Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter, the Omni Royal Orleans garners praise for its prime location, allowing guests to easily immerize themselves in the vibrant culture of New Orleans. While the hotel's amenities, including a heated rooftop pool and on-site dining, are widely appreciated, some guests suggest they could benefit from modernization. Opinions on value are mixed, as numerous travelers express concerns over high costs and the desire for property renovations. The service receives acclaim for being attentive, yet a few guests have encountered less satisfactory experiences. The hotel's atmosphere and rooms receive a range of feedback, with commendations for their classic appeal and cleanliness, but critiques point to a need for updates and soundproofing to enhance comfort.

We had a 5 night stay for my daughter’s wedding. The Pharmacy Museum is right across the street. While the accommodations are lovely, what impressed us most was the staff. Every single encounter was absolutely wonderful! From the valet to bellman to front desk to maids to doorman. Each greeted us warmly and we’re ready to help us in any way. Extra thanks to Daguan and Alexis at the front desk who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. (Notice the beautiful lobby and front door flower arrangements changed almost daily! Attention to detail is awesome!

The Royal Omni Orleans was recommended to us for a pre-cruise stay in New Orleans. We had 3 nights pre-cruise, just a few weeks prior to Mardi Gras. We could not have been happier with this hotel.

Booking online was smooth and effortless. I initially booked about 10 months prior to our trip. About 3 months later, I noticed that the price was less. I called, and they immediately adjusted to the new, lower price.

Check-in was super easy. The doorman called the bell desk, and helped to unload our many suitcases from the airport transport service. Check in desk had all our details and checked us in quickly.

Our room was beautiful. We had a deluxe queen room with a balcony. Only downside for us was that we could not smoke on the balcony, but that is their policy, so we adhered to that. Note, if you are a smoker, it is a long walk to go out front to smoke, and the steps get steep. Lol

It was storming a few times during our stay. It was really nice that they provide towels to dry off when you come in the doors. And they will loan out umbrellas for your use while out and about.

The location is AMAZING! Walking distance to almost anything. So many restaurants, Jackson Square, Bourbon street, Cafe Du Monde, etc.

The on sight restaurant, The Rib Room, was very good. Had 1 dinner and 1 breakfast there.

Highly recommend!

I realize this review is a little late but as we were making plans for our next trip to New Orleans I read some bad reviews and felt like we had to add our good one. I am sorry there were some who had a bad experience but ours was everything we could ask for. Last June was our 50th anniversary and we wanted to celebrate in the town where we honeymooned. When we made hotel and dining reservations in March, we never dreamed Covid would last more than a few weeks. The 1st thing that happened was our hotel canceled on us. We decided to try the Omni and not only were they going to be open but when we got there, they had upgraded our room and left chilled champagne in honor of our 50th. The head of security personally took us to our room and made sure we knew demonstrations were scheduled for the French Quarters that night. We stayed in the hotel for dinner and the restaurant was amazing both the food and staff. The next day being our actual 50th we had breakfasts reservations at Court of the Two SIsters and dinner reservations at Antoines just as we had on our honeymoon. We woke up to texts from both places canceling our reservations stating they had decided not to open as they had told us they would the day before. Of course, we were disappointed but the Omni staff did everything they could to suggest alternatives for us. We chose to dine again at the Omni restaurant and they made it special for us including a visit from the chef and well wishes from everyone. Many of our favorite N.O. places were closed because of Covid and the demonstrations but we were always warmly welcomed each time we returned to the hotel. Our reservations were to stay until Monday then head to Destin but on Sunday the head of security once again checked on us advising us Tropical Storm Cristóbal was headed to New Orleans and suggested that if we could get in our Destin room a day early, we should consider leaving Sunday. We confirmed early arrival and did enjoy watching the French Quarters prepare for the storm. The Omni staff helped us with everything, making sure we weren't charged for the original planned extra night. The entire staff from the girl that checked us in through the security guard, restaurant staff, and parking staff could not have been more helpful, pleasant, or professional. I'm sure things happen that cause problems for other guests on occasions, but we couldn't be more pleased with our stay and plan on booking them again to re-celebrate our 50th on our 51st as soon as we're sure all the spots we want to go to will be opened again. My husband had a conference and the company booked us at the Omni Royal. We were excited, we had stayed at an Airbnb one block down and we walked by the Omni every day. We had wanted to stay at the Omni next visit. We had a great check in, got in our room early. The hotel and room was beautiful. The roof top pool and lounge area is very nice with great views from the observation deck. We left our room Monday at 830am and arrived back at 430pm and the room was untouched. Housekeeping had not arrived yet. We called the front desk and someone came up within 45 minutes. After a long day, it would have been nice to come back to a made up room to nap before the evening festivities. Same thing happened the second day. During our 4 day stay, housekeeping continued to come mid to late afternoon. We ran out of toilet paper, no extra was left in the room and housekeeping left less than a half roll on the holder. Seemed obvious another roll might be needed. On our last day, we loaded up the car with luggage, went to breakfast and came back to the room to get our beverages from the mini refrigerator. Housekeeping was in the room cleaning, the 6 pack of water was gone. The rest of the beverages were there and we packed them up. The woman stated some of the mini bar snacks were missing and we would be charged for them. We had purchased our own beverages and snacks and did not partake in the ones left in the room. All the other staff was very accommodating and helpful. We loved our stay, location was great. For the price of the room, one would expect prompt morning housekeeping services, 5pm is not an ideal time to clean a room. Also, removing items from a room prior to the guest formally checking out is not something we've encountered before. We had 2 hours until check out time when we returned for the beverages. Beyond those few issues, we enjoyed our stay.

