This was certainly not our favourite hotel/motel on our trip, but it was by no means the worst. We arrived late at night and the receptionist unlocked (this was the first hint it wasn't situated in the most welcoming of areas) door. Check in was simple and they required a credit/debit card for incidentals. The lift was then out of order, however the receptionist did help us carry our bags up the two flights of stairs.
Upon entering the room, the smell of marijuana was palpable. This smell never left the room but you just adapted to it. The room, other than the smell, was actually fairly clean. It was also very spacious and the bed was large. There were great amenities like a microwave, large fridge and a TV with lots of channels. There was no safe however. The heating was excellent and the shower was okay.
Unfortunately housekeeping was not great, 2 of the 5 nights we stayed, housekeeping didn't attend our room despite our door having the 'maid requested' sign visible for the majority of the day. When they did clean the room however, it was completed to a very high standard.
The location of the motel is also good, there are buses all around and it is walkable to Fisherman's Wharf and even downtown if you're active! Despite the motel having lots of 'extra' safety features and the previous comment, the area during the day felt pretty safe.
If I returned to San Francisco on a budget then I would consider staying here again, however if I returned on a one-off then I would probably look for somewhere that was a bit more pricey.

I was nervous booking this motel, and was pleasantly surprised great staff and very accommodating, location feels safe, very clean, good size rooms. If your looking for five star luxury then this is not the place for you as it has some wear but if your looking for a good, clean place to lay your head and you don’t mind a little wear then come here. The parking garage is below and limited parking above. Parking is free for the night we stayed, we were able to leave our car for 10 days while we sailed for minimal charge and taxi back and forth to shop. We all would definitely stay again.

I read a lot of reviews before booking here. Some were terrible, some were good. I land about in the middle. For what my brother and I needed - a place close enough to some of the tourist things and some bars to crash at, it served it's purpose well.

The hotel isn't the nicest, fanciest place by any means. The wallpaper is peeling a little bit, the carpet is older and carries some faint odors, but it honestly wasn't too bad unless you're a very picky person who needs absolute spotlessness to enjoy themselves. Beds were clean, towels were clean, the wifi worked, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you have a car, they have parking, which I'm told is hard to find in San Fran.

I would stay here again.

I’m not even sure where to start here. First, knowing this is a budget motel , I went in with low expectations. They of course were shattered and not in a good way. I told the clerk I’ve been in hundreds of motels/hotels and this was the worst by far. It’s insect infested, filthy, outdated and poorly maintained. We same numerous bugs and I killed a roach in the bathroom. I asked for extra towels and opened one in the shower to see a big giant hair ball fall out. On a positive note the neighborhood is fine. The issue is, the blight in the neighborhood is this place. Some of the shadiest people are staying here I mean I’m literally speechless. This place should be condemned and bulldozed. On top of that, they broke into our car shattering the window. Nothing of value except my 8 year old daughters little purse. If you were in my situation and this is one of the few places with parking, just stay at the airport. I wouldn’t stay here for

Easily the most disgusting stay in a motel, ever. Rooms smelled of smoke and urine. Mucus dried on the walls.

I had booked for 2 nights, got in very late first night, and was not allowed a refund for 2nd night, in spite of wanting to flee. Avoid at all costs.

We arrived last July 25 so early from our flight from LA, I think around 8am but we have booked the night of July 24 already. The front desk officer was very generous to extend our stay for another night (26-27) since we almost didn't use our 1st night booking. Rooms are refurbished already so it's so cozy to stay and sleep. Only comment would be the door who cannot read key card. Every time we leave the hotel and return, the door won't open. They are currently renovating some rooms so all the doors have been replaced also. But other than that, the room is clean. Wide space for luggage, fluffy bed and pillows. Location is also okay, far from the busy business district and no homeless nearby. Worth every penny coz I feel safe and secured staying here

We stayed for two nights. The floor in the bathroom was all cracked. The carpet in front of bathroom was soaked our whole stay. Microwave door broken. Parking garage had broken down cars in it and filled with trash. Every 30 minutes you had to enter a code for the tv. There was no HBO, ESPN or other advertised channels. Not to mentioned we saw two cockroaches. We don't not recommend this hotel not sure how it was rated a 3 star if I could give a negative I would. This hotel doesn't even deserve a 1 star.

we unfortunately booked into this hotel thruough hotels.com because the reviews weren't bad. when we arrived, the manager was on the phone fielding a complaint from another prospective guest. he told us that the man was mad because some of the rooms were being renovated, explaining that since it was a family owned hotel, they could not afford to close the hotel and do it all at once, but rather, renovate a few rooms at a time. sounds reasonable, doesn't it?? we were then given the key to our room. for starters, one wall was half painted, with paint chips on the carpet. the tv, which barely worked, was sitting to the right of us, on the dresser, on top of an old stained towel. the two lamps on either side of the bed did not work, and the hanging lamp across from us was torn in several places. i can see the need to renovate rooms, but my advice to management would be, DON'T ASSIGN THE ROOM TO A GUEST BEFORE THE RENOVATION IS DONE!!!!! luckily, i called hotels.com, and they were nice enough to credit my credit card for the two nights we booked (the hotel would not) and we got out of there as fast as possible. i don't think this place gets my highest recommendation.

My room in this hotel was really horrible and gross. Check out the photos.

Stunk like smoke. Stains, crud, dust everywhere. Just filthy. Unbelievably noisy, not just from the street noise.

Huge spackled, but unpainted holes in the walls. Carpet and furniture looked like it was 20+ years old. Dank, dark. Holes in furniture. Cigarette burns, stains abound. Just totally gross. I was scared to get into bed.

I actually took a bunch of pictures, because it was so unbelievable. I wish I could post them all, but you can see people in most of them, so unfortunately, I can only post two. These really don't do this gross room justice.

So awful.

I know a lot of people might want to choose this hotel because of the price, but it's really not worth it if it was free. Don't do it.
