Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I stayed here May 2023 as the last stop on our tour through Utah's Mighty 5 parks and it was a great base from which to explore Zion.

Our room (524) was large, comfortable and equipped with all amenities we needed to prep breakfast and lunch so that we could make the most of our days in the park.

The location was excellent as not only was it less than a 5 minute walk (door-to-door) to the visitor centre and canyon shuttle, but also supported by an on-site gift shop, outfitters, shopping market with all necessary groceries, pub/bar with good service and good (we'd recommend the Elk burger) + a really convenient coffee shop (Perks) serving excellent cold coffees (amongst other things) that were a welcome treat on returning to the site after a hot day of hiking.

We loved the location so much, the first time we drove any further south through Springdale than the Spotted Dog (another dinner recommendation) was on leaving.

Would recommend.

My husband and I (and friends) just returned from an awesome COVID-escape vacation to Zion National Park. Cable Mountain Lodge is located steps (literally) from the entrance to Zion. Staying here, they gave us 20% discounts on the market (which was fully stocked) and the Pub. Their rooms are decorated with mountain cabin feel and their pool, although standard rectangle, was adorned with beautiful flower baskets and a brilliant blue light during the night. Our room shared full views of the Zion mountains and the river runs right by the property (steps..literally) to float in inner tubes. The campground is just over the river so if you have friends there, walking there is a snap. The rental shop for the Narrows gear, bikes, and tubes is next to the property (again...steps). No need to get in a car when you stay here...it has it all!

I really wanted to book the Canyon Loft residence for my family’s 3 night stay, but the finances were getting very thin on our 6 week holiday, so we ended up in the Wall Bed Suite instead. So then I just wished for an upgrade!

The check in at reception was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, no genie was listening to my wishes, and we checked in to our 1st floor wall bed suite. The room was lovely. The bedroom was large (with the highest mattress ever), with plenty of storage options. My teenagers tell me that the wall and sofa beds were comfy. The kitchen had all the utilities that we needed to make our meals. We were a little disappointed with the view of the dirt mound from our room, but we rugged up and could get a partial Zion view from our deck.

The onsite laundry was a very welcome facility, and my kids loved the spa.
Whilst on the edge of Springdale, we were happy with the hotel location due to the proximity to Zion NP and Visitor Centre.

If taking a night off cooking duties, I highly recommend Zion Brew pub next door (the meatloaf is sensational).

Highly recommended.

First off, the location of Cable Mountain Lodge cannot be beat when visiting Zion Nat'l Park, and I will say that despite not having an amazing stay in terms of our room, I would still consider revisiting just for the pure convenience of staying so close to the park.

Our room was very musty smelling and you could tell that they tried to cover it with some kind of cleaner or air freshener which just made it a strong mix of musty fragrance that would hit you every time you walked in. The air conditioner was not very good, and we were there when it was 90F. We did have a ceiling fan above the bed, which you think would help, but it was so noisy that it wasn't worth keeping on because it would keep you awake. Lastly, our room specifically was located next to a water heater or some kind of maintenance room where there was constant knocking or noises coming from that room that we could hear when trying to sleep.

On the flip side, you can walk directly from your room, over a short bridge into Zion and board the shuttles and not have to worry about parking your car, so that was a big bonus. Also, I liked that the lodge was close to a coffee shop, mini market, brew pub and outfitters for Narrows rentals, all of this within the same parking lot as the hotel. Staying at Cable Mountain also offered you discounts at all of these businesses by showing your room key, I wish I had remembered to take advantage of that more.

COVID-19 details: They said no housekeeping service was offered but to just call for more towels or to have trash pick-up, we were only there 3 nights so we didn't need to utilize them for this. Staff at front desk was wearing masks and they did offer contactless check-out but no one answered when I called to do this, so I just went to the lobby and dropped off our keys.

We stayed here for 8 nights in late May. We were in a residence with a full kitchen and deck with a gorgeous view of the mountains. The location could NOT be beat! The Zion Outfitters were right on the property and you could walk into the park. They had a grocery store, restaurant, gift shop and spa right there and you could even walk or bike into Springdale. Overall awesome place to stay. BUT the one BIG negative is that there was NO maid service and they blamed it on Covid. Everything was pretty much open, mostly no masks etc so there was NO reason we couldn't have maid service (or they could have offered it to guests who were comfortable). I was paying top dollar and making my own bed, emptying my own trash etc. In addition, although the residence was well furnished the rooms were lacking basic ammenities. There were no dressers or drawers in the bedrooms - not everyone just packs a backpack! In addition, there was no full length mirror and no towel racks in the bathrooms. The residence slept 6 (we only had 4) and in the downstairs bathroom there was one hook for 4 towels. (And since there was no maid service we were hanging up the towesl) These were definitely annoyances but still don't detract from the outstanding location and the beautiful view from the deck and at the pool!

We loved our stay at Cable Mountain for many reasons. First and best part is you don't need to use the city shuttle to get to the park but you DO need to reserve the Zion park shuttle if you want to hike anywhere beyond the visitor center area hikes and go up Scenic Drive. Staying here eliminates one of the two shuttles you need because you are walking distance to the visitor center to get on the park shuttle. There is free parking for your car at this resort which is nice, and there is a restaurant and small grocery store on the property that is actually reasonably priced for a resort area. We had a small kitchen in our room and it was nice to buy things at the store and be able to cook a small meal or two in our room, and we used the restaurant for take out a few times, all in the parking lot so very convenient to not use our car once we got there for food.
We had a one bedroom suite with a kitchen and living room area, and it was perfect! Our views were amazing, and the room was super clean and updated. The only issue we had was our heater wasn't working the first day but someone came quickly to take a look. Okay, so I never get excited about a toilet of all things, but the one they had in our room was amazing!! I have never sat on one with a heated seat! It was certainly a welcome surprise!
The pool and hot tub were nice, but it was cold enough that we only used the hot tub. It was small but very relaxing after hiking all day.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for not only convenience but quality.

