Nestled near the French Quarter, The Westin New Orleans garners praise for its enviable location and the stunning river views it offers. While guests have called out the comfortable and well-furnished rooms, some have noted occasional issues with cleanliness and upkeep. The amenities, especially the plush beds and the breakfast spread, often earn rave reviews, despite a few mentions of missing services.
The staff's friendliness and efficiency are regularly celebrated, although experiences with service can vary. While opinions on the hotel's value differ, the lively atmosphere, complete with live music and a chic bar, is a consistent highlight for many travelers.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary. Over all we had a very pleasant stay. After comparing many of the hotels in downtown New Orleans we settled on this one because of the location and the price. The more recent reviews on Trip Advisor were not the best but I have family who stayed here several years ago and highly recommended it.
Some of the pros of this hotel was the very friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff, having a walk in shower with dual shower heads, large bathroom counter, magnified vanity mirror, large towels, and the location.
Some cons we experienced were no outlets by the bed, no robes (on the website it says robes would be in the rooms), no microwave in the room, no vent in the bathroom, scratchy towels, dirty shower upon arrival (the floor of the shower had dirt on it and there was a long black hair on the wall of the shower).
The best part of this hotel was the location. We did not use our car a single time during our stay as we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The streetcar is also close by so we did get a pass one day ($3 for unlimited rides for 24hrs) and used that a little bit. The staff was all very helpful. There were a few special requests we made (extra shampoo, extra towels, a tidying up while we were out one day, etc.) and all requests were met very promptly.
Over all my husband and I enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if there was a special rate available like we got this time. I would not pay full price for a room though.

We stay probably 50 nights per year, at least in hotels and this was by far the best hotel we’ve stayed in. Clean room, friendly staff, the perfect location! The hotel is off the direct path of foot traffic, but within walking distance of the French Quarter and lots of places to eat and shop. But it’s quiet and close to the river and a great park and walking path. We traveled with our very old, sweet doggo and the location was ideal for her too! The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and were attentive to our needs. We had the BEST impromptu trip!

This hotel is close enough to the French Quarter but a little removed from it for a great night sleep. I asked for city view to avoid the train whistle on the riverside rooms. Once you figure out that there are two different elevators in the garage and that only one goes to the hotel it gets easier to navigate from the garage. signage could be better but that is my only concern. Everything else is great. Staff are mostly friendly. The circular breakfast bar has very nice staff. Beds are comfortable. Love the rain shower in bathroom. I ordered food from “room service” Luke’s restaurant and it took 2 hours to get matzoh ball soup and bread pudding. Soup was cold. Next I ordered with Uber Eats and it took almost an hour which I thought was reasonable. Food was from a local Thai restaurant and it was delivered hot to the lobby level. I’ll stick with Uber Eats for food to my room. Overall, this is a great location for shopping and the French Quarter.and Very comfortable rooms.

Booked a suite w a bathtub @ $500++ per night September 14 & 15. The hotel was full of people and their barefoot children refusing to wear masks with adults drinking in the bar which is now in the lobby. Not safe or legal at this time but the staff didn’t seem to be able to control or care about the situation. The staff was not even familiar w the rooms because they stuck us w a wheelchair accessible room , which has no bathtub. When i complained they replied “ but you have a suite “. I said yes, for someone w a wheelchair, i just wanted a bathtub. BTW , if you were in a wheelchair and needed this room, you would be furious. The lights for the bathroom are behind the 4 foot door. I am bipedal and had a hell of a time finding the light switches, in the dark !!
On the plus side, it’s a beautiful newly renovated hotel ( except for certain bathroom lighting accesses). This location has wonderful river views, access to many fine shops and restaurants when they reopen in the future.
Unfortunately the management during our visit must have just been flown in bc they could have cared less about my minor complaints, while swiping my cc.

So you mean to tell me bottled water is $3 after I already paid for a $200 room? And on top- it tastes just like the faucet water. Kitchen and bar closes at 10 so don’t expect room service after a late night event. Views are very pretty but you can easily find the same views at a more affordable hotel.

