This was our first time in Mexico and also our first time at an all-inclusive resort. We were so excited to go on this vacation with our adult children but are very disappointed with the reality of what happened to us. Here are a few of the worst:
1.) Sales presentation of their Circle One travel club disguised as a welcome breakfast and pampering. Right after checking in on the first day, we were directed to a lady named Rocio who told us that she will explain to us the layout of the resort and give us some tips to enhance our stay. She booked us for a welcome breakfast the following day saying that for spending time with her, she will give us two free massage vouchers at the spa. The following day, when we met up with her for the breakfast, she told us with a big smile and even a wink to make sure that we let her boss know that she is doing her job and that we should say that we were told ahead of time that we will be spending 1-1/2 hours with them for a presentation! Not wanting to embarrass her, we of course said yes when we were asked if we were aware that we would be spending that much time on their presentation. The Circle One presentation was a hard sell that costs $13,000 for the “privilege” of using their website to book discounted vacations! We told them “no” so many times and in so many different ways but they just would not quit. They even advised us to restructure our mortgage to include the payment for the travel club and when we said no we would not be comfortable with that, they even said to get out of our current property rental business because if we could not even add $100 to our monthly mortgage payments then we will not be able to handle the regular mortgage payments at all!
2.) Although big and clean, our room’s a/c and electric fan were hardly working. The drain in our shower was also not working well causing water to build up every time we took a shower. We complained several times to the front desk and were told that they would fix it, but no one ever came.
3.) Very weak to non-existent Wi-Fi signal
4.) Food in their buffets were plentiful but very bland. So bland to the point that they all began to taste the same after awhile. Also, on the last two days of our trip, two our family members began to get stomach ache. One even had diarrhea.
5.) Lots of stagnant water around the entire resort due to swamps in the area. Thus,
the smell of stagnant water was very strong and there were lots of mosquitos.
The only positive aspect to ur stay were the wonderful cleaning staff and wait staff at their restaurants. They were all courteous and accommodating of our requests.
All in all, however, I would not recommend this resort to anyone and will definitely not book with them again!
