The room is spacious and allowed privacy for relaxed conversation. This feels like a special restaurant; service was attentive although not overly fussy. We had tuna scarpici, Los Murales salad with fried calamari and litchees, and grilled fish entrees (grouper topped with almonds and boquinettte with a light sauce,) all of which was well prepared and tasty. Also an excellent light textured dark chocolate dessert. Low key live music added to ambience. This restaurant warrants its high rating. We'll go again.

This restaurant had amazing food and incredible service. Our server was Antonio and he was such a great server when we reserved another night we asked for the same server. He was very friendly and really made sure we had the best experience. At our second night dining there Antonio brought us a great selection of shrimp for an appetizer because we were going to be waiting a while for one of the dishes we ordered. Both of our nights there were amazing and we felt very well attended too. We will definitely be revisiting this restaurant again.

My husband and I want to thank the wonderful staff at Los Murales for great service and food during our stay at the Royal Haciendas. Waiter Antonio prepared a scrumptious tableside steak Diane, Carlos remembered us from past visits including our drink preferences, and Leonel suggested and served special appetizers and desserts. Delores is a gracious hostess, and always helped us to get a nice table. The food was always delicious with attractive presentation.

We are owners at Haciendas and have been dining at Los Murales for many years. We were very disappointed that Enrique, the captain is no longer there. Big loss.
Tonight was our the first time since they changed their menu and it was a very disappointing experience. I don’t know who changers the menu but obviously this person needs to reconsider their selections. We met Chef Daniel who was wonderful trying to accommodate our expectations. My husband has always enjoyed the appetizer of avocado and shrimp. What they serve now was not to his liking and he returned it. Fortunately, the chef was able to prepare it after he returned their “new version” Los Murales has always been considered Continental cuisine, now it is mostly seafood including lots of shellfish selections. Management has not taken into consideration owners requirements. As an example I am allergic to shellfish and they offer 2 soups both shellfish. In most restaurants of this level there are choices to satisfy and accommodate different requirements.
On a positive note, Chef Daniel was wonderful accommodating our requirements and, as as always our waiter,Rafael, was great.

My husband and I dined at Los Murales many times during our two week stay. The food and service were beyond our expectations. Carlos was our waiter on several occasions and remembered our preferences, made helpful suggestions and coordinated with chef Daniel, who visited our table, to make a special dessert for us. Carlos noticed us at Rotunda Bar prior to our reservation and greeted us by name. We highly recommend Carlos the waiter, and chef Daniel.

Whatever you order at Los Murales, prepare to be amazed! literally everything on the menu is outstanding, 1st class! The quality of the food cannot be surpassed and the table service is 5-star yet not overly pretentious and annoying. Try the lamb chops or the filet of beef! The seafood soup is to die for! You can order table preparation if desired. Anything from Ceasar Salad to Steak Diane and flame dessert and coffees. They will make it the way you want it. Great selection of wines and they can make any drink you wish. My go-to place to eat when staying at the Royal Haciendas!

This restaurant is located within the Royal Haciendas Resort. We always eat here at least once on our week at the Haciendas; however, we decided to enjoy two nights instead. We always receive superb service at this restaurant and with all the menu choices, we don't have a problem selecting something delicious. Thursday evening I had the skirt steak, which was deliciously seasoned, and my husband had the Cornish Hen entree. He ate every piece of meat off that bird...he said it was delicious. Our waiter, Leonel, was so awesome Thursday evening that we asked for him again on Friday. For Friday's entrees, my husband had the Steak Dianne prepared table side. Seeing Carlos work his magic to make that entree special was quite the show, and Leonel served me a special of coconut shrimp with grilled vegetables. The tamarind dipping sauce was delicious! We were so full from dinner, that Leonel was unable to entice us with a table side dessert. Maybe next time. While the meals were delicious, it is usually the service that brings us back again and again. See you next year, friends!

We ate their 4x this year-Antonio let us relax and enjoy our meal. Lamb & steak were great, might have wished for more fish choices. Table service cooking (both steak and desserts) is available ,

The food and service at Los Murales is never a disappointment. There were some changes to the menu and we were disappointed that the Lobster Bisque was no longer on the menu. Our server asked if we were coming again and we told him the date and sure enough, we came back at the end of the week (Sept.26), they had Lobster Bisque for us and it was incredible. This is service beyond anything we expected. Thank you! So sorry I cannot recall the name of the server because he was incredible

We've been coming here for years. So nice to have a new menu with options for everyone including vegan and vegetarian. I had a vegan vegetables in phyllo dough and a quinoa salad and grilled vegetables. Everything was very good. Other dishes were a citrus salad and fish entre. Also very good. We shared a raspberry tart with what they called chocolate cream but it was more like chocolate mousse and lavender ice cream. Delicious. Service was excellent. We enjoyed the live music as well (solo guitar player).

Los Murales is a lovely experience and should not be missed. The decor with its mosaics and lighting is just exquisite. The menu choices are varied and will meet any taste. Food preparation has always been spot on, with rare meaning rare and medium meaning medium, and although that should be a given it is unusual to always get it right and the chefs here always do. They are careful about special needs and will prepare your food to those needs. The wait staff is also exquisite. Leonel was our waiter for the majority of our visits there and he is a maestro of making the meal flow. he added a great deal to the meals!

We loved this restaurant. The meals are served in courses and are excellent. The wait staff is wonderful as well. The stuffed avocado I highly recommend. If you like pasta the crab penne pasta is so delicious. My daughter loved the meringue dessert with vanilla ice cream. Fantastic restaurant!

On a pink cloud after a delicious dinner at Los Murales. The Ceasar salad was prepared at the table by our server Carlos. All the ingredients we hand mixed in a wooden bowl. This become dinner and a show while we watched Carlos crack each egg with a spoon and fork.
The grouper was seared and tasty. We ended with coconut mousse and bananas flambe.
Overall it was a delicious meal with terrific service. Carlos took good care of us making our dinner special. Muchas gracias Carlos.

Los Murales is the fine dining restaurant located in Royal Haciendas Resort. We have been eating at this restaurant for 15 years.
The service is top notch, with servers who are passionate about your experience. Leonel Escobar is a current example of the kind of server you will find here: professional, trained, informative, yet personable.
The food has always been outstanding. Each course is creative and mouth watering, from the stuffed avacado appetizer, to the clam chowder, to the Ceasar salad, to the salmon filter, and finally to any of the excellent desserts.
Carlos will set the mood all night with his classical guitar playing.
Delores will strive to accommodate your needs as hostess.
From top to bottom, a great place to enjoy a nice meal in Playa del Carmen.

This dining experience was a let down. Disappointing food -- presentation was good but the food itself lacked flavour and was simply not at all impressive. Our table of 4 ordered different appetizers and mains each and we all tried most of the dishes ordered. Only one dish of all of them was considered good. Even the desserts, while they looked divine, were disappointing in flavour/texture. To top it off, our server could barely be bothered with us. He was not friendly and operated as though on auto pilot. After all the hype and the effort to get a reservation, we had high expectations and were so looking forward to experiencing Los Murales, but this didn't come close to meeting our expectations. If we return to the resort, we will definitely skip Los Murales.
