Beautiful setting and very comfortable, accommodating room that is minutes from Peggy’s Cove and close to small fishing villages including Mahones Bay and Lunenburg. We stayed in one of the rooms with a deck. The room was very inviting and decorated very well. Very comfortable bed & pillows and chairs. THE VIEW WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! We enjoyed sunset from both our deck and the natural deck of large granite next to the water which had Adirondack chairs. Sunrise was beautiful too-one cannot see the sunrise from this location, however all of the colors reflect wonderfully on the water and the white granite. Everyone was so nice and friendly - the owners and the housekeeping lady. Wish we could have stayed another night it was so beautiful and affordable!

Spent 3 nights here (was supposed to be 2 but we actually stayed another night and changed out trip up). Used this hotel as a 'home base' for sight seeing.

Owner is lovely and friendly and accommodating. We traveled with a dog who was welcomed. Rooms were the best we stayed at in Nova Scotia.

Amazing view. Restaurants nearby (try Tom's Lobster Shack and Shaw's Landing), and I even went fishing (caught mackerel and pollock).

Highly recommended

Great place! Nick was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean even the pull out couch was comfy alot of little attention to details that were greatly appreciated! Amazing view from the room and nice seating out back near the water to have a cocktail and watch the sun go down! Perfect location!

If you think you might book here, you better purchase travel insurance. Even with two wildfires blocking routes to the motel, an air quality statement covering the area, and governmental travel restrictions in play the owner refused to cancel our reservation without charging us even though booking.com was amenable. Furthermore the owner was rude and would not listen on the phone when we tried to explain why these issues were prohibitive due to a health issue.

Despite the beautiful view, these accommodations were very disappointing. It was 2 degrees outside on the day of our stay and the heat was not turned on at all. It was so cold we stayed in our jackets and hats for a few hours until the room came up to temperature. The toilet was running all night long and we realized in the morning that the fridge where we put our food was not even plugged in. The bed was comfortable and the room was tidy but all in all, it was not a comfortable stay, especially for the premium price.

Cannot say enough good things about this little place! The view from every room is incredible. We stayed in Rm 1, the balcony was awesome. All the comforts of a 4 star hotel! (Maybe better)
Luxurious bedding and high quality mattress! We finally had such a good sleep! Awoke to be the first ones at Peggy's cove which is 4 min up the road.
Morning coffee was actually good!
After check in she called us to see if we had everything we needed for the night.
This place was amazing! Price was amazing as well!
The big oversized chairs in the room were perfect to curl up with a great book! Love this place!

We came across this place by chance, and we were going to pass on it because it wasn't listed in our AAA trip book, but the waterfront location was so stunning that we decided to give it a shot. We were very glad we did! It's a mom & pop place with very basic rooms - no phone, no fridge, but with comfortable beds, cable tv, and a shower with good water pressure - and strictly non-smoking. It's about two miles from Peggy's Cove and right on the ocean, and we were amazed to find a room in such a great location for only $71. Canadian per night. The room was very clean and we had no noise issues from other guests either night we were there. They were all first-floor rooms - I believe there were 10 units. I would definitely stay there again.

We stopped on July 6th, 2009. By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/09We had been driving the costal highway all day from the east, stopped here to check the room rates, 96.05 Canadian dollars per night. Desk clerk, her home is attached to the office, not friendly at all. About 830pm, she tells us everything, including the restaurant closes at 9pm in Peggy's Cove. We rushed back to it and got in just before closing. Showed back up at Clifty Cove at 10:20pm. Lady who runs the motel was hateful, she said she stated earlier that check in time is 10pm, and didn't want to let us look at the room first, the outside does look rather aged. So, we sign up, go to our room, outta there. The outside makes the drab, ancient furniture, and the warped old brown paneling on the wall downright depressing. We went back in under six minutes according to reciepts and asked for a refund. Motel lady was nasty hateful telling us we were quiet the nuisance. We had been polite with her at all times. She snatches a booklet out of her drawer telling me she couldn't give a refund then late admitted she didn't know how. Read her instruction book for the card machine for at least 10 minutes, keys everything in, and tells us a refund is complete. I told her the reciept was another charge, not a refund, she basically told us it was a refund, and she was locking the door. We left, GPS'ed back 15 minutes to Big Lake Lodge @ 5849 Hwy 333 in West Dover Nova Scotia. Clean, overlooks a big beautiful lake, man who owns the place lives there is very pleasant, happy to get up past 11pm and rent us a room for 98.31 in Canadian dollars. Got home, two charges for Clifty Cove on the credit card. So because the lady? at Clifty Cove lies now and said one charge is valid we have to send all the reciepts, Visa finds it interesting as well that we have a reciept the same night for another hotel. Moral of this story, unless you like drab run down hotels, with a hateful desk clerk to match, don't bother stopping at Clifty Cove on your otherwise beautiful drive through Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. It was the one and only bad experience we had on the whole two week trip in Nova Scotia, honestly. [--]

Hello, We went in September, and do not remember a BBQ. If there was one, it would have been very small. We didn't spend a lot of time at the motel, as Peggys Cove was our main destination. They had two adirondack chairs set on the beach at the motel. The beach is fairly narrow, but the view is very nice. They do have a general store on the main road not far from the motel which may have supplies. One word of advice, depending on when you go, the mosquitoes are horrific. Even with jackets and long pants, these guys were all around us. We didn't have this same problem with insects at the light house. Have a great trip!
