My home away from home

Reviewed May 30, 2022
After 5+ years, Mel and her team are always welcoming and accommodating to our needs as guests at Days Inn Winnipeg Airport.

We usually stay in either a queen or king suite because we enjoy the additional privacy and soundproofing of a separate bedroom. The pricing is mid-range and affordable, and I've felt that we've gotten more than we pay for. This hotel is also one of the very few who still keep and maintain wired Ethernet ports in each room, because Wi-Fi is generally too slow for my work requirements. I wish more hotels would recognize that wireless Internet is less secure and slower than wired Internet, but their foolish loss is Days Inn's gain.

Although some of the staff have changed over the years, Mel is as much an irreplaceable fixture of Days Inn, and every time we return to the hotel, it's like coming home to an old friend. That said, we do like making new friends, because new staff like Victoria are a welcome addition.

The proximity of the hotel to the airport, my client's office, and the Polo Park area makes it easy and quick to get around for work, travel, food, and entertainment. Throughout the pandemic, Skip the Dishes and DoorDash have almost always delivered directly to our door, and I've even had parcels mailed to reception for safekeeping and final delivery. The facilities are always kept clean and housekeeping services have been respectful of COVID-19 safety requirements even after the Manitoba government relaxed restrictions, which I appreciate.

As a fellow business owner, I notice many of the little touches Days Inn does to redefine hospitality. For example, there is a rule that when a guest uses a luggage cart to transport items to the room, they are supposed to return it to the lobby. But I've seen staff bring back abandoned carts in the hallway without a single complaint many times.

That said, I do not appreciate other guests who don't realize there are human beings running this hotel. Rude, arrogant, and highly demanding people have no place at this fine establishment.

If you take the time to get to know the people behind this hotel, you'll realize they are amazing people who are working hard. I would never want to own or run a hotel, but the people here are doing such a great job and I left this review to show my appreciation to them and show others why they should - or shouldn't - stay here.

Whenever I'm visiting Winnipeg for work or leisure, I'm proud to call Days Inn my home away from home! I hope you will too.

Title about says it all. The hotel was clean which is always a big bonus but also o. The dated side. The door leaving the pool by the hot tub appears to be made half way out of rust at this point. The decor in general is dated as well. Staff were however very friendly and everyone we encountered was great!

Valued guest,
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and found our staff very friendly. We do apologize about the pool door however the salt water does make things rust. We are in the process of updating our property. Due to back logs on our orders, it is taking more time than we had hoped. We do hope you will continue to come to visit us again and see our updates as they come along. Take care!

It was a good stay overall most staff were friendly, our room was clean good the hotel and pool are a little old. And one awkward thing is that there is no bathroom in the pool, didn't see anyone go upstairs to use it in our room, only I was doing that with my kids. Hot breakfast is back and was delicious! Very fair price for the friendly service and clean rooms.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you and your family enjoyed your time with us. We always enjoy having families come and stay with us! We are also happy that you all had a chance to enjoy our hot breakfast buffet during your stay as well. We do have a public bathroom down the hall from the pool area in which we guide guests when they ask us for the facilities while using the pool. We look forward to seeing you and your family in the near future. Please take care and stay safe.

A big thank you to the management and staff of Days Inn, very understanding, accommodating and humble staff. I took my Mom for medical appointment, after 8 hours of travel she needed some rest before we start our day. They allowed us to check in quite early ( before 1 p.m.) and offered us drinks to warm ourselves. We enjoyed the pool, gym, grab and go breakfast and everything else. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family 😊

Dirty, cold, drafty room, there was a snowbank in the hallway from an emergency exit that didn't close, so there was a constant breeze.
Had to block the door with towels around it.
Paid for a queen room, the room had double beds, and one of the beds didn't have sheets on it.
When I told the front desk, I was told "we are at capacity and our staff is very busy, you and your child can just share the other bed.

The room had not been cleaned since whoever used it last. Had to buy cleaner and do it myself. Ice bin still had water in it, the room was visibly dusty and dirty.
Clods of old dust and hair all around the room. Rolls of toilet paper on the floor as the toilet paper dispenser was broken.
Closet door was broken.
Cabinet doors were broken. Heater was broken and curtains were several inches too short for the windows.
"Breakfast" was a paper bag with a cold stale muffin and a yogurt. When I asked for a 2nd yogurt cup so my child I could each have one I was told "no, there is one breakfast per adult guest."
I attempted to address my concerns with the front desk and they said a manager would contact me. Nobody did.
I contacted them again when I got home, again was told a manager would call me. Nobody did.
A week later I called again and was told by a manager they would look into it and get back to me.
Another week later, I called again, later that day a manager contacted me and apologized, without any further resolution or explanation as to why the room was in such poor condition or why the staff were unable to address any of the issues during my stay.
Avoid this hotel, there are plenty of others in the area with better reviews. Pay the extra few bucks and get a hotel that isn't so run down and filthy

Dear valued guest,
Thank you for your feedback. We are totally surprised by your review as this is not how our property is. We always do a courtesy call to our guests shortly after check-in to ensure everything is good with the room and we keep these records, you were called and you stated the room was fine. We also would not tell a guest to share a bed when we could have at least supplied fresh linen. The front desk manager did speak to you and started an investigation into your concerns about the snow pile and open emergency door as well as the bedding. this did take some time to speak to all parties and departments involved. We did note that the night you stayed the winds were gusting and some snow did come in the doorway when people opened it but it was not left open. We check all of our entrances frequently for safety reasons. We also have the rooms checked prior to check-in. Then when you were informed that you could not get a refund due to pre-paying the reservation, you were offered a discounted rate the next time you came to our property. You did seem however interested in staying for free and posted this review instead and added more to your story than the two issues you brought up to the manager. Best wishes to you. Take care and stay safe.
