I decided to book this hotel as it was in a decentish location but unfortunately alot let it down and I wouldn't go again.

Pros.
* Nice decor throughout including Christmas decorations and a seaside/ocean theme.
*Good English music played in the lift and entrance floor.
*Decent shower.
*Cute fish etc in a tank outside.
*Lovely pizza in bar.

Cons.

*Staff attitude including telling lies...

Some examples are...

*I go to check in and they tell me off and treat me like some sort of diseased person just for taking off my mask so they can see it is me on my passport. Said check in lady said that the roof top is open to take drinks to, well it was never open during opening hours when I tried to go.

* My first morning there is a knock on my door and it was the cleaner, she clearly understood no English and even though NO means NO in Spanish also left my room and put an ok to clean sign on my door !

* Staff only seem to want to fully understand English when it is convenient to them, I asked one lady if the story on the news was in Spain and she pretend she didn't know even though she could read the subtitles unlike me if she wasn't so lazy.

*Lies at the bar in relation to food I ask if the dish came with anything extra and they both said no and thus I ordered more and then the dishes come out with multiples of the same things/ side dishes. They lied to get more money out of me.

*Don't sell cocktails you don't even know how to make!

* They advised me to go to a clinic down the same road for a pre flight Covid test, said test wasn't conducted properly, trust me I should know as I have had a Nurse do one before an operation. They will get comission.

*Breakfast as a whole is no where near good enough. You have the Croissant for the French , this for that nationality but nothing for the British and considering we bring the most tourism to Spain it's not good enough. No warm food at all. Some sort of bizarre omlette that was of fridge temperature and was horrible.

*Silly wooden tongs given at breakfast are useless and break and not good enough for people with coordination issues and or hand disabilities. Also the fact that you can't get a clean plate after you have eaten something messy is stupid.

There was a little confusion when we checked in as we booked the room with the outside terrace but was given a larger room on a high floor but without the terrace. We popped back to Reception and was given the terrace room on the 4th floor. Loved the terrace it was just a pity the weather wasn’t warm enough to sit outside though.
The bed was extremely comfy. Our room was cleaned daily and the cleaning staff were lovely.
Breakfast is “Continental” and had plenty of choice. It did get busy around 9.30 and the hotel had signs advising guests to try to avoid this time. I liked that everyone was provided with individual tongs to pick up their breakfast items - very clever idea.
Really lovely roof top pool which would be super in better weather.
The hotel is in the Bogatell area. The whole area around seems to be being redeveloped and there is also a lot of street art.
An easy walk to the beach and marina area.
There are plenty of restaurants (poblenou area) within a 12 minute walk although we did also have snacks at the hotel which were very tasty and beer served by the lovely gentleman /chef
There are a couple of small supermarkets by the metro station - about 3 mins walk.
There is a mini mall with a large Connsum supermarket as you walk towards the marina - about 6 mins walk.
We walked to La Sagrada Familia in about 25 mins.
Taxi from the airport cost us 37 euros but we did get stuck in very heavy traffic.
Taxi to the sea port was 11 euros. (Las Ramblas to port 8-9 euros)
A special thanks to Andreia, who has excellent English and who helped us find somewhere close by to get our pcr tests and also to Mergi who kindly printed out our certificates.
We also asked for a 1hr later checkout which was given without any difficulty. All the staff we met were really friendly and cheerful.
The staff are very strict on ensuring face masks are worn and the reception, bar and breakfast area were kept spotless. Lots of hand sanitizer available. Lift buttons were cleaned regularly.
So much more than the 2 star rating !

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Poblenou district of Barcelona where we had to be that night. Reception was friendly. Rooms have a little more style than the average Ibis hotel, the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom worked well. I find it expensive for a 2* hotel at the weekends, there are better options in Barcelona. Also, they have parking at €14 for 24 hours which is reasonable, however from 20.00 on Saturday night until 08.00 on Monday morning, street parking is free. One problem we all had in our 2 rooms was the temperature - far too hot and impossible to lower. We opened windows. We didn't have breakfast, preferring to go a short walk to a local café/bakery.
