubbery, coffee comes from a machine, and nothing is made to order. If I had to do it again, I would’ve eaten at one of the many nearby coffee shops with fresher food at half the price. The hotel is closer to town but you will need a taxi to get to the airport or the train station. Would advise to use metro to get to Sagrada Familia or Park Guell from here. Enjoy Barcelona!

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are glad to know that you appreciated our convenient location, efficient housekeeping service, and the friendliness of our staff, especially Cristina.
However, we regret that several aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We apologize for the inconveniences with the room window, the shower, and the lack of conditioner.
Regarding the window in your room, we would like to inform you that we have different types of rooms, some interior and some exterior. We encourage you to book one of our exterior rooms with a Rambla View on your next stay to enjoy more natural light and privacy.
Concerning the shower and conditioner, our reception is available 24 hours a day. If you had informed us, we would have resolved your issues as quickly as possible.
We also apologize if our breakfast did not live up to your expectations. Our breakfast selection includes fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, three or four different varieties of cheese, more than four types of typical sausages, ham, turkey, four or five types of fresh fruit, fruit skewers, four types of cereals, eggs, sautéed mushrooms, hard-boiled eggs, tuna, Spanish and zucchini omelettes, bacon, sausages, various breads (including whole grain), and a variety of pastries and bakery items—all for only €14, with the option to eat as much as you want. As you can see from most reviews, our customers generally love our breakfast. Regarding the coffee, please note that it is whole and natural, made fresh upon request. While many hotels have coffee machines, those that offer higher-end coffee typically charge more than €14 per person.
Nevertheless, we will use your comments to make further improvements.
We understand your frustration with the key deactivation, which can sometimes happen if keys are near mobile devices. Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.

KNOWN theft issue at hotel. (read other reviews) Treated very dismissively by hotel staff and management with their "investigation" We were not asked any questions about the loss by the hotel. We were out all day on May 24th and returned to the room at 9:30 pm to see that our bag left in the closed wardrobe had been rummaged through. We reported the theft to the hotel lobby and eventually walked to the police station to report it there. We were traveling and touring all day and only took our fanny packs. We left our electronics in the room, larger items in the small safe, other items zipped up in the back pack in the closed wardrobe. The items were STOLEN during the day while we were out. Obviously someone very adept at rummaging through bags and taking things not easily traceable had access to our room. The hotel lobby receptionist "assured us" what happens "when guests think things are stolen' (indicating a pattern of reported theft) they actually left them in a cab. No care, concern, or courtesy just rude blame. When I asked her about other reviews of theft she said, "out there, not in here!" pointing to the streets. Her response was so strong it made me wonder if she as involved? At minimum, it felt like she was trying to avoid addressing a well known issue. Our room door was locked. The tiny safe was full of our most prized possessions, but our backpack was rummaged through and items of value stolen while we were out for the day. Reported to police who were much kinder than hotel staff and acknowledged this as a known problem. They need the serial numbers to "track" the items but we can call with this when we return home. I would stay somewhere else.. Even if nothing is stolen, do you want someone rummaging through your things looking for items of value?

We take theft reports very seriously and regret that our initial response did not meet your expectations. With good will, our receptionist provided an example of a recent situation where a guest left his AirPods in the cab. To investigate what happened, we reviewed the log of all entries and exits to and from your room. In addition, we reviewed the camera recordings and found nothing unusual.

Our housekeeping team and front desk staff are dedicated professionals, and any suggestion of their involvement in such matters is unfounded. While we understand your frustration and distress over the loss of your items, we must emphasize that accusing our staff or alarming other guests by suggesting theft within the hotel is unreasonable and unconstructive. Our team is committed to providing a safe environment for all our guests and we are reinforcing our security procedures to prevent a recurrence.
