Stayed here for 4 days and found the hotel good for Copacabana beach and sight seeing. Disappointingly our room 804 had a side street view of the opposite building but when on the balcony you could just see the beach. Rooms are clean but small and compact . Staff are all very friendly and helpful.
The breakfasts are varied, delicious and items are topped up regularly. We tried the restaurant one evening and it has a great a la carte menu with a good choice although prices aren’t cheap.
The roof top bar and pool are a bonus as are the beach facilities.

Our room had a partial view of Copacabana beach which was great as you could see what was going on and have a degree of quietness at night when we were sleeping. The hotel was clean, tidy, modern and had a fantastic rooftop pool and bar overlooking Copacabana. The breakfast was amazing a good way of starting the day ahead of sightseeing and being a part of the fantastic atmosphere in Rio. Renato was one of the waiters serving us drinks on the terrace and more than happy for me to practice my Portuguese whilst serving us. He was friendly and his service was excellent.

The room was spacious with a fantastic bathroom. The balcony was nice and had a side view of the beach and it was nice to enjoy and drink and admire the view and the live music from a nearby bar. If you are on holiday in Rio, I would highly recommend this hotel!

As I look to now book a return trip to Rio and this wonderful property, I forgot that I had yet to chronicle my lovely PortoBay stay previously and will look forward to another visit soon.
Cannot find any faults or lack of comforts with this hotel and must commend the GM Mr Gustavo Zanatta for assembling such a kind and service centric team ! The lovely Simmone and All-star Sasha are amazing and assist and accommodate throughout your stay. The entire team supports this lovely property with smiles and grace to ensure your stay is exceptional. Even though it rained a fair bit during my stay, the rooftop pool was such a quaint and comfy place to chill and enjoy the view and sun. I'm not a buffet breakfast type tourist but it looked wonderful and with another great view and ocean breeze ( I would recommend the LF Bistro right beside the hotel for their espresso and menu ). I sampled alot of PortoBays lunch, bar and dinner selections during my stay and although limited, very good dishes and pricing !
They really go out of their way if you wish to hit the beach in front of the hotel with a special weekend service and regular ammeneties during the weekdays which is greatly appreciated.
A special shout out to the concierge champ Danny as he is the go to guy for all your needs and really goes above and beyond in ensuring you are well taken care of and safely transported during your stay !!!
Thanks Pirtobay and look forward to seeing you again soon !!!!
Mr. SCOTT

Location is very good, the tour busses for the attractions leave near by and the beach is across the street. The roof top bar is the real asset of the hotel, the rooms are small and if facing the front you got the main road which is extremely noisy. Reception and gym have no air condition. The breakfast is a great location on floor 5 and foodies fair, charging extra for a latte or an omelette feels wrong. The burger in the roof top bar is good value for money.

We stayed here for 4 nights in January and found this hotel to be very comfortable. Lovely big beds and a great bathroom. The hotel is right opposite the beach with a number of bars/restaurants in the vicinity. The pool area has an amazing view and the service at the bar was very prompt. I note some people say the hotel is dated however I think this generally the case in Rio unless you pay a higher price per night. My only criticism was that the room did smell stale which I think was linked to air con however don’t let this put you off!

We had a little suite facing the Ocean. Views were beautiful from our balcony & also from the rooftop pool & fitness room. Comfortable bed, great bathroom. Rug & coach a bit tired. Walking distance to many restaurants, laundry service & ATMs. Chairs & towels provided on the beach. We were a bit turned off at first to find out that they would not provide 2 free bottled water/day like all other hotel we have visited around the world. We thought it was just a bad policy of this specific hotel but we later found out that most hotels in South America do not provide that.

A few of the staff in the restaurant/breakfast room had a really aloof attitude. Especially an older man would never greet us even when we would say "good morning" in Portuguese. Also I have to say that at the time of our visit, there were many homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk around the hotel. Several times when we walked out of the hotel there would be a strong smell of urine. Out of 7 nights, we were woken up 3 nights in the middle of the night by homeless people screaming & arguing in front of the hotel. We know because each time we went on the balcony to see what all the commotion was about. This might not be the hotel's fault but you should be aware that it is a possibility during your stay.

Big thanks for the stay at your hotel! Everything was perfect starting from the check in to check out. Also thank you for moving us from 9th to 19th floor after first night - the view is much much better as well as the room is bigger.
The breakfast were the best we had in Brazil during our stay! Pool area and the view are marvelous! Staff super helpful.
The hotel itself is not the newest and you can see it from the beginning - most of the buildings on Copacabana are from the 80s and 90s and you can feel both on the outside as well as inside but it doesn't really matter so much as the location and everything else is priceless!
Also safety measures regarding Covid are kept - so you can feel safe in these terms (masks, social distance, disinfection, breakfast measurment)

The staff is very attentive and was going extra mile to accommodate our requests.
We were delighted to have a room ready for us, even though we arrived before check-in time. Our room was on the 19th floor, which is the highest one available (the pool is located on the 20th).
Our view was simply amazing, with Chris the redeemer on our right-hand side. We truly enjoyed staying in the balcony checking out people in the beach and the summer breeze in the evenings.
The pool is also amazing, which a super friendly staff, where you can easily spend the whole day just relaxing and having some cocktails (best passion fruit caipiroska I had in Brazil!)
Breakfast is a whole new level: they offer a great variety of food and juices, which will please everyone's taste. I was amazed to try the papaya cake and watermelon juice.
I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Rio.

Although we didn't actually stay here, our group of three people spent New years Eve here on the 5th floor restaurant party.
The restaurant was decorated splendidly for NYE and tables etc were well set. We shared a table with people from Australia ( of Brazilian and Chinese heritage) and all got on well. Food was served buffet style and could not be faulted for quality or variation of selection - cold cuts , salads , seafood , salmon , beef , extensive vegetarian options ans also top class desserts. The NYE package included some drinks - champagne , local beer , water , soft drinks , whisky and white or red wine served by the excellent waiting staff - there was certainly no shortage of drinks.
There was also some entertainment before midnight where a group of dancers entertained and also a DJ played from about 20.30 when we arrived to about 03.00.
View from the 5th floor out to Copacabana ( just across the road) was excellent from the large windows and we took in the fireworks and crowd sounds at midnight by opening the windows to hear the atmosphere. Could not be faulted as a NYE venue.

This hotel has a great location right on the beach at Copacabana. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The rooms and lobby are very clean. The beds are nice and hard. The rooms have small fridges and coffee makers. Our room had a cozy balcony. On the top floor is a small swimming pool with fabulous views and a bar and fitness center. The rooms are a little small compared with American hotels but equivalent to those in Europe. Several good restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel. The free breakfast is really extraordinary, offering a wide variety of fruits, juices, cheese, breads as well as hot fare. They even had champagne. We enjoyed our stay here very much.

We were in a superior suite and they did provide small bottles of water each day. But, as per a previous post there is a small pharmacy around the corner where you can buy additional water. We also had no issues with AC or noise. Highly recommend this property as well.