We came in February, so the prices were very reasonable. We booked directly on their website, but then called a week later to add one more night. The representative we spoke to, Dave, was friendly and took the time to find us the best rate for our 4 night stay.

We arrived close to 5AM to check-in and even at that hour, the receptionist welcomed us with a warm smile and patiently explained the amenities. We stayed in a Canyon View suite and the location couldn't be better; from inside the room and on the patio, we had an amazing view of the Watchman. Other perks of staying at Cable Mountain:

1. The proximity to Zion, 3 minute walk to pedestrian entrance, no need to stress about parking
2. Exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated (Canyon View suites are in the newer building)
3. Stove top, full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, cooking utensils, everything you need to prepare your own meals
4. Discounts at the walking distance restaurant, Brew Pub, the gift shop and grocery store
5. Picnic tables along the Virgin River for hotel guest and they allow campfires are certain areas. We got our to-go order from Brew Pub and lit a campfire to keep us warm as we enjoyed a night picnic, afterwards we roasted s'mores

This is the best hotel I've ever booked and we've stayed in places with higher rates or considered "luxury" hotels, but nothing compares to Cable Mountain Lodge. The location, the service, and excellent hotel maintenance, is what makes this place so special.

You cannot beat the location of this hotel. Park your car and leave it there till it’s time to go home. Hotel is literally across the walkway/bridge entrance to Zion park. Buy your park pass the day you arrive, it’s good for 7 days and you will avoid a long line in AM, as they will have a separate line for pass holders.
Rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds, large kitchenette and living room and bathroom. There is a balcony with 2 chairs, table and a breathtaking view no matter which way you face. View it especially good with second floor rooms. Great market nearby, coffee shop and Spa. Zion outfitters has all you need for The Narrows gear, e-bikes etc Very friendly staff there.
My only complaint is lack of housekeeping and size of hot tub and it’s hours. Utah has dropped all mask policies and no one is wearing masks anywhere or requiring masks. So I don’t understand why hotel cannot offer clean towels or come clear trash in the room, especially when I’m there for 5 days end I’m not in the room most of the day. I had to call front desk to get these things done.
Most nights pool area closed/locked by 9 pm. Hot tub very small and usually taken over by a few people with a cooler of their own alcohol & friends or on another night it was full of kids. After long days of hiking, this was frustrating to say the least. Someone from hotel should regulate this or get a bigger hot tub.
Overall though Cable Mountain lodge is a great choice if you are spending a lot of time in Zion and don’t want crowded shuttles or excess travel time to get into the park.

Stay here and walk across the parking lot into the National Park. It does not get better than that.
This is our second trip staying at Cable Mountain Lodge in a Canyon Loft Residence with 4 people. The private deck space and views alone are incredible and worth the money.
Save $ by cooking in your fully equipped kitchen.
The main floor king bedroom is small with only room for the bed and two nightstands. The closet floor is take up by a washer/dryer combo (which is amazing, just make sure you turn the dial all the way to "dry" and not "refresh" or your clothes wont get dry).
The upper king bedroom is larger and could use a dresser. The bathrooms are gorgeous and well appointed with large showers and a soaker tub in the upper bathroom as well as heated bidet toilet seats.
Pool is nice with a great backdrop of the Watchman, but is not heated. Which is fine when temps are 90-110.

Kara B wrote a review Jul 2021
While the property is beautiful and the location is incredible, the service was terrible. We had booked a two night stay in a luxury suite and the air conditioning stopped working during our first few hours in the room. We were moved to a different room, which was a very nice room. Only the first night could be guaranteed at the time we were moved, but we were told we'd be contacted if we had to switch rooms again as the front desk wasn't sure what the morning crew would decide to do with our room situation. Not only were we not contacted, we were threatened with a late check-out fee the following morning if we didn't have all of our stuff out of the room immediately so it could be cleaned (not because it was booked- there were rooms of that tier still available for the night on their website, they just didn't want us in that room anymore). However, they didn't have another room ready for us to move to and wouldn't until close to 3pm. We had to load all of our stuff back into our car only to unload (for a 3rd time at the same property in 24 hours) again when the room was ready.

While all of this is an inconvenience as is, we are traveling with our one year old. Prior to checking in, the plan was morning hike, afternoon nap, pool, and lunch, evening hike, bed, repeat. We chose this property because of its location and its pool. Our one year old requires a nap, which she had to miss. We couldn't use the pool because all of our stuff had to be in the car. We were vastly overcharged, underwhelmed, and left with a sour taste in our mouths. I wouldn't recommend Cable Mountain Lodge to anyone after our experience. On top of all this, the manager was unreachable and off property from our first issue (Saturday evening) until our actual check-out on Monday morning.

If you're looking to be close to the park, I suggest camping or staying in a room half a mile up the road and still walkable to the park entrance.

I had planned on speaking with the manager, David H, before leaving a review, but we haven't heard from him in the 43 hours we've been on property, despite sending an email ourselves and having the front desk try calling him numerous times. We’ve now been gone a day, he’s worked a shift on the property (so we’re told), and still no communication.

That might depend on how much time you want to spend in your room. I don't think there's a bad view in the complex And all you have to do is step outside to see the beautiful Mountain Views all surrounding the lodge,

Get a room on the second floor to face the canyon. Make sure you are not in the lowest floor. It sucks. The rooms are bigger but they are like a dungeon and face the road. Also, there are no elevators. So pack a bag for just the days you are there.
