Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Let’s start with the positives
The hotel was super clean and the bathroom very nice for a hotel of this caliber. We had a nice walk in shower with new subway tiles and there was also a great blow dryer. The facilities were clean and it was right on the beach. The staff members were very nice and that if you tip them pretty much willing to do anything for you.

As far as all inclusive goes. You definitely get what you pay for here which is very cheap alcohol -I would definitely stick with the rum or beer. The vodka Tasted like lighter fluid. There’s no such thing as diet Coke so if you don’t use sugary drinks you’re kind of screwed. The breakfast buffet was nice the cook To made
omelettes were best thing

The dinner was pretty gross so we opted to have dinner on the beach. I think if you’re just looking to go to the beach for one night and you live in the capitol it’s a fine option but I certainly wouldn’t say more than two nights here

We chose Boca Chica because is close to the city. It was our first time staying at Whala but when got there were surprised. The hotel is clean, the side of the beach is nice eventough you have all the people selling stuf because beach is public, but there is no space or noise from the locals that usually ruin the beach. The food was ok, the thing that didn't enjoy was the drinks but again knew they only had generic drinks.

Would visit again.

I must admit my family and I got scared when we booked and saw so many bad reviews, but now I know they were not fair. I have been to 5* hotel and this is obviously nowhere near, but it's fair for its price, I am not sure what people expect for something so cheap. Rooms are big and really clean, the cleaning service is amazing. The beach is beautiful and sea is clean. All inclusive package very worth the money, we had very good breakfast, drinks at all times, lunch dinner and bbq of burgers twice a day. The only thing I could complain about is that many things in our room didn't work/broke easily but I must say the hotel reception has been amazing and always sent someone up to repair in no time.
I would totally go back. If you expect a 5* hotel to get pampered, that's not it. I personally just needed a comfy bed and nice food, my priority was the beach.
Also, there's indeed dogs on the beach, but they are harmless and don't bother anyone. Only thing they could improve, is the state of sunchairs. I suggest going very early in the morning to reserve a space on the beach because by 9am everything has been taken already.

Smaller resort with short walks to the beach, pools and bars. Very clean property. We booked an ocean view front room which was amazing and worth it! Room very spacious and fabulous with large balcony overlooking the beach and ocean. Very comfortable and clean. Drinking water hot and cold located on every floor to your comfort. Restaurant bellow our hotel room few steps down. Excellent food, very hygienic and sitting in hot plates. We enjoyed every meal. Plenty of salads, vegetables, fruits, pineapples, watermelons, mangoes etc. Grilled meat, fish, excellent pasta, French fries...delicious food. Don’t understand how can someone dislike taste of the food. Part of the ocean which is for this resort is smaller and ok but next beach to the left 1 min walk is so beautiful, safe, fantastic clear water safe for swimming. We loved this resort. Few things were not pleasant, every minute some vendors bagging you to buy something or offering massages, braids etc. Lots of locals partying especially on the weekends next to our resort, very loud blasting music with heavy bass but it was interesting experience. Also they don’t need to blast the music so loud at the main pool which was unpleasant to many guests. Overall fantastic holiday with great memories. Thank you to all the hard working people in restaurant and resort. Drive from Punta Cana is a bit long, but excellent driver, very nice and professional. It’s about hour and a half, but we new it and it’s fine, you are on vacation so enjoy it.

The hotel is very outdated and filthy. The food selection is very limited and restaurants are not kept in sanitary conditions. We saw many flies landing on food . We also received dirty place mats with food residue from previous customers. The griddle in the restaurant was not cleaned properly to the point that omelets turned out to be brownish from the residue.
Rooms were not better. Stained sink and the countertop in the bathroom, dirty grout in between floor tiles both in the bathroom and the room. The room and the bathroom smelled like sewer mixed with mold. Air conditioning was not working and leaking. AC vent filter seemed to be never replaced or cleaned.

Our balcony was tiny, dark and faced the the yard full of demolition debris.

Both swimming pools were tiny. One had no water, the water in the other was mixed with floating garbage. Pool beds were very dirty - we saw some hotel guest trying to clean them.

The beach is narrow and small, with many vendors trying to sell stuff. Within the first 5 minutes we were approached by at least 3 of them.

In short. This so called 'resort' is nothing as it seems to be judging from the pictures published online. Avoid it, unless you can tolerate filth and unsanitary conditions.

It was our vacation, but we could not wait to leave and go home...

Worst hotel experience! Food is hideous & rooms are very outdated. Struggling to see where the 3 stars for the hotel are coming from. Locals are rude and racist, always pushing into queues. Dinner is at 6.30pm & on the weekends avoid, all the locals pile in and pools, bar & majority of space is taken up by them. Some staff are very nice but majority serve the locals before the people who paid loads of money to stay here for their holiday. Evening entertainment is non-existent & the kid’s entertainment begins at 10pm which is bizarre. Once the entertainment is finished around midnight all the locals get drunk and stumble into their rooms around 3-4am crashing and banging on your room door. Snack bar at the pool bar is ok, probably the only thing edible throughout our stay, burger or hot dog but be quick because the locals take the majority of it. Looking forward to the holiday finishing and I can head back home. If you do somewhat stay here make sure you request to stay in a room away from the entertainment stage.

My mom and I stayed here for 3 weeks. My 85 yr old mother is a clean fanatic and she was so impressed with the cleaning our housekeeper completed daily. We both totally enjoyed the food, all the staff with exception of activity group
The security team were amazing and we felt totally safe and protected. They have about 7 beach dogs who protect the beach area diligently.
We would highly recommend this establishment with the exception of activities group.

This hotel caters more for families. The food is not brilliant and the replenishment is even worse. The entertainment caters mainly for children, we went outside of the hotel to find good food and entertainment.
Do not arrange trips with the company that has a desk in reception they rip you off.
The area the hotel is located is great but the service from staff seems to vary depending who is on shift. We had a good time and enjoyed the area but we would not return to this hotel.

Firstly… this hotel is racist against white English people. We were treated like scum the entire holiday. We were not served at the bar or at reception and just ignored. The food is not short of awful and everything is cold with an inedible mixture of foods. The staff ignored us and the rest of the locals staying at the hotel just stare at you. The rooms are dated and the bathroom looked like a throwback to the 60’s with broken tiles and dodgy windows. There was never any hot water from the shower either. Truly an awful experience. The sellers on the beach harass you non stop. Oh and the music in the evening goes on until 4am with loud base and a majority of the rooms face the dance and stage area. Avoid at all costs

Stay your A Double S outta here! That's the nicest way I could say it. Never again. Nevvvveeeerrrrr again. Um Ummmm. Nope. Door didn't lock. You have to pay for a lock on the safe. You might wanna get eat a hard boiled bag of sand before you eat the food. When I pulled up to the property I thought we had the wrong address. If "you get what you pay for" was a place this would be below that. Mosquitoes literally seem like they rented the room instead of humans. Security is non-existent. I could write alot more but this will do for now
