We booked this awhile ago and just as it was time to go a hurrcaine came for a visit. We called and they were nice enough to let us postpone for two days. We arrived on a Monday and it was pretty empty, we had booked a superior site and noticed that there were 4 empty sites in the ultimate sites. Asked if we could up grade and lady behind desk was rude and just kept saying No, No, No there booked for friday remenber this is Monday. Oh, well not a great first impression.
Did have a nice site (22) only problem with these sites is when it rains, and it did often the ground in front of the RV got really muddy.
The pool is small but really clean and spa nice and clean also. We were the only ones in it for the first four days come friday it was completly different. Lots of weekend people. One thing that was alittle upsetting was they closed the pool at 7:00pm, during this time of year that's a bit to early.
Grounds are kept clean and sites are a okay size.
Lots of weekend RV's and snowbird sites.
Well, all and all I would go back for Monday leaving friday.
And at the end out of the 6 ultimate sites only three were rented for the weekend.
Oh well, their lost.

We love this place. The staff and people are very nice. We caught fish, saw dolphins and manta rays right from our site. The pool and hot tub are nice. Fish cleaning station, bathrooms and showers are clean. Sites range in price so do your research. We will be back!!!

We were there for 2 weeks. Great location almost all water front sites, a bit packed in and parking for vehicles was not good. The managing couple need lessons in customer service. The wife is down right rude and the husband really just ignores guests. Continually I heard slandering of guests behind their back and I'm sure I was also. I thought management was supposed to be available 24/7 but this couple was gone on their boat all day quite a few times and gone almost every evening. It would be a persons dream to run a place with such potential. What a shame! Makes you wonder if the owners know what is going on.

We have visited many RV parks and this was, by far, the least of all of them. Very tight spaces with only weeds for "green" between sites. Dog "walks" are a joke and an insult to dog owners as they included a small square and a long strip of green area. The pool closes at 7pm, with a pool "guard" to run you out. If you happen to have a visitor, you should expect a knock on your door warning you that only one car per site is allowed (same guy as pool guard). The washers and dryers are outside, subject to the salt and sand that is normal in beach air. There is a bar just across the water and we dealt with the base drums from the music until the wee hours of the morning. The location was about the only positive thing about this park.

As I was pulling in the Security officer wife asked if we needed help.
We said no it's ok we got this. The spots are very tight and you block the road for anyone entering or leaving while you are parking your RV camper. She proceeded to watch us and called her husband to help. As I said we parked fine and didn't need his help. She never asked us where we are from or any friendly hello. She was extremely rude. The pool closes at 7pm! Closed they watched us and came to the spa and turned it off right at 7pm. We asked why they close the pool so early? The person there said put it in the suggestion box and then complained Who was going to close the Very small pool after 7pm?? So rude... As we are leaving again the wife of the security guy said if your ready to leave because there was a traffic jam. We are busy hooking up and helping a friend hook up all before 11am. She was so rude. We all were sweating and working on hooking up in the heat and she was so disrespectful. I will never go there again. If you want OLD people monitoring your every move and being rude this is the place to go. Such a shame because this place has lots of potential. Half the park was empty! Now i know why. May 1st we left and gladly.

We have been going to San Carlos for about five years, always had an enjoyable time and found Spencer, the previous manager to be accommodating, helpful and always exhibited the utmost professionalism when dealing with us. Apparently, at least according to what we were informed of yesterday, the owner has turned this property over to a management company and not only is Spencer no longer there but you can not speak to the owner because, "he has nothing to do with this place anymore." The park recently built six new "premium,' sites and the policy was that when you rented that site you had the right of first refusal, meaning you could reserve the spot for the next year at the same time. Last year, upon our departure, on January 5th, we reserved the spot for this year and paid the deposit. We did the same thing after our stay in April, booking the site for the April 2017 stay. After receiving our kid's school calendar this year, I called on September 12th because I realized that the dates had shifted for Christmas break. I spoke to Denise, and she told me our booked site (D) was booked right after our original departure but that she could move me over one spot to (E) for the remaining dates and sent an email confirming the sites an the reservation. Each year we take the RV down to Ft Myers in October and store it throughout the season for usage at San Carlos. When my husband was at San Carlos in October, he noticed that there is a lot of construction going on in front of sites E & F. He stopped in the office to ask about how long it would be going on and was informed that we had been moved out of site D and placed into site E for our entire stay, which would put us looking at the barges and construction for our whole stay instead of just the tail end of the stay as had been confirmed in September. Denise informed him that it was Spencer who put us in site D (which was what we booked) and that someone else had moved us into site E for the whole time. I called yesterday and spoke to Denise again to ask why were moved out of site D for the first week of our stay and I was told that they do not guarantee sites. I asked then why put the specific site number on the reservation and why have the right of first refusal rule. I was very frustrated that we were the FIRST bookings made for this year and could not understand why were were moved to the worst spot die to the construction, especially since we had a reservation for a different spot the first week. At that point she told me, "if it were up to me, you would not even get a spot because your husband came in the office upset about the spot change." At that point I told her we were the first to book and have been moved from the spot we booked and it's frustrating. I asked to have the owner call us and at that point she told me that he had nothing to do with the property, I then asked to speak to her manager. She told me the manager's name was Alyssa and that she would call my husband today to discuss. When Alyssa phoned my husband today, she told him that all he did was "complain," and that she was going to cancel our reservations for both stays and "ban," us from ever having a spot there again. This kind of unprofessional behavior is inexcusable. San Carlos confirms the sites in the reservation, by listing what spot you book. A small blurb at the end saying they don't guarantee a site is contradictory and on top of that when you have guests that were the very first to book for the season, seems to me that they should have understood why were upset at being moved in front of a barge. Canceling our reservation was spiteful and indicates someone who has zero idea how to deal with the public or take any responsibility for their actions which led to us questioning why we were moved. I suggest using extreme caution is booking anything with the RV Park, because if the people running the front office don't like what you have to say they will just cancel your reservation.

