Shocking title??? There really is a lot of things great too.
The hotel is beautiful, clean and spacious. The staff are absolutely fantastic.
The beaches are pristine and very well kept, no garbage anywhere.
Now on to some other notables that will ruin others holiday's.
I live in the bush off grid in the summer, so for me some was not a big deal
1. The main area's are good for mobility to a point. The floors are marble so very slippery, there are ramps in most of the main areas. Some buildings are main floor access but most rooms have flights of stairs even on main floor so be sure to specify.
2. NO RESTROOMS available in any public area for mobility. They are there, but screwed shut. I brought this up and I was called a liar until I physically dragged manager to the ladies doors.
3. emergency phones in rooms bathrooms, actually both phones in rooms do not work so you can't even call for a shuttle to get you places.
4. Snack Bar re-heats french fries, so at noon you get the previous days and they are HARD! The chicken/tuna sandwich is just chunks with beans thrown in.
5. Pizza at snack bar although made fresh is made with shaved, you guess, hot dog! My husband was excited and thought whoo hooo ham, nope, shaved hot dog.
6. Speaking of dogs, at the buffet you can have dogs cut in ketchup (which otherwise you will never see) dogs in beans, gravy, with cheese, in cabbage, sliced plain, with eggs, you name it you can get it. Needless to say the fresh omelette I had every day had the shaved or chopped hot dog excluded.
7. Al La Cartes - 2/3 of the restaurants were empty at most sittings yet my family and I could not get a table for 4 let alone a time other than 9pm....wtf????
8. The beds are extremely hard and the pillows , well not a pillow really to speak of.
9. On the 3rd floor a/c worked very well
10. - buffet in general, fresh eggs the way you want in the morning, fresh fruit. Lunch and supper can get pork, chicken or beef cooked the way you want. lots of salad and fresh fruit. I also have food allergies so my selection is limited, but still found good food to eat every day.

The resort was far below our expectation. Rooms are simple and not really clean. The staff is friendly but not really interested on doing their jobs. On our arrival day we ate something in the snack restaurant outside and the chef just took some steaks which felt on the ground and put them back on the plates.
The beach is beautiful here and the drinks really generous.
The main restaurant suffers as well from the cleaning point of view. In fact if you come at the end of the meal program you will not enjoy at all your meal.

I'll keep it short and concise, just got back yesterday
The good:
beach and water, the best
Pools good
Tennis court, kind of run down but a plus imo
Food was decent, coffee great
1hr of free wifi per day
Entertainment was quite good
Catamaran was awesome
The bad:
Sandflies and mosquitoes the absolute WORST
NO white wine whatsoever, very poor red wine 1 kind only, ran out often at every bar in the resort
Ran out of beer a few times at different bars, once ran out at entire resort (WTF...)
Room kind of run down, AC was not working at times and I suspect hasn't been cleaned in ages.. i have some mild allergies and was going nuts
Saw some small cockroaches in the room a couple of times
Minibar is a complete joke, you get a bottle of water and 2 diet pops, some cuban brand, when they have them. They missed it altogether on 2 of the 7 days...pbbly ran out...
Buffet runs out of plates often and the plates and glasses aren't washed very good
Staff is attentive if tipped, you get service regardless but tips are greatly appreciated
Altogether I would not go back to this resort, although it's not a complete write off
Oh and if you want cigars, the nearby Estrella market sells them cheaper than the store in the resort.

Where to start!!! Amazing girls vacation!! We left for Cuba on February 3/20. After a long day of flying and than the bus ride we arrived at the resort we booked around 1am just to find out they lost our booking and had no rooms available for us and about 30+ other people. So after about 2 hours waiting in that lobby they moved us to Be Live. We were welcome with open arms. They were super friendly and amazing to us. The next morning we had to opportunity to go back to the other resort or stay at Be Live. We stayed. Best decision ever. I want to give a big shout out to a few of the staff members that made us feel like family. Naomi at the pool bar. Supper sweet. Raisa at the 24 hour snack bar, extremely friendly and loving. Our buffet staff Louisa, Alejandro, Dennis, Yerandy and Fernando. Love you all. Amazing service. Our lobby waitress Ivon so sweet. Never left us without a drink. Our awesome omelette guy (Lago) I believe his name is. Best omelettes ever! Our housekeeper was great. I never got her name but our room was super clean and she always left us little animals or flowers made out of towels. So cute. Last but not least one of the gardeners Louis. Greeted us everyday. Brought us coconuts and flowers. Very loving man. Of course the management was extremely excellent to us. The food was pretty good for Cuba. The resort and the bedrooms were super clean. Even the grounds were clean and no trash laying around. I will definitely be back. I miss my Cuban family already. Thank you all for making our vacation extra special.

