This hotel room was so outdated it had a "cottage" feel to it :) but it was very clean and the bed was comfortable, and that's all I needed. The hotel is located by a main road so you can hear the cars pass by, so if sensitive to this... you should consider it.
Satelite tv and WiFi was available.

I had lowered my standards when I booked, knowing this is a small town, privately owned motel. It was unacceptable in my opinion and needs some updating, immediately!

The carpet, is older than my 40 year old husband! I was afraid to be barefoot... The curtains and bedding are so old, room smelt very musty. It was not worth the 80 some dollars per night. We drove home instead of sleeping here.

Another reviewer mentioned a cottage feel? Maybe a cottage that's been closed up for 50 years?!

We booked two rooms in this hotel to spend the night before our Owl Rafting Whitewater trip on Ottawa river. Arrived late (about 10:00 pm) and were surprised to find nobody at the reception (reception lobby did look like the place was completely abandoned). Called the phone number from the website and the guy said he would be there in a few minutes. He indeed arrived soon and took us to our rooms. A room for 4 people was pretty tight, but clean and comfy. A room for 2 was more spacious. Overall positive experience. Don't expect much but for the money you pay is pretty good.

We decided to book with this Hotel mainly because it had airconditioning, we felt the price was reasonable when we called and inquired. My first clue to this "horrible experience "should have been when I called. A vague hello ,no indication that i had actually called a "Hotel". excuse, becasue he was answering his cell, gave up the business # as it was too costly. i was told i would have a queen size bed or possibly a King for $75.00. We arrived after check in , around 4:30 and we were shown a room, and it had a double bed. Asked about the queen size ?? Is that not a queen size ,James asked.REALLY? So he offered us an adjoining room with another double so that we each could have a bed with no extra cost.We felt that was fair but he had not cleaned the room ,bed linens had not been changed etc. James said give me 1/2 hour and it will be ready. So we waited, After the half hour, wanting to get settled and no cleaning of the room happening, I went to find James. His excuse was that he was trying to sell a chicken, which by the way, he had been raising them in an adjoing room ( I have pictures) and they are living in a pen behind the hotel (also pictures) I had read other reviews about him renovating and went being aware that it may not be totally finished (after1year mind you) but the garbage around, garbage, pool with green water, hottub with black water, laundry room with sheets and towels piled high ,obviously not been done for months. There is no excuse for that. I wonder why this Hotel has not been shut down to health reasons and really now wonder about the 4 star rating. I would advise you to stay away from this Hotel ,stay far away. And I really wish i could have posted all the pictures i took of the broken glass, old toilets sitting around, We had to ask many times for towles, we got 1 towel and a facecloth for two peoplel and had to ask again. Apparently the towels weren't dry and customers keep stealing the towels was his excuse, No hot water in one of the rooms to wash in the sink.I really could go on but the pictures really tell the tale, The kitchen thank God was not open as it was full of garbage and kid's toys.

this is a small hotel in Shawville----we were there for a family wedding--it is an older hotel ,but vey clean and the owner James and his staff are very friendly and accommodating a couple of things I would suggest is to take your own coffee/coffeemaker as there was none in the room--I like my coffee in the morning so when in doubt I take my own--glad I did--it is close to town and a very nice restaurant called Cartiers has supper great food good service and the prices were good too--I would stay here again if need be----one other thing would be nice if a small fridge was in the room, although we were given lots of ice--

I started out renting a room for my mom so she could rest during my niece's wedding nearby ...then my brother , sister and daughter each rented a room so it turned out to be a family reunion ...we even had live music since it was during Waystock a local music festival . The rooms were very clean even if they were a bit outdated and the homemade breakfast was excellent ... I will be back for sure

Nice clean, back to the 80's,well balanced and presented well.
No food on site, restaurant closed years ago, lots of choices for food in Shawville, 8 minute walk, 2 minute drive.
Owners are very pleasant and helpful, the staff are locals, stories by the handful, nice central location for day trips to see all the Pontiac wonders and make your own memories of your visit to the great old Pontiac!

I believe there are new owners. Two great guys who we talked too... Rooms are older but bed is comfortable and clean. No cable yet but rooms did include free breakfast.

70 per night is cheap....

Would stay here again...
