Nestled on a prime beachfront, the Southern Palms Beach Club garners praise for its stunning views and clean, comfortable accommodations, despite some opinions that the rooms and amenities could benefit from modernization. The hotel's vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music and celebratory flair, is a highlight for guests, although there have been a few mentions of noise. Cleanliness is consistently celebrated across the board. Visitors appreciate the competitive pricing and the range of complimentary activities, finding the hotel to offer good value. The staff is often commended for their friendliness and dedication, although a few guests have noted slower service at times.

We spent four nights here on a short break from St Lucia.
The welcome from Jenny Wilson on reception was very friendly & we were checked in very quickly. The location of the the hotel is fantastic - right on a beautiful long beach very handy for an early morning walk and swim. The whole place was very clean and efficiently run and although the room was quite small it had everything we needed.
Southern Palms is right in St Lawrence Gap so all the bars and restaurants are very easily accessible - all a short walk away. Breakfast at the hotel was very well run, fresh fruit, cereal, and the usual hot breakfast with freshly cooked eggs. We did not have any other meals as we were only on B & B.
We were very happy with our stay and would like to thank our namesake, Miss Wilson and all the other staff for looking after us so well.
We will be back!

Location is probably one of the best in The Gap, a few steps to Dover Beach and surrounded by restaurants within 2-10 minutes walk.
We were in room 312 with 2 balconies, one over the beach and out to sea, the other over the pool and also out to sea.
Would have given 5 stars, but the room was like a 1970's motel and definitely needs upgrading, in saying that, the bed was really comfy and the air con worked perfectly.
All the staff were great and nothing was to much trouble, only booked bed & breakfast, but had a couple of meals in the hotel that were very good and reasonably priced.
The hotel does not put sun beds on the beach for hire, which is public, so get your own sun bed and towel and deposit yourself on the quietest part of the beach.
The hotel has a sort of time warp appeal, where people actually talk to one another, which gives it a really good feel.
Having felt disappointed at the start, we soon fell into the spirit of Barbados and had a great time.

This hotel reminds of of something in days gone by. This is the type of hotel that you would picture Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra at, it is a throw back to a more romantic era of travel.
It is an older hotel, I think that one of the buildings dates back to the 50's. The room decor and fittings are a bit older, but clean and functional.
The grounds of the hotel are something that you can walk through with green areas and courtyards. If a hotel was built on the same area today it would be a concrete covered 1000 room vacation factory. As it is now it has more charm and atmosphere then any new hotel.
The beach steps from any room in the hotel is magnificent. What sand and uncrowded. You can look 200 meters to the south and see an umbrella jungle. But the beach in front of Southern Palms may have 4 umbrellas total.
For me there was a fun little surf break right in front of the hotel and the snorkeling was excellent. We swam with turtles every day. At the north end of the beach there is a reef and rock outcropping that had as much or more sea life then the Marine Sanctuary.
I can not say enough about the excellent staff. The hotel rep, Kelly, was very helpful and always available. The grounds keeper and master of water sports, Rodney, was so accommodating and helpful and genuinely friendly. He even let my wife feed the fish and turtles in the hotel ponds.
The hotel clientele seemed to be in an, older, age range, which suited us. It could not have been more peaceful.

Location: Right at the beach! Plenty of restaurants, bars and convenience shops nearby. Short drive from the airport. Short bus/taxi ride to Btown

Rooms: We had a seaview room which is recommended. The views are lovely. However the room was also near the road with some crazy motorbike drivers at night + loud music from bar at the other side of the road. Bring your ear plugs The room itself was light an airy. The bathroom, however, very small. The shower an oldfashioned thing, In a sort of bathtub . It actually has a shower curtain, which by my standards always deduct a couple of stats. Even when frequently changed, they quickly get stairs and germs!! I am a big fan of tolietery dispensers, however these contained a very foul smelling stuff. Ended up buying shampoo
Comfortable bed, lots of pillows. Plenty of storage
Balcony with comfortable furniture . The birds there a nuicance though. Some people at neighbouring balconies attracted more birds by feeding them.. would have appreciated a rack or line for drying beach towels and swimwear.
You have to pay to use the In-room safe. Ridiculous!
Rather expensive to extend check out time. Shower room available for freshing up if you stay at the beach after check out , book time In the reception

Beach/pool
Beautiful beach with white sand. Like all beaches at the Island a public beach, but not bothered by selleres. A great thing is that unlike at the neighboring hotels, sunbeds are not lined up, you can place one whereever you want Guests do put out their towels on chairs before breakfast to secure their favourite spot, both at the beach and around the pool. Rather annoying behaviour, however luckily there are plenty sunbeds, less tables though. Not a lot of noise from jetskis or boats. Turtles feeding at the seagrass, please be kind and do not touch them or chase them. 2 pools not tried, however they looked clean and well kept. The poolboy seem to do a wonderful job

Restaurant
Breakfast not more than average. We found the restaurant to be a bit dark and lacking atmosphere, so we chosed to eat dinner/lunch elsewhere . Music - like sterk band- and even dansing

Staff
I would like to mention Linda In the restaurant and Edric In the reception as staff who stick out In a good way . I do not expect that everybody go around with a smiling face all day in jobs which are probably on the boring side, however some staff could try to behave a little bit more approacheable.

