Stayed for four nights in October, 2019 in the Premium Skyline Room for a group bachelorette party. The brand new Nobu hotel is beautifully designed with modern touches and Japanese minimalist decor. The rooms are spacious and has expansive windows filtering in the natural sunlight with magnificent views of the city.
Service - 5 stars:
I was debating to rate this hotel 4 or 5 star, the services by every hotel personnel made me go with the 5 stars. Every hotel personnel we’ve encountered were very friendly, approachable, proficient in English and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Check-in was quick and easy. We really appreciate the tour of the room explaining every function and amenity included in the checked-in. One night after a long taxi ride back to the hotel, I had to use the restroom urgently and needed to use the one in the lobby. Instead of just pointing me to where the bathroom is, the women in the front desk walk me over to the bathroom. Those small details displays extraordinary service. We ask the hotel staff to decorate our room to surprise the bride with balloons, confetti and banners. They did a superb job putting everything together.
Facilities - 3 stars:
Lobby was not as impressive compared to the photos and had construction dust. Luckily the hallways and rooms did not have any construction dust and are very clean. We did not get to use the pool and spa as it was not yet open.
Location - 4 stars:
Hotel is situated near the the Sant train station and the L3 metro line making it easily accessible to public transportation. It is somewhat easy to flag down a taxi outside the hotel. You can always go across to street to the taxi stand at the Sant train station to get a taxi. Hotel is a quick 15 minute taxi ride from most attractions and Las Rambla.
In-room Amenities - 5 stars:
The In-Room amenities provided are better than some of the other 5 star hotels I’ve stayed at. It has up to date smart technology. One switch controlling all the lighting. There’s a button for the automatic curtains and drapes. There’s a Marshall speaker that connects to your phone to play music. The large flat-screen TV is the biggest I’ve seen in an hotel room. There’s a Nespresso coffee maker and tea kettle for both coffee/tea lover along with a Japanese sake set and a tea set. I don’t drink coffee and is a tea lover so it was nice to not be excluded. There are robes and slippers provided. The bedding and pillows are all high quality and comfortable. The hotel offers daily complimentary bottle water, however housekeeping kept forgetting to re-fill. We just ask for it in the lobby on the way out so it wasn’t an issue.
Bathroom - 5 stars:
Yes, the bathrooms in Nobu deserves its own section. The bathroom looks straight out of an Architectural Digest’s magazine. It is very spacious and has double sinks, a large windows looking out of the city and a walk-in shower. The walk-in shower has a rain shower or hand-held shower option and has good water pressure. The bath towels are high quality and soft. The hair dryer seemed cheap but did its job. The basic garbage can in the bathroom seems out of place compared to the rest of the bathroom décor. The shower drainage couldn’t handle the volume of water from the rain shower. I had to turn off the water mid-shower to wait for the water to drain. If you take short showers it wouldn’t be an issue.
Breakfast Buffet: 4 stars:
The breakfast buffet is located on the top floor with magnificent panoramic views of the city, sea and mountain. Food were high quality and taste good and presented well, however the selection were limited for €35 per person. Service by the wait staff again were superb as well.
Con:
They were not able to accommodate the 2 queen beds vs 1 king which were noted in advance during the booking over one month earlier because it was a soft-opening.
