Flew into Barcelona a couple of days before a Viking cruise and the pre-excursion hotel Viking uses was booked. With some blind faith we picked Hotel Sixty Two and what a surprise! What a quaint spot and your stay at Hotel Sixty Two will check all your boxes. It is also very affordable and much less expensive than the hotel Viking pairs with.
The accomdations were great! We had a private terrace off our hotel with a table and chairs and lounge chairs. What a perfect respite. The room has a refrigerator and Nespresso machine and there was always a carafe of filtered water. If I wanted some extra coffee pods, all I had to do was ask. The daily breakfast buffet had all the offerings one would need - pastries, salamis, meats, cheeses, teas and champagne. I especially loved the potato pie. All staff were cordial and customer service was stellar.
Walking outside the hotel directly to the right is a coffee shop. How convenient! The perfect spot to sip a latte or two and people watch. Walking outside the hotel directly to the left is a tapas place and down one block is another tapas restaurant. Anything you may need, such as a grocery/market or pharmacy, is going to be walking distance.
Hotel Sixty Two is about a mile to La Rambla. I walked it by myself, but one could easily take a short taxi drive. I set the Google Map app to walk and got there just fine and never felt uneasy being alone and I walked back a different way. I figured if I got lost, I would just hop in a taxi.
The hop on hop off blue bus line is about a block away and will hit all the major spots throughout the two hour loop, including the famous Sagrada Familia! They can book your tickets at the front desk for Sagrada Familia - beware you need tickets and I would suggest ordering in advance though. They book up fast and you may not get the most convenient time for you. You can also hop right on the bus and pay for the bus tour, you don't have to buy the bus tickets in advance.
Hotel Sixty Two is located along a strip that I would liken to Rodeo Drive. Every high end shop is right there - Givenchy, Chanel, Tiffany, Rolex, Hermes....
The accessiblity was perfect. From the airport, the drive was about 20-25 minutes and the taxi can pull right in front of the hotel. To the port, the drive was about 15-20 minutes and they can pull right up to the entrance. All taxi rides were extremely affordable. The taxi service in Barcelona is government regulated, so I recommend using a taxi vs. an Uber.
Hotel Sixty Two is in the perfect location for your Barcelona trip and will have everything you need for your stay.
