We were playing in a golf tournament in Clyde River and booked a cabin for 2 nights. After our first night, the owner came in the morning and told us to pack our stuff and get out. Apparently we were being kicked out for “breaking the rules,” by sitting on our cabin deck after 12:00. He drove by twice and never stopped to give a reminder or warning. We were told not to question him and get out. FOR SITTING ON OUR COTTAGE DECK between 12:00-12:30. We were not being rowdy, playing music, or anything. Just 2 ladies having a chat. And to add the cabin is remote from the other campers.

We’re not even sure we will be getting our money back for the second.

This guy is off his rocker and should not be in the hospitality industry.

What was supposed to be a weekend away with friends turned into a huge disappointment and aggravation.
We (the 2 of us staying in the single cabin) unintentionally and unknowingly broke one of the campground “rules” by being outside on our cottage patio having a chat past midnight. 12:15 ish. No music, no party, just 2 of us. We were not warned we were doing anything wrong. At 8am Saturday morning, we were told we had to leave the campground. The owner wanted nothing to do with talking to us about the situation or explain what we had done “wrong”. To top it all off he told our friends staying in the cottage next door they had to leave as well, simply because we had booked to be there together.
We respectfully left with no mess left behind or arguments. He threatened to call the Cops when all we asked was what we had done wrong. We have not yet received a refund for the second night stay, and not sure if we ever will.
If you want to have freedom to go outside after midnight this is not the place to stay.

We went here for a family weekend and will NEVER go back. Owners are RUDE and unhelpful. You must be inside you cottages by 12:30, owner came to our site at 12:00 and yelled "SHUT IT DOWN" , no manners at all. 12:15 the following night walking back from another cottage owners pulls up behind us and yells "Go back to your camp site or get the hell out of my park" Dead frogs and fish in ponds. No toillet paper. Other campers are just as rude as the owners.

Its a nice spot, to bad the owners have no people skills.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!

An absolutely horrible experience. We checked in on a Friday morning and told that we had an 11 pm curfew and that we were not to be outside of our cabins after 12 pm. One of our group went out on the front porch for a cigarette at 12:45. The next morning we were told to leave and not come back or they would call the police for breaking the rules. When asked what rule we broke we were shown a note that someone was on the front porch of our cottage after lockdown. Apparently they have cameras all through the campground and the owner creeps around at night spying on paying guests. Completely creepy voyeurism. Then we were told we were not being refunded for the second night because we broke the rules. What a total scam. We had to fight to get our money back.

The owners are rude, creepy and ignorant. Did I mention creepy? I will never go back and want to warn everyone else as to how horrible this place is. Stay Away!

If our place is so terrible why do we have repeat customers all the time.Every campground has people going around checking everything out in respect to others that are trying to rest. That's only normal and to have security cameras for guests safety as well as the staff. The money was returned the same day and we were threatened by phone a few times if the money wasn't paid by a certain time we would be taken to court.

On August 11, 2023 I had checked into a 2 bedroom cabin, 4 women attending a local golf tournament. That evening we enjoyed a meal and indoor games with 2 women from a neighbouring cabin. Shortly before 11pm, the guests at the cabin next to us left to return to their accommodations in respect of the curfew set out by the owner, Freddy Hemeon. Our lights were out shortly thereafter and we went to bed.

The following morning we were loading our vehicles to get to the golf course when the owner, Freddy Hemeon, arrived to advise we were to pack our stuff up, leave and never return. I thought this must have been a joke and asked Freddy for the reason we were being evicted. He told me that I knew the reason and that if we didn’t leave he’d call the RCMP. I explained that we had respected the rules and I couldn’t imagine why he’d be asking us to leave. His only response was that I knew what I had done. Our group packaged our cottage quickly as requested and I attended the office to get clarification on what had happened and to request a refund for the second night which had been paid in full upon check in. I was told they don’t refund and that information was posted in their office. I did gain knowledge that the 2 women in the neighbouring cottage had been seen, siting quietly on their deck smoking, after curfew hours. This was not a noise complaint but a breach of the contract stating you were to be inside your cabin by 11 pm. Seriously???? We were evicted because someone in another cabin sat quietly on their deck to smoke. There is no smoking inside the cabins so I’m unsure what a smoker is to do????

The owner, Freddy Hemeon, was extremely rude. I was told I would get a refund for the second night but surprise, no credit has been issued.

DO NOT BOOK AT CLYDE RIVER COTTAGES AND CAMPGROUND.

We have been in business for over 40 years and have repeated guests that return year after year.If we ask someone to leave it's for a good reason. We expect everyone to comply to our rules. The lights to the cottages the guest is talking about was still on at 1 am.All the other golfers have no problem for years. The money was refunded for the night but we didn't have to as we have posted we give no refunds. We also told her she could stay but she didn't want to and left.

We have a small dog so they gave us Birch cottage set farthest back on the property. I was worried about a cottage, but when I looked inside - wow! I could live here happily for a month. The porch has a swing for two and also a table and two Adirondack chairs. The full living room is on the right and the full kitchen is completely stocked on the left. Full refrigerator. My husband regretted not buying ground coffee, then we found a small container of it in the cupboard. The bathroom is large, the bedroom was very comfortable, the bed a bit softer than I am used to, but I slept well. Very clean, quiet. I swept out the wood flooring as we left - broom provided. As our dog appeared listless, we wanted to check him out with a vet before getting on CAT ferry in morning. The couple in the office were most helpful. She got us a worked-in appointment with her vet in Shelburne that afternoon. She gave us our cottage key back and said go relax for the hours in between now and when you need to drive to vet. So we enjoyed the porch on The Birch. All this for the lowest price we paid in all seven hotel/motel stops in Nova Scotia. It is 7 miles up Upper Clyde Rd after leaving route 103 exit 28. (just past the green metal bridge). Oh, and a deer and her fawn came out of the woods to say hello. What a gift!

I was taken here as a gift for my 50th birthday and the cottage we stayed in "Poplar" was very nice and pretty well equipped. The cottage rated a full 9 of ten with the only issues being a bit of a musty smell in the lower cabinets and the bathroom fan not working....pretty minor stuff. I like very quiet and private places so this place wasn't ideal for me because it was set in the middle of a family campground. I know that the people in this area are awesome down-to-earth people and the shelburne county area is absolutely beautiful so just because I didn't give it a full 10 of 10 doesn't mean its not there. Just one final word--this is a bit out off the beaten track. Ok by me but maybe not for all.
