Firstly I would like to point out that I like to take this at face value and not be to influenced by outside option or other people's reviews.
Secondly Agios gordios is a lovely place. A little rustic for my liking but lovely.
There are some amazing people that live and work there and some great places to eat.
On to the hotel Irene apartments.
It's a three tier hotel.
With three types of apartment that apparently all cost the same and it's pot luck which one you get.
1. The basic roadside apartment. With lots of road noise, no privacy, tatty towels with holes, stinky bathroom with blocked drains and toilet that runs all night, five euros per night for air conditioning, a cleaner that tries to get in from 8.30 am and leaves windows open while you are out so anyone can get in.
Drunk staff or people related to management using an empty appartment and coming in at 6am and being so loud that it wakes the whole block.
Management that don't really care as you are in the cheap block and deal with noise yourself.

2. Middle acccomadation called poolside, which by the way you can't even see the pool as there is a great big stinky dried out river bed Chanel with poo pipes running through.
These appartment have been updated and seem to be smaller and yet you can still get the roadside with traffic jams with cars, coaches and motorbikes running at all times with them beeping their horns.

3. Then you have the wellness spa which everyone wants and all the adverts are based on.
This has been built very recently and the owners live on the top
(The owners consist of mum and dad, mum is Irene cooks for half board with one choice give what you are given meals. Dad is grumpy and takes inflatables and balls of children in the pool and pops them.
Then there is the daughter the manager who is also Irene her cute baby and her smarmy partner)
Wellness suite customers get luxury and nice bathrooms, new towels, dont have to pay for air conditioning even though they pay the same.
From what I see is if you have stayed at the hotel previously and you are matey with the management or the guy behind the bar you get to stay in the nice place.
It's all very cliquey as there are groups of people that stay every year and think that they own the place.
It's all a bit weird if you ask me and depends if you are going peak season.

The pool is nice and so is the bar and restaurant, although I would say it's a little pricy.

This hotel wasn't for us and I would definitely not stay there again.
We made our family holiday ( me my wife and two teenage boys) the best and did our own thing and enjoyed eating out and swimming in the pool (which by the way is very deep).
Irene the daughter (manager) is not entirely honest and is rather complex from what I can tell.
It felt like some sort of hierarchy with some people trying to dominate the pool etc and not considering others which became irritating at times. Because they came every year they can do what they like.
You will also start to realize that they are the ones that write a lot of the reviews so it's a bit out of balance.
All in all ok and my tip would be fight for a nice room. Apparently Irene doesn't answer emails but will reply to Instagram.
If by some pot luck you get the wellness spa with no road noise etc I should imagine you will have a great experience.