We currently are staying at Be Live Cayo Santa Maria. Wow! That is all I have to say about this resort!
I have travelled to Cuba 7 times in the past 4 years and never did a repeat stay. I have to say I would absolutely come back to this resort.
From the moment we walked in, the reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and thorough. We were then helped by the a wonderful man named Andres with our luggage. They have these carts where they take the clients and luggage to the bungalows. On the way to the bungalow, Andres gave us a tour of the entire grounds. We never had this at any other resort.
The services that they have are amazing. They have an ice cream stand by the snack bar. The pools are gorgeous. The beach is to die for. There is a daily stand to get fruit kabobs of the sweetest juiciest fruit. Several bars, including a 24 hour bar and the nightly shows are amazing.
The food is delicious. We have been to other resorts where the food isn't great, but the quality of the food here is fantabulous.
The rooms are clean and I love the set up of having the sink outside of the washroom itself as I bring reusable cups and I hate having to wash them in the washroom. The beds are fine, the pillows are flat so if you plan well you can bring your own pillow. They refill your fridge with 1 bottle of water 2 beers and 2 pops. The air conditioning works perfectly and cools the room quickly.
The only complaint I have. . . Are the other tourists that come and ruin it for others. They are rude and entitled. They treat the staff poorly no matter how above and beyond the staff go for them. The reception staff, kitchen staff, housekeeping staff, servers, EVERYONE of the staff works so hard for every single one of their guests.

The resort was clean and the staff were amazing as always. I have been to Cuba several times and had no expectations about the food. This is common knowledge. However, I have to say the food this time was terrible. They really need to do something about the lack of selection and the unappealing look and presentation. I don't know how many ways you can disguise hot dogs and how many way bananas can be prepared. Its a shame really, as Cuba is such a beautiful place to vacation.
As well, the walkways/small roadways to the blocks of rooms, were not adequately lit at night time. If we couldn't get a golf cart to bring us to our room after dark, we had to resort to the flashlights on our phones. It was VERY dark. This is a large resort, so the rooms are spread out and a bit of a hike to the main area.
They only had red wine to offer at diner. There was NO white wine available unless you wanted to purchase sparkling wine at 21 pesos. There was also no Rose, again you could purchase it for about 8 pesos. And no Club Soda or Tonic. Just the Cuban version of 7UP
Disappointed overall with the food and beverages. But you can't beat the beach and the hospitality.

We visited this resort for seven days. At the end of our last day we were thankful it was over and so we can move on to a different location the next time. Sunwing is selling this package all inclusive with 3 dinners in a private restaurant. Non of that is true. Those private restaurants exist but Like el Fuego and El Criollo but the booking to get there is so complicated. They keep changing your reservation from authentic Cuban food to an Italian menu then to International at the end they close without notice. Then you are sent to the main restaurant for the buffet takes place. We had to go out of this place to really eat descent food. This food experience in Cuba is to remember to say no to this location next time.

I have travelled to Cuba 4 times and have been to many resorts over the last 30 years. The hotel and front line staff were good and very helpful but management was horrible. We could not get in our room due to a malfunctioning lock without the help of housekeeping or a lock tech during the first 5 days. This did not happen once a day but at least 5 times a day with reassurance that the lock is fine. When I went to the front desk for the 10th time to ask for help I was totally dismissed and told this is a guest services issue. I tried to explain that I need help that this issue is not getting resolved... I was told to go away and sit down someone from guest services would talk to me. No on ever came. My daughter who’s room was next to mine was also having issues with her door lock. She came to the front desk also when I was waiting for guest services and was also Dismissed no one ever came to help us we waited 45 minutes. My daughter was able to get a bell boy to help.. he had a technician take the locks right off. 3 hours later on the 5 th day I was given a new room the bell boy made this happen not front desk or guest services. I am so very disappointed in the management these type of issues should be dealt with right away. I will never travel to this resort again. This was a very frustrating and upsetting week.

I went on my vary first trip this year to the be live hotel it was an amazing experience the staff are amazing. The entertainment staff also known as the animation team, they are great people and they make shore there is always something to do, shows, music and dancing by the pool and many other things during the day.
The food is amazing in the buffet, the waitress and waiters are vary friendly they always have a smile on there face, same with the waitress and waiters that work in the lobby.
The rooms are are clean and comfortable thanks to the lovely hard working maids.
I highly recommend this resort I had so much fun my stay was amazing, the people the food the cleanliness it’s all amazing.
The food is amazing in the buffet, the waitress and waiters are vary friendly they always have a smile on there face, same with the waitress and waiters that work in the lobby.
The rooms are are clean and comfortable thanks to the lovely hard working maids.
I highly recommend this resort I had so much fun my stay was amazing, the people the food the cleanliness it’s all amazing.

We arrived at Be Live tired out from the trip and the bus ride for our third trip to the same resort. We were checked in quickly and efficiently. Got the building and the rooms we had asked for and found them well stocked except for drinking water in the fridge. We were disappointed to learn that the lunch buffet at the building near the beach still hadn't been repaired but was out of commission like it was two years ago. The wooden paths to the beach had been replaced which was a bonus for me because I have mobility issues. The resort was generally in decent shape thanks to the men who worked hard to keep it that way. The staff was very pleasant and were helpful when something was asked of them. The only problem we encountered this trip was the shortages. All week there was no red wine at the buffet. There was a bit of white wine the last day we were there. There was a shortage of pizza dough for four of the seven days we were there.These two shortages were a real problem for our group and a couple of other groups with Italian roots. The buffet staff do a fine job.
