There aren’t many places that gather as many areas of interest for the cultural and natural heritage of Lanzarote as Cueva de los Verdes, a unique mythological-looking cave, full of legends and extraordinary landscape and beauty. It came about after the eruption of the Volcán de la Corona, and it’s one of the most impressive hidden wonders in the depths of Lanzarote. It was used as a hideout by the locals who needed shelter to protect themselves from invasions and attacks of pirates coming from the north of Africa during the 16th and 17th Centuries. In the 19th Century, it became a must for travellers, experts and European scientists due to the uniqueness of this volcanic territory, named after a family that kept their cattle in the area, the story goes

Great fun for families with young children.
After reading other reviews we decided to go early and arrived at 9.30am. It was already busy due to a few coaches already arriving and they seem to get priority over standard admissions. We started our tour at 10.30am, adults were €10 each and under 6’s are free. So it’s very reasonable if you’ve got you r children. All tours are guided with about 50 people and it lasted 45 mins. We all really enjoyed it, even my 4 & 5 yr old who were a little apprehensive beforehand about how dark and spooky it might be. But if you’re claustrophobic it’s probably not the tour for you, as there’s parts that are very narrow and other bits with low ceilings. Otherwise I’d definitely recommend, just aim to get there before 10am to avoid a long wait.

    Cheap & exciting visit !! 🦇 🦇
Arrived at midday and the car park was almost at capacity but we found a space and waited in line for 45mins before entering the caves. Admission prices are reasonable, worth mentioning that your kids are 12 or lower for a much lower price with no proof of age required 😉 Knowledgeable and friendly tour guide who took us through the dark and tight caves and passageways, not for the claustrophobic or faint hearted. Recommended to all 👍🏼

    Wonderful colours and different formations
These saves really are gorgeous - you can come of course under your own steam either with or without a car but it was easier for me to use a tour bus. A lot of people get the hump about such busses jumping the queue as they see it but the reality is that they book their time slots and these have to be adhered to. I have visited many different caves in different parts of the world and these really are stunning - and quite vast. The colours are spectacular with the reflections in the water around the edges and the different rock formations and shapes - a good camera as well as good boots are strongly recommended.

    Unforgettable and Unmissable
Absolutely incredible, wish we could of spent longer down in the caves walking slower and in a smaller group. I would love to walk through alone and take it all in. A stark reminder of natures power and our very small blip of time on this earth. A very humbling experience. Some small gaps and narrow stairs, mostly a tarmac path leads you through.

    Stunning
Absolutely stunning we went with a tour company and the tour guide was so informative which made it even more special, to have a basic understanding of how this place is. Be ready for ducking & wear comfortable foot wear but you will be amazed. The more you go in the more it surprises you. Truly worth a visit.

    Fascinating Visit
This was a fascinating look at a unique formation of caves as well as sitting and enjoying the caves. In addition, while there wasn't anything there when we were there, there's a lovely cave theatre where various events are staged. Strangely, there is also an underground club which operates on the weekends. Apparently, you can't get there on your own but need to do it as part of a tour

    Must see
Must see! Access only allowed with guided tour. We got there for 10am and joined 1st tour which was in Spanish and English and some French too. We had our 4 and 6 year olds with us and had no issues whatsoever. Our guide Christina was very knowledgeable and funny. She was also very attentive to our boys. The cave is very impressive and I preferred it to Jameos del Agua.

amazing - you MUST see this !
Read about the caves on our morning of our last day in Costa Teguise. And wow - followed up with booking online (no guarantee you will get on , but in Jan was ok it seemed. or you could do orgaiised tour but we did not have that long ). Took a taxi (approx 35 euros each way) that hotel ordered for us . got on the 11 am tour. DO THIS TOUR ! Its amazing. And nice as there is literally nothing else there (ie not touristy gift shop etc, but yes toilets). Stunning and such a top tip for your stay in lanzarote .

    Great.
Great trip. I'm v v v scared of heights so was worried about shear drops and stairwells with a drop on one side. But.. not too much of that. I'm really bad, but apart from from sweaty palms, I managed fine, keeping to the side on pathways etc. Tour guides were great. Wonderful, interesting tour. Some steps to undertake etc, but the v elderly lady in our group with two hinking poles, managed it, if a little slower than the rest. If you are an an extremely claustrophobic or anxious person, make sure you have a hand to hold onto.

    One of best Lanzarote experiences
Cool caves with some class formations. Some places require some level of agility and bravery. Deffo not fully sterilesed experience with hardhats and safety hernes. Quite unique due been formed by lava flow not by water or earthquakes. Highly recommend when around.
