We stayed at the Waikiki Marina condo #3804 for almost two weeks. It was functional - and for that good price, we would consider staying here again.

The good:
- Price
- Location of building in walking distance to Ala Moana Mall, several beaches and lagoon, and buses and car rental agency. We also walked to Waikiki.
- Expansive window overlooking the ocean and Marina and with a view of the Friday night fireworks
- Garage parking included
- Laundry room in building
- Bath, face, hand, and beach towels supplied
- Fully furnished kitchen

The not so good:
- Can hear the elevators running from inside the condo (sounds like an airplane)
- Glass elevators will stop randomly without the doors opening when the elevators shake too much
- Not enough closet or drawer space for clothes
- Dusty corners and nights stands (including dusty collection of phone books)
- Dated decor

For a small room, we didn't feel cramped. The window and mirrors helped. However we don't recommend anymore than two people for this room.

My husband and I stayed at the Marina Tower Waikiki for four nights. It was a last-minute non-refundable arrangement that had been made without consulting me. Needless to say, after reading the recent TripAdvisor reviews and ratings, I was dreading my stay there. Realizing that a better hotel would cost at least $100/night more (not to mention the non-refundable situation), we decided to stick it out. What a relief to find that our room was better than expected, considering the last minute booking and the “budget” price.

When we arrived in our room, I realized that we had stayed in the same hotel about 9 or 10 years on a different floor and I recall that it was a bad experience. This hotel is a condominium hotel, which means that the rooms belong to individual owners or a time share.

The hotel is located behind the Equus Hotel which manages the Marina Tower bookings. When arriving at the Marina Tower via a circular driveway, new guests must walk to the street-side lobby of the Equus Hotel to register. There is no notice anywhere on the Marina Tower building that directed us to do this (except a phone # posted to call for information) and the only way we found out was from another guest. Entrance into the Marina Tower lobby and hotel is with a security key only.

Pros:
Amazing views (26th floor)
Lots of natural light in the room
Huge windows that opened almost all the way (no safety feature, so be careful with children)
Fairly clean overall (no bugs)
Clean bed linens
Kitchenette with full-size fridge, full range with oven, microwave
Good shower pressure, plenty of hot water
TV with many channels
Free wifi (which didn't work)
Friendly registration at Equus Hotel
0.3 mile walk from the Hilton Hawaiian Village (and conference)
0.5 mile walk to the nearest beach
0.3 mile walk to the Ala Moana Center
0.3 mile walk to grocery store for fruits and vegetables and convenience foods
½ block to bus stop

Cons:
Kingsize bed needed to be replaced. I could feel the springs poking through the mattress.
Wicker chairs were old and ready to be replaced.
Tiny shower (approx. 3' x 4')
Bathroom had mildewy smell.
Stingy on towels: sometimes there would be wash cloths, at other times not; same with bath mat.
Cleaning was spotty, mostly consisting of replacing used towels and emptying trash.
I made my own bed three days in a row since the cleaning person did not show up until the afternoon. Bed linens were changed on the fourth day.
Elevators were noisy and sounded like a jet taking off. This was especially disturbing at night.
Elevators were a bit shaky and would inexplicably stop and linger at the 21st floor without the doors opening.
Marina Tower lobby's artificial flower fragrance (infuser) was overpowering and head ache inducing.
If other guests on the same floor were cooking, the aromas would drift into the hallway and into our room and linger.
Even at the 26th floor there was a lot of street noise (traffic, sirens).

I have been in many hotels, budget or luxury, in Waikiki over many years. This hotel was not out of the ordinary for a budget accommodation. You get what you pay for.

I booked through Expedia and stayed in 1404 (currently still here). I did read the reviews and they were helpful in making sure I understood all issues. I was a bit freaked out as I had no idea what I was walking into.
First I have to say, these are all the items you need to know upfront:
If you want to check in late: you need to call the manager at 808-952-5200. They will direct you to your lockbox located on the right of the building where you will get your FOB and keycard. You will need to ask what the wifi password is, as I didn't have that in my room.
IF you do check in late, you MUST register with the lady the following day between her hours to get your card re-activated, give her your credit card and ID.
Checkin is in the outside lobby between 3-5pm. She is wearing a blue shirt. I found her very nice and accommodating. Sure it's in the garage, but it's nicely done up and I didn't feel at all any security issues in the evening.
The room. I did book a deluxe ocean view room and I do have a nice view of that., but it's not the view I would get if I was on the 25th floor and above. I AM rather thankful it isn't on the 25 floor or above as the elevators would be a bit long.
I had NO issues with elevators at any point. Both were running. There has been no longer than a 3-4 minute wait. I have waited longer at the Hilton.
There is a $10 resort fee. Really not sure why...but it is what it is.
My room was very clean, hardwood floors and fairly new kitchen/bathroom. The bed was actually quiet comfortable!
Look it's not the Hilton or Sheraton...but I certainly wouldn't put it as a 2 star. Considering I paid $120 canadian with a full kitchen in Waikiki, I got a great deal. The beach is a 10 minute walk to the Fort Derussy Park beach (which happens to be my all time favourite part of the entire beach).
I feel that some of the reviews may have merit, but I also feel many people didn't read the instructions either and each booking company has different rooms. If you do decide to book, call the lady at the number, tell her what booking agent you are using as she can tell you if your room is a sheit one or a good one. Remember booking via AirBNB or VRBO you could very well end up with a "locals" room and you have no idea what state it might be in.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY, it is a nightmare, elevators have been shutdown for our entire stay have to climb 38 floors in stairwell that is littered with garbage and urine, with no airflow. According to live in residents there is no budget or timeline to fix the elevators. Only plus side is the view if you have ocean view room, but that alone is not worth it, save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.