I’m in the parking lot waiting for my wife to be treated for pneumonia after our stay in San Carlos.

When we arrived, we were assigned a spot that was so small or 25 foot trailer would only fit if they inserted us with a tractor.

The couple (actually three people) were heavy-duty chain smokers. They arrive back from the beach late in the evening and filled our trailer with smoke even though the windows were closed. There was no real way to move late at night so we endured the first night.

The next morning the tractor came and moved us to a site in the corner outside of the work yard. There was air at all Near the site. Smoke just accumulated and by the time we return from the beach there really was nothing we could do.

The site was interesting in that it had to water faucets hooked to utility supply pole. We are unfortunately hooked to the wrong waterline and contaminated our trailers water system with non-potable water before we figured out the other seemingly equal water faucet had the drinkable water. We never did figure out why the place wanted to punish their customers for using water.

The third side was generally acceptable. Although people around us were smoking there was an affair but had we have not already become ill from the first two sites we would’ve survived. We learned our lesson about the water, flushed our water system, and relaxed until the next morning.

At that point we found we were assigned the dog walk. I love dogs. I enjoy greeting the dogs. Every one of the owners cleaned up after their dog. However by the time we left the next morning at 7 o’clock our trailer smelled from urine and was full of the flies the dogs tracked after they’ve done their business.

We are hoping she can leave the urgent care facility with medication and not have to be hospitalized after a three day stay at San Carlos.

One good point, I learned several new four letter words when I asked the heavy smokers next to our trailer to give us 30 minutes without smoking while I hooked up to get out. It seems an axiom the chainsmokers are also rude to their neighbors. Wow they are certainly allowed to kill himself with a smoke, I sort of feel bad for the 14-year-old girl that is being raised in such an unhealthy environment.

There are many campsites close to the beach so you may be tempted to book with San Carlos RV. Not everyone disliked it as much as we did. Some people don’t mind the smoke, many people don’t mind what dogs leave behind, and for these people San Carlos is a good sign good spot.

Really torn on how to rate this campground...all of the promo pictures are of the large sites that have plenty of space & were taken when the park was not full (may be a great place to go then). We took our travel trailer for 4 nights & stayed on the water. Beautiful view over the canal, wonderful snowbirds that are set up there for the long haul - many were French Canadian so fun to hear the multilingual discussions around each social circle
We made our reservations 5 months ago or so & were told we could only pick an area, not a site. That was fine & we were placed in our area. While we were there other campers that had been told the same thing were forced to change sites because someone was coming in & they already had that site reserved ....what? These people had there reservation ahead of time & had not extended their stay yet they had to pack up & move 3 sites down? That is a really poor management issue.
When we arrived our site was incredibly tight & our neighbors car was slightly on the site ...the office sent some wonderful people who helped us get parked ... great handling by management. In the short time we stayed there were 3 fender bender accidents due to how tight the sites & lack of parking and this is a small campground. Better vehicle options need to be put in place (yes you may need to lose the use of 1-2 campsites but a little bit of breathing space would have been nice). Poor planning by management
The location is outstanding - we rode our bicycles over to the beach (much quicker than by car ...the back up is terrible this time of year), to the bait shop, fresh fish markets & restaurants. Was definitely the best way to get anywhere. Good buying by owner of property
The pool was small & we did not get a chance to use it but it looked clean. The front bathrooms were cleaned well but the back bathrooms were not ....we arrived on a Saturday & the showers were a mess until Tuesday when they were actually cleaned ... that explained why we saw so many people choose to use the front facilities. Never saw anyone coming around to check ...again poor management
One would think the fishing would be good but only catfish (not the edible kind) & sting rays were taking the bait while the mullet & dolphins went by. No see ums were biting really good when there was no breeze so bring your bug spray. Natures hazards when camping...
FB is a place where you can edit your page ....but here I get to provide the full review ... we won't be going back to this park ...there are plenty to choose from in the Fort Myers area.

We were heading north up the Florida Gulf from Everglades and Naples the week before Thanksgiving when the weather turned cold to the North. We found this gem and then they were kind and understood when we were delayed, kept our spot 3 days. Next they gave us a great upgrade! Nicest people and very knowledgeable and will offer local resources. Connie especially helpful! Nice pool and Jacuzzi for a relaxing soak.New boat docks. We were surrounded by bay water, natural island hammocks loaded with birds and fish and Dolphins. Boat moorage at many spots is new and very well designed. We decided to stay thru the Thanksgiving holiday and then we Will brace the cold!

Was there over the holidays....nice site on the water, boat docked behind the rv...lovely sunsets. The park is close to everything, the beach is just on the other side of the bridge..close to Sanibel Island, restaurants and shopping..Staff was wonderful...yes they were doing some construction when we were there BUT the men doing the work were very pleasant...the park did everything they could to keep the noise and inconvenience to a minimum..and why complain, the improvements are only going to benefit the guests... The pool s nice..and yes, there were dolphins every day..would stay again

1mile to the docks. But cigarette smoke is so thick you may have trouble diving.