This Westin does not live up to what we've typically experienced with the brand. First of all, the lobby is on the 11th floor and the signage from the self parking garage directing you to the lobby is poor at best so we had to haul our luggage all over trying to gain access to the lobby and check in. I'm sure it didn't help that neither elevator from the garage was working properly when we checked in but why the hotel allowed both elevators to go into the weekend broken is just plain dumb. The really disappointing thing about this property is the poor service. We ordered room service on Saturday night and it took over 90 minutes before arriving. We even called the front desk to inquire about the status of our order and they promised to check and respond. Thirty minutes later I actually went down to the lobby and disrupted the front desk clerks (two of them) phone time when I asked for a manager. The manager apologized numerous times and got our order up to us but the food was cold. Checking out was no better experience, the desk clear was just cold. It is clear to me the staff of this hotel do not care about the guest experience. I suggest you try a different property if you visit New Orleans.

I'm so grateful that this beautiful and convenient property is back on line; but it has a way to go. Those reserving rooms should be told that there is NO Valet service and NO Bellman service. And, that you cannot leave your car unattended to check in and haul your luggage... My husband has Parkinson's and thankfully the front desk was able to get security to assist us and they were wonderful!
ELEVATORS were very problematic!! Some would not go up and some you room key card would only work sporadically.
Housekeeping was less than good. We had to ask for change of linens, to have the coffee and cups refilled and the trash was never removed, even after requested.
This property and its location was just unbeatable and so I hope that the "state of tourism" continues to improve so the this property can get back up to speed.

Hotel room was very clean, although we were never provided hand towels even though we asked for them. My main complaint is that the heavy doors slammed shut all hours throughout the night and woke me up several times. The hotel ought to invest in hinges that would cause the doors to close softly. Right now, the doors are very heavy and the walls shake and reverberate and are horridly loud when they are slammed shut. It is very bad and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who is a light sleeper. We also found it odd that although this is a 4.5 star hotel and we had 3 people in our hotel room, we were only provided with 2 bath towels and 3 wash rags and that was it. On the second day, we didn't even have a bath mat to use. Do the maids not know to leave towels for guests?

The Westin is a nice hotel on the waterfront in New Orleans. It was recently renovated and you can tell. The room was lovely, clean, quiet and modern looking. The lobby area is beautiful with great views of the water. The hotel is close enough that you can easily walk to all the action in the French Quarter but you aren't so close that it's loud or dirty. Very convenient location that was close to bus and trolley stops, shopping, restaurants, attractions, etc. I traveled solo and felt very safe at this hotel as well. Only drawbacks are there is no pool and limited eating options. There was no restaurant and basically only snacks or light food offered at the lobby bar. You could order room service but it comes from an outside restaurant and the hours are limited. This wasn't a big issue for me though because the hotel is attached to a mall so there are eating options there and close by. This was a birthday trip and the hotel extended me great hospitality and it was a positive experience. I would recommend this hotel.

Over the 4th of July weekend, I stayed at the Westin New Orleans with my son after a road trip from Arizona. The front desk staff was courteous and very helpful. Ex: they were more than happy to provide umbrellas for the rainy days.
While housekeeping services weren't available, they made it clear I could call the front desk at any time to request extra towels, etc. A bonus - the gym was open! While the restaurant was not open, the scenic bar was available for seating and served a smaller menu.
The hotel is updated and beautiful. It sits atop a luxury mall, which I frequented often during my trip. The gym was exceptionally clean as were all other parts of the hotel. My room was perfect - they took all of my Marriott profile requests into account as well as my platinum status when assigning it.
This hotel is walkable distance to the French Quarter. In fact, we walked to the French Quarter everyday for shopping and meals.
Overall, this stay exceeded my pandemic expectations. I can't wait to go back.

Good Morning,
Thank you for your message. Our Westin does not offer a club lounge. We do offer breakfast in our main restaurant daily.
I felt fine making that walk with my mother. I only would not walk down Canal street - we had some really unpleasant experiences along that stretch and ended up avoiding it as much as we could.
Our room did not have a microwave. I believe there was one in the lobby gift shop.
Yes. There is public parking near the hotel that can accommodate tall vehicles.
I am not sure, we did not have a balcony, just an amazing view.