If you are the sort of person who likes big all inclusive hotels, never seeing the same person twice, then this isn't the hotel for you. However, if you want a smaller hotel, with a real Caribbean feel and friendly personal service, then this is the perfect place. Set on a long uncrowded strip of Dover beach, it is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. We had a fantastic room (214) ,as close to the beach as you could get, and went to sleep listening to the sound of the waves. The food exceeded my expectations and we never waited long for food or drinks. We were on half board. Some nights there was a buffet and others it was table service choosing from the a la cart menu. The hotel had lovely facilities. The main pool was a little cold but fine once you were in. We enjoyed our daily game of shuffleboard and there is crazy golf both immaculately kept. We did a one day tour with Island tours, covering Harrisons Caves, Huntes Gardens ( amazing!), Bathsheba, and St Nicholas' Abbey. Our driver and guide, Nari, drove very well and negotiated the bumpy roads with ease. Also visited, Bridgetown,Carlise Bay and Maimi Beach.
An excellent winter break, hard to go home!

Check in: Check in was brilliant. Staff on the front desk were very helpful. Always someone available if you needed to ask any questions.

Room: We stayed in Barbados for 2 weeks. The room was small, but the bed was comfy and the room was always cleaned on a daily basis. New towels were always given when needed. You got given two pink beach towels at the start of your stay, at the end of the day or the next morning you just had to do to the front desk to change them or the towel store round the back of the rooms.

Food: The breakfast was amazing at the hotel. We ventured out to different places for breakfast but always ventured back to our hotel because the value for money was so good and the quality of the food was good. We are here on a few occasions and the food was good! Also, you can drink the water here, so every morning we grabbed a jug of water from the bar, which obviously saved lots of money.

Staff: The staff here were very friendly. The front desk were very helpful. The staff at the restaurant were helpful and also the staff on the bar. Happy to help whenever needed.

Location: What a location! After walking down the beach during our stay… this is the best location to stay. You can sunbathe on the beach and watch the turtles coming up for air which was amazing! As you go left down the beach it gets busier! Thankfully Southern Palms have bright pink towels, which makes it obvious for those staying in the resort. The beach has white sand which is stunning. The water is blue, but as the waves can be a little tough… it makes the water slightly cloudy. The view is stunning, however because the tide is strong it’s not the best to swim. Also if you try to swim with the turtles the visibility is poor.

Trips: I would recommend doing the following whilst in Barbados.

- elegancebarbados. Such a brilliant catamaran trip! You can swim with turtles on this trip and it’s beautiful. Remember your underwater camera!

I would recommend trying lots of different restaurants down at Lawrence Gap!

we spent 16 nights in southern palms, expecting to isolate in our rooms for the first couple days of our trip, on arrival we found out we had a pool and outdoor area with sunbeds and chairs and tables to be in separate from the other guests, whilst we were quarantining! this meant we didn't lose any of our holiday whilst waiting for our covid tests to come back as we could still enjoy the sun and the pool.
every time you enter the restaurant staff make sure to temperature you and once again there was an allocated area in the restaurant for those quarantining.
beach was beautiful and we swam with turtles and fish less than 20 yards into the sea! |In the perfect location just a 5 minute walk to the main hub of St. Lawrence gap, there are so many bars and restaurants to go to nearby.

We stayed at the Southern Palms at the start of December and what a fantastic choice we made with this hotel.
From start to finish our holiday was brilliant, the staff were so friendly and attentive one member of staff in particular, Edrin (I hope I’ve spelt it correctly) was a credit to the hotel he went out of his way to help with booking a special restaurant for my wife’s birthday along with advice about the island.
The hotel is in a fantastic location right on a beautiful golden sandy beach where turtles come to lay their eggs and if you are lucky enough our we were, you may see the baby turtles hatch, truly amazing.
This was our first time in Barbados and it definitely will not be our last, we will hopefully return this year and will stay again at Southern Palms.
Thank you to all at Southern Palms for making our holiday so special.

We had a great evening starting with 2/1 happy hour cocktails after a short 15 minute walk from the entrance to the gap. We arrived in time to watch the sunset.
Dinner was good for most of the group (I had blackened Mahi Mahi and it was over seasoned) and the steel drum band was outstanding and played 3 sets. Definitely worth it. Make reservations for the bar area for better seating u less you want the buffet.

We went for Sunday lunch on two occasions to listen and dance to their excellent steel pan band. For a seaside location the prices were very reasonable. The rum punch, which was the cheapest we found on the Island, was excellent (and a warning – very potent). We both had the catch of the day which was served with baked potato – a nice break from the usual fries and we enjoyed our meal as did the other guest we were with. Unfortunately, the service was rather slow – it took 30 minutes to get our first drink. As part of a thirsty crowd, we started ordering the next round when a drink arrived. Given the potency of the rum punch, maybe the slow service wasn’t such a bad thing! Highly recommended.
