Affordable B & B in the heart of Toronto’s Downtown Queen Street area

Review of Alexandra Hotel
Reviewed Aug 1, 2019
This is an affordable B & B in the heart of Toronto’s trendy Queen Street area. If you want a no frills, self-catering, studio type room ((double and single bed) that’s handy for the amazing, Downtown area with its bars, clubs, shops, theatre and arts - then this hotel is for you.

The reception staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and the reception area offered a good selection of snacks and drinks. It was a perfect for an impromptu overnight visit and was good for the price.

The room was grubby and old (although the sheets and towels were clean) and the facilities really poor. I only stayed here because nothing else was available except extremely expensive alternatives at the time I booked. The location was good as I wanted to be nearer the city centre. I left after 2 nights as it was horrible instead of the 3 I originally booked. I suppose the hotel is not responsible for the guests they have - on my first ride down in the lift I was accompanied by two young women, one of whom offered me tips on what to see in town and the other was occupied in barfing into a plastic bag she had with her.

Came to stay here for a few day's. It was not that great. The place was clean. But not to my liking. I would not go back. The hotel staff where nice. Walkable areas. The park is just across the street from the hotel.

I am a student living here for 2weeks. The room is not fancy but really comfortable. Staffs are friendly and helpful. And what i like the most is the location. I can do all i want nearby the hotel. Park, Kensington Market, Downtown, etc... But there is a problem with Wifi. Sometimes wifi is disconnected frequently. Except that, I like this hotel.

I'm a French student, and I lived here for 6 months, the staff are very good and smiling, they can call a taxi for you, cleaning is done once a week minimum and done very well.
The room is comfortable, I had everything I needed to cook but it's old. Yes I had a Studio alone, the worst point is wall insulation, because you can hear your neighbor. It's embarrassing when your neighbors do sex things...
However, I advise you to reserve here, you are in downtown and near a supermarket (Loblaws), many shops to buy souvenirs and many parks.
Enjoy your travels.

My husband was in Toronto western hospital and this hotel was handy and reasonably priced. Place to leave my car and walk to hospital. Hotel is very old but perfect place to lay your head down after long days at the hospital