Terrible experience with the front desk staff during our recent four night stay. We had an early flight so arrived at the hotel at 9 am. We weren't expecting a room to be available but wanted to drop off our luggage and get something to eat and walk the French Quarter. The front desk clerk informed us that he would put a priority with housekeeping and took our phone number to text us when the room was ready. By 2 pm, we hadn't heard from them so went to the hotel. There were at least 6 keys on the board but none with our name. I waited in line behind a gentleman that was given his room key but when I approached the clerk, he said our room was still not ready. How is it possible that a room has not become available in 5 hours and how do you account for all the other rooms that were assigned? When I asked the clerk, he stated they may not have all been the same type of room and we needed to wait. Our reservation was for a premier room, not a suite where we'd understand there are limited numbers. After some time waiting in the lobby, we received our text and proceeded to our room. The first thing we noticed is the room was situated near the elevators, across from the ice machine and next to the maintenance closets. This despite requesting - specifically - that we get a room away from all the above. It's also written in my Omni profile in room preferences. You'd think after waiting nearly 6 hours they could've at least found a room that would match our preferences. When we started unpacking, we noticed the room had no drawers in which to unpack our clothes, only a hanging closet. There was a large armoire in the room but it was completely used by the mini fridge and snacks. I called the front desk and was told none of the rooms in the hotel contained drawers. That this was a historic building so they couldn't make any changes to the structure. How is adding a cabinet with drawers changing the building structure? Later that evening, I approached a different clerk at the front desk who stated some rooms had cabinets and they would move us the next day. I asked they move us to internal facing room and away from the elevators. Next morning, we went to the front desk and were told there was nothing in our records indicating they would change our rooms. She would need to speak with the manager later. When we arrived later in the day, the key to our new room was on the board so we went to see it it. Incredibly, it was on the same line, only on a lower floor, which meant more street noise. I asked to speak to the manager and he graciously apologized and upgraded us to a larger room - this time away from the elevators. This whole experience with getting the right room overshadowed the great service we received from other hotel staff.
Otherwise, we found the rooms small, and very noisy where you can hear the slightest conversations in the hallways.

We have stayed here happily in the past but had a pretty disappointing stay this time. The room was beautiful but the stay started on a sour note when the Bellman broken expensive bottle of wine for me to the room and destroyed the insulated cooler that it had been securely placed in. Nothing was done to compensate for this which was disappointing. In addition we only saw the doorman one time during a three night stay and the maid service never refilled the coffee for the room or the shampoo. It was very difficult to get coffee sent to our room and there was rarely coffee available to purchase in the hotel. Not huge problems but when you pay a premium price for a certain hotel you expect at least adequate service. It was very disappointing and not at all up to the standards that we have come to expect with this hotel. In addition if you’re looking for a quiet night do not stay here. The location is great for getting around the French quarter but it is definitely loud. The outside noises are loud enough, but you can also hear every sound from the hallway in your room and the horrible fight in our hallway was enough to make us lose sleep on our last night. So sadly, not a very good experience…

