It’s ok really

Reviewed Jun 11, 2023via mobile
Booked into by My Canada Trips, reception efficient, room fair size, and clean. Bistro did a reasonable English breakfast muffin for C$6.50 and you get a 20% senior discount on food!!
Starbucks coffee unfortunately but it was ok.
Apparently room would have been C$320pn had we paid directly.
We were on the 4th floor, and not too much noise outside during the night. Hotel entrance on Wood Street,
24hr supermarket around the corner on Yonge St.

We were only here for 3 days, we weren't in the room much just to change or sleep. The hotel is a great location and the staff are nice. But its old and you can smell it when you walk into the lobby or your room. Our maid was a very nice lady . An uber driver told us he heard they are going to tear down this hotel and rebuild.

Room tip: The location is great, Starbucks in the lobby is great a Shoppers Drug Mart directly across the street. Its loud sirens going all night long

Stayed for 3 nights here and the rooms are incredibly clean and the staff are so helpful and pleasant. I highly recommend going to the bistro bar in the lobby. It is one of the best hotel lobby bars/bistro ive been too and I've travel across Canada. The bartender Jess is amazing at what she does! So pleasant, hard worker and will make you an amazing drink! She will even offer to make a special drink, something she just thinks up and they always taste amazing. She also has great knowledge of Toronto and gives you advice and tips on where to go and check out. Very impressed with this hotel!

The lobby is nice, the rooms are good, and the staff is kind. We drove in from Baltimore on a Sunday night after our Sat and Sun flights were canceled. I’d called early Sat morning and was told a note would be added to the computer to not release our room. Well, on Sun the front desk had no record of the note or the reservation for two Queen beds made through Hotels.com
They kindly gave us a new reservation, which we soon found was a King room (small for a mom and teen son) and the price for four nights was about the same as what I’d agreed to for five nights. The reason I’d booked this more expensive hotel over the cheaper/breakfast-included Holiday Inn nearby was that the rooms looked larger, and the pool and hot tub looked nice. We were moved to a two Queen room the second day, no problem, but then I put on a swimsuit and found that the pool was CLOSED, under construction.
Your only option is valet parking at $48CAD per night, and it’s awkward if you realize you’ve left something important in the car because they have to drive it to the entrance for you, even if you don’t need the car itself. I'm pretty sure I was charged for parking more days than we were actually there, but I didn't get an itemized bill for that.
The coffee bar and bistro/bar in the lobby is nice. The hotel offers free laundry machines to guests, but you sometimes have to thread through convention-goers and their buffet lunch plates with your laundry. It’s just awkward placement.
In the room, there is a tiny refrigerator and coffee maker. Shampoo/Cond/Body Soap are provided, but no body lotion. It was a decent hotel, but I doubt I’d stay there again.

My husband & I were booked into this Hotel at the start of an across Canada trip for 3 nights. Had we done more research on the location and facilities (particularly the Restaurant), this would not have been our choice, as the hotel wouldn’t be in our preferred location, being a bit more out of town than we thought. However, whilst there, our room was kept immaculate by housekeeping, the Reception Team, and any staff we came across, were also polite and helpful. The Restaurant (or should I say Bistro/Bar multi-function area) was also not what we expected. This area is open to Reception, and guests walking by from the North Tower, it isn’t particularly comfortable as a bar, if you wanted to relax, just functional for transient guests. It has a limited choice of food (certainly in the evening) should you arrive late, or not have a reservation for local eateries, which was disappointing. As it was part of a package for us, I’m unable to say how cost effective it was, and would suggest anyone looking to book, make sure you research for price & location first.

The good:

Free Wi-Fi
Good sized room
Comfortable bed
Big tv
Good toiletries and towels
Tea and coffee making facilities
Good shower

The bad:

Not the best of areas
30 mins walk fro Union Station
Poor breakfast
Pretty noisy from road traffic and people up to 3am
Expensive drinks 25 CAD for 2 beers!

Overall not bad, but think I would do a bit more research before recommending fully!