We had to change our booking last minute and ended up in this hell hole. When I booked online it was for room 2804. When we arrived we ended up in room 3504. I’ve attached photos. This place is a dump. We had stained towels, blood stains on the mattress, broken cupboards and filthy cutlery. For the first week the elevator worked then they turned it off due to high winds. Ironically the hotel in front of ours still has all of theirs running. Being on the 35th floor with bad knees and ankles and a partner who bodyboards climbing 35 floors was horrifying. It completely destroyed our holiday as our first trip to Hawaii and our first holiday as a couple. If you book this place your nuts!!! Whilst here we have tried many times to seek a refund through Airbnb but they are useless.

Why has this place not been shut down yet ?

The rooms are filthy, not only mine but also from the other guests I met on the stairways because none of the elevators where working.
The toilet bowl and shower, the floors and the bedding where very dirty and stained.
The sheet on top of the mattress had a blood and urine stain in the size of a dinner plate, than covered with another sheet.
The worst accommodation ever. I have traveled the world in economy and luxury places .Even third world countries showed more respect and pride to a traveler.

The elevator worked one time but kept on dropping between floors, it is outride dangerous.
I tried to get part of my money back but the management refused.

The location is the only good thing about this place.

I stayed at this place about 7 years ago. The elevator was out of action then! Seems like nothing's changed. The guy who owned the place said he only JUST NOW found out about it. It was an air bnb deal. I complained about the elevators because I had to walk up 343 steps so in return he said I didn't take the trash out.

This place called a hotel should be ashamed of themselves. This isn’t a tourist hotel it’s more like a worst nightmare come true. I will let the photos speak for themselves and anyone else who I has stayed here and found the same disgraceful conditions and serious safety violations as we did should report it to The Hawaii BBB immediately before a tragedy happens here.
Stay far away from this place because as bas as the physical condition is their staff are really scary as well. Customer Service was probably the class they skipped out on!

We arrived at the Polo Inn and checked in- and found out that we were staying in the "Aqua Marina Resort" which was located just behind the polo inn. It cost us $12.50 a day to park in the parking garage, which was built around the Aqua Marina resort and then we only had a handful of open spots that were designated for the Hawaii Polo Inn.

We were quite unimpressed with the accomidations. The biggest issues we had were with the design of the bathroom- it was sort of triangular in shape, and had a low counter that ran diagonally across the top of the toliet, which made using the toliet an interesting experience- since you could not sit up straight, but must lean forward.

Overall it was old and run down and it appeared as though our door, and our neighbor's door had been broken into more than once judging by the amount of damage to the door and the door frame. Unfortunately this is the portion of the trip in which I had pink-eye and felt not well enough to do a lot of activities, so we spent much more time in this hotel than anyone could ever want to.

On the positive side It was clean, and the cleaning staff was very helpful and considerate. We did have to make a point of calling the correct front desk though since we were not paying the Aqua Marina but the Polo Inn.

We wouldn't ever book this place on purpose- it was arranged for as a "free gift" for attending some time share presentation we attended. That being said, we know that beggers can't be choosers... and we didn't have a choice! But we would never stay here again as long as we are in control of choosing the location.

This place was ridiculous! NO FRONT DESK. NOTHING. you have to call to let the person know your here. THEN they charge you at $10 RESORT FEE. Yet expedia failed to mention that. One elevator was working. So the wait was about 35-45 minutes long. You could feel the springs in the bed. Room smelled funny. And if you wanted more linen or towels you needed to call a separate number. The bathroom on the first floor was a huge stinker. You check out by leaving your room key and your key fob in the room. Security would ask why I parked in the handicap stall when I clearly have a decal and she saw my mom with me.

BOTTOM LINE: DONT STAY HERE!

In November when we stayed it was included in the $150 / night. We were advised this is a short stay tax applying to stays of less than 30 days. We asked around when we were there it was standard / legitimate charge.

No fees from my side all was incorporated in the booking and this hotel was one of the very few with no extra per night resort fees. Sorry I just saw this question now :/

If you are already there then you already know the quality of the place. To get your towels changed you have to text the number they gave you but remember ever service is $50. I suggest you use the laundry at level 3 to wash and reuse.

The responses to your question can be confusing so let me sort things out for you. This is a condo hotel. The units belong to individual owners. Those on the lower levels look out at the back of adjoining buildings. They should be avoided at all costs. Not only do they have ghastly views, but the owners haven't updated them in years. On the other hand the top floor units look out over those buildings and have magical views night or day. Their owners take great care of them. We've stayed in some that were nearly palatial. THAT is what you want. Book top grade, request one of the Kapolei view units, and promise the desk a good review on TripAdvisor. You should love it!
