Great location, water is fantastic and nice dock and marine dock. Clean washrooms and showers is very nice and they do a drive by twice a day to pick up your garbage and recycling. Some of the sites are small and a lot of the RV sites don't have hook up/power just a few. They have free wifi. No store /concession which they could really use BUT they are only 4 minutes to town. They are also contacted to a public beach but they are nicely separated but also easily walkable or swimmable to both of you want to use the other area too. All in all it is a nice spot to camp for a weekend with friends!

Clean, friendly campground. We stayed in a spot with no amenities by choice and enjoyed it. The lots were big and as private as one would expect. Was great they came to pick up garbage and recycling twice every day. Other guests were respectful of the time frame listed for noise and keeping their pets on a lease. I will go back. I would suggest that they put directional signs with lot numbers on them to save driving along to look for the site. Other then that it was great.

We have been going to lake view for 10 years minimum, it's a nice place with easy lake access. Over the past few years though we have noticed the parks standards slipping,( fences not replaced, picnic tables not repainted and general lack of upkeep). It is a dusty campsite that could use lots of fresh gravel on roads and in sights. On our most recent trip the park was over run with way too many cars and campers for the park to handle, there is no enforcement of site ppl maximums as I saw one site with a motor home and four tents. They seem to only enforce the rules when it's convenient and not the same for everyone. That said its a fun place to go and we will continue to camp there, just had to say my piece.

the reservation system they are now using is extremely poor, and why did they contract it out to an American company? I have never had an issue booking before. and the customer service was non existent.

Very clean and well run - run by the town. Free hot showers. All campsites are a short walk to the nice sandy beach (best beach in this area - others are super tiny or gravel). Great for families but couples too. Great for tents and campers/trailers, RVs (not too big). Boat launch with place to park your trailer. Allows two vehicles per campsite. Sites are a bit close together but noise is same as provincial park camping (i.e. on long weekends you can hear some music and talking, but everyone is quite polite). Wifi near the office is good but you need to be close to the office (has one electrical outlet there - bring a three-way plug in case someone else is recharging too?). Gate closed 10 pm to 7 am.

Room Tip: If you have small children request a site not near the small cliff by the beach.

Showed up Sunday early afternoon for a RV hookup reservation. Hammered drunk people everywhere, shouting, running around, trash everywhere. Nobody in the office. Found our site finally after steering around masses of people wobbling around. Oddly RV hookups were on shared pole on wrong side of our site way in the back (could only back in) and was impossible for hoses/power cord to reach - so couldn't use hookups... Blasting hot sun, competing music playing from different sites, no privacy from neighbors, again, drunk loud people everywhere. Wife tried to use restroom but multiple drunk girls lying on floor so she couldn't get in even.

We scratched our heads for a few minutes wondering what to do after driving for hours. Just left. Again, couldn't find anybody in office to tell. Forgoing our reservation and what paid, had to flee. Sucked. Lucked out and got a site at the Provincial Park up the lake, which was lovely and perfect.

Because we enjoyed this place so much 10 years ago, we returned this year with our 10 year old granddaughter but we were happy when our final night was behind us. The beach is still great for kids, washrooms and campsites very clean and tidy and the on-site staff was just great, but the campsites are very close together and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of respect to others regarding noise level. We were told that we could have one RV and one car but almost all of the sites had 2-5 large trucks parked at each site. Rules should be enforced better but the loud ones are in their thirties or forties (some older) and staff is late teens/early 20's - a bit intimidating for them. Hoping this will be rectified before this lovely spot earns a bad rep.

We just got back from Lake Cowichan, having stayed three nights at Lakeview Park campground. Upon arrival we found our site # 37 which appeared on the map to be close to the office and have a full hook up for a camper. It turned out it was jammed in between two other sites on the side of a very steep incline. As we have small children aged one and four, we found the site inappropriate and dangerous. Our kids could slide down the Rocky edge if they were out of our site for one minute. This being said we asked to move our campsite, and took a safer site without a hook up which should cost $9 per night less. At the end of our stay we found that they were unwilling to refund us the $27 plus tax!!! There was no manager to speak to you, I was given an email address and that was it. When I asked the park attendant to call the manager, his mailbox was full. After hearing nothing for 5 days, I followed up and was told that the manager was supposed to call me, and the outcome was I wouldn't be refunded. Any place where the manager is hiding, and unwilling to deal directly with the customer is a massive red flag. Why didn't they call me back directly? and more importantly, why weren't they concerned about my family's safely and the liability those sites create.

On a side note, the owner is getting greedy, putting 3 picnic benches on a site for 1, so you are literally jammed in next to your neighbour with nothing between. Sites 36, 37 & 38 are a joke!

We won't be going back!

We had a great trip here. I read some of the other reviews here and they made me apprehensive about booking here; so this review is kind of a rebuttle to some of those terrible reviews. Seems like nice family camping. Lots of families on the beach and throughout the campground. Some people having beers into the evening but I never had a problem with the noise and I go to bed at 10pm. The bathrooms and showers were very CLEAN. Free showers when a lot of RV parks now charge you for a shower. The employees seem like young people employed by the town (which is a pretty cool summer job in a small town) and they are super nice, they came by twice a day and picked up garbage. Campground was clean. I saw an employee walking the beach in the morning picking up garbage. The cement steps to the beach were swept in the morning. Security (consisting of an elderly man and another man on the weekend) came through the park in the evening in a golf cart, never had any issues with them. Seems like the park is still owned by the town of lake cowichan. Town truck is used by the employees and all the signs around the Campground are from the town. The site map provided online is terrible and does a very poor job of giving you an idea of the true layout of the park. Some of the posts for power hookups are on the wrong side of the trailer so extensions will be necessary. Doubtful this information is available when you book online so you could be in for a frustrating surprise when trying to hook up. Still the same old lakeview that I stayed at 7 years ago and it's still great.

Do t camp here if you expect to get sleep. Parties went on till 4:30am almost every night. Attendants didn't do anything about it.
Old man who works there is no day a jerk and should retire.
The young ladies and gentlemen working there were good. Just too young to do anything about the noise.