Terrible Front Desk Service and Management. A group of friends and I were driving into New Orleans and I quickly made a reservation 30 minutes away from our destination. Once we arrive and make our way to check in we discover the dates I selected vs the dates that were booked were off by 1 day. It had now been 1 hour since our reservation had been placed. They had no availability at this or another nearby location for the evening. When i asked if anything can be done they told me, “Sorry, no.” I asked if a credit could be issued, if i could at least get the bottle of Champaign I paid extra on for the room, or if i could get any refund but it “wasn’t their policy” (though when I spoke to a customer service agent they said that the management team did have that ability. The front desk was also very rude to they customer service agent when placed on the phone). I canceled the reservation because I am not able to use it. Since it is Mardi Gras weekend I’m sure they will have another full night. Still haven’t see any refund. My friends and I still enjoyed ourselves despite the terrible service for a booking made within the hour.

This hotel was quite picturesque from the outside in keeping with all of the french quarter. Lovely Moorish statues and gilt decor upon arriving at the hotel. Experience was downhill from there. Taxi drops off my luggage curbside and the doorman nor porter move to assist me. I have no issue with moving my own luggage however the street level entrance connects to the lobby thru two staircases... there is no elevator to the lobby level thus you have to drag your luggage up these stairs. Very annoying. Room provided the size of a closet, a "Petite Room" sold to me as a "deluxe" (pictures on there website substantiated this) Upon contacting the front desk to obtain another room and pay additional for this, I was told to "check back later". As I was staying 5 days I did this for 3 days, after which I was told they were sold out and had no rooms available. Called three times upon check in for extra luggage racks with no response. Finally personally went to front desk to ask for them, and then told they would be sent up immediately. Never did until my second visit to the front desk. I asked for extra hangers and received wire hangers. Comical. I wont be back.

I was there recently and was surprised at the horrible accessibility issues. There was no elevator to get from the street level to the main level where check in is. After a long day of travel I then had to carry my multiple suitcases up the stairs to check in. Upon getting to my floor I found my room and opened the door which was right on top of the closet. There is literally a cut out in the closet frame to allow the door to open. There is no way you can really get yourself and luggage in the door together. There is also no way anyone with a wheelchair could access this room. The room was nice and so minor issue with the door and luggage but then went to the bathroom. It had a micro sink and when you sit on the toilet you literally have the toilet paper roll in your arm pit. They also have clearly not cleaned the fan in the bathroom in years because I had dust bunnies falling on me while showering. There should have been some thought in the layout of the bathroom and general maintenance to clean these things.

So not being there to hang in my room but rather attend meetings and hit the streets with friends I was not going to make a stink, however the cleaning and upkeep of the hotel made for an uncomfortable visit. The first morning I swore I saw something out of the corner of my eye as I was coming off the elevator but chalked it up to a shadow. Well then got to breakfast and one of my friends mentioned they had a mouse run out from under their bed the night before. There was then another friend who said she just saw some maintenance personnel laying sticky traps around where we were gathering for the next event. Not super thrilled with that idea but when I was getting my lunch I saw one scurry from under the food table as my friend screamed as she saw it running. The hotel is old and historical but there has got to be some upkeep to make this hotel someplace I will visit again.

Stayed here two nights for a business meeting in early January. This was my second stay at this hotel with my last time here back in 2015. The hotel doesn't appear to have changed much at all since that time. Check in was quick and easy and the room I stayed in room was nice and clean. Pretty standard hotel room with about everything you would expect and need. In room thermostat was easy to adjust and actually worked. Can't believe how many times I've stayed at other hotels and adjusting room temperature takes an act of God. No complaints here.

The meeting room area was nice. Our group ate lunch at the hotel both days and the weather was nice enough for us to eat outside in the large patio area, which is really nice. Food was also excellent. Internet service was free and had a good signal.

The hotel is located just block off Bourbon Street and there are numerous restaurants and bars close by so you can pretty much walk to whatever you want. Ubers and taxis are readily available if needed.

Overall it was a nice stay. Rooms could probably use a refresh, but for the nightly rate it was satisfied.
