I stayed here for two periods during a business trip and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. And the rooftop bar is just exceptional - I love how the use is kept to mostly residents only which keeps it special. Will be back again with family.

I purchased the stay at the hotel, mainly due to the images on here of the roof top bar. My wife and I, thought it would be a great place to relax after a days exploring with a cold drink and a view.

Prior to arrival we had read that you needed to book for the roof terrace. Not a problem at all with that, and quite understandable due to it's location and views. So when we arrived at the hotel we specifically asked the very helpful receptionist about booking the roof terrace. He advised us as a guest of the Hotel we wouldn't need to book for the purpose of going for a drink.. We would however need to book to eat up there. Cool I hope that sets the scene for what was to come.

We took our keys and up to the room we went. I was very happy with the room, it was functional and clean. The window was broken and couldn't be closed properly. Not a problem in the weather as it was warm. We were on the 7th floor so that wasn't an issue. The issue arose at around 4 am when someone on the street below decided to allow there hot and expressive self come out in a heated conversation. When the ambulance drove past with sirens going. It was just loud street noise.

Ok so we got settled, and unpacked what we needed to and thought "come on let's get a drink and take in that view". Up to the 8th floor and onto the roof terrace we go. as we broke through the open doorway into the strong sunlight, we stepped onto the terrace. Eyes adjusted I was struck by an amazing view of the Sagrada Familia, then a short waiter approaching at speed barking at us in Spanish. We have broken Spanish but made out the question, had we made a booking to be in his domain. We said the wrong thing that didn't fit with his already aggressive attitude "No". I swear I saw him step onto his tippy toes before taking in a sharp breath and then start an aggressive verbal assault. We tried to advise him that our Spanish wasn't great and that we had already spoken with reception and that we didn't need to book as a guest of the hotel. He continued to argue. I waved him off and was going to walk away and speak with the manager, when miraculously he found us an empty table 6 feet away from him. We sat and he put a drinks menu on the table and walked away.

We sat for 20 minutes, and still no sign of the waiting staff. Actually that isn't strictly true. We saw 2x staff behind the bar, not making eye contact with anyone. There was also 2x waiting staff servicing the terrace area. Now I had 20 minutes to access the area and i took a mentlal note of 18 people on the terrace, mainly in couples. I saw that all apart from a young couple near us, all had drinks and I noted that several of the guest must've been Insta influencers by the way they were posing like film stars for the iPhones.
So after 20 minutes and no I'm not exaggerating about the time scale, my wife got the attention of 1 of the waiters, and asked to order a drink. We were told to wait. He then stood in the same position and did nothing further. It was laughable if it wasn't disgusting. We waited a further 5 minutes mainly out of interest as to how this was going to play out. Let me tell you that the staff proceeded to have a lovely chat, ignoring all of the guests on the terrace. We left without actually being asked what we would like. Blood boiling at having been B*llocked for being there in the first place, then completely ignored. We never returned to that bar after that event, and remember that happened within the first hour of arrival.

There is a bar near to reception, but we would've had to wait forever to get a drink in that one as it was never open or staffed.

As you can tell that the event as described influenced/ruined our view of this Hotel.
The positive points, The location and ease to get to transport around the city. The hotel was clean and well kept, and our room would be lovely on return from our trips out.

I really do like to point out the positive things in a review, and wouldn't normally rant like this. Go find out for yourselves, but please note the previous reviews, I am not alone on this one.
