The Bar Harbor Inn is celebrated for its warm, traditional atmosphere, complete with live piano music and seasonal decorations that enchant guests. Many visitors commend the hotel's service as friendly and professional, though opinions on value are split, with some questioning the rates despite the prime location. The cleanliness of the hotel consistently earns high marks, with meticulously kept rooms and grounds. Amenities, such as the acclaimed continental breakfast and scenic pool, are also highlights, alongside the Inn's convenient location near local attractions. While the rooms are praised for their cleanliness and views, some suggest they could benefit from updates and improved soundproofing.

Hotel's Favourite
I traveled to Bar Harbor with my 75 year old mom, and we enjoyed our stay at the Bar Harbor Inn. The location can't be beat! We enjoyed the water-view room. (My mom would have been happy to sit on the porch and read her book the entire vacation.) The pool was lovely although the water was quite cold. There are 2 hot tubs, which we enjoyed. The spa services were great! We enjoyed the included continental breakfast which had a good number of selections including various pastries, yogurt, overnight oats, boiled eggs, fruit, bagels, and cereal. We also splurged on breakfast and dinner in the Reading Room each once , and both were excellent. The location really can't be beat! Besides the water view, and proximity to the pier for boat rides, we walked from the hotel to Main Street and Cottage Street and places in between for restaurants, shopping, and even the grocery store. The shore path is right in front of the hotel and it's also an easy walk to Bridge St and West where the Bar Island trail is available at low tide. The drive into the park is about 10 minute. Parking at the hotel was easily available. The only disappointment I had was the concierage was not very knowledgeable; I was able to get better tourist information at the Visitors Center on Main St and from locals that I met than from the Inn's concierge.

We booked an Ocean View room with a Deck and are so glad we did. Well worth the price. The view was great, and made the stay memorable. Room was well appointed and clean, but property doesn't have the feel of a five diamond hotel.

Dining was disappointing, Tried to make reservations for The Reading Room each night of our stay, prior to arrival, and it was sold out everyday of our stay. Might have been due to Covid and reduced seating but, no explanation was made. I would suggest reservations staff offer dinner reservations when they book the room if it is a common problem.

Terrance Grill was a beautiful location to dine, but the quality of food was not up to the location or price. We were given a beeper which didn't work and even though they had our cell phone, they didn't call, but just gave our table to the next party. When we finally got a table the quality of the food was just OK.

Morning Cont. Breakfast Buffet was also OK but not special in anyway.

The Bar Harbor Inn is a beautifully manicured and historic property, and we received excellent customer service during our stay.

It is definitely an upscale hotel, and you're justifiably paying for the prime location right next to Agamont Park in the very heart of town. The most bustling area of Bar Harbor and the beautiful Shore Path are literally right outside of the hotel, so if you value location, this is your place.

Travelling with our 7 year old daughter, the other big perk is that they have a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the Bay, and it's nicely heated. Not barely heated and uncomfortably cold like many other outdoor pools in the New England area, but legitimately comfortable. There are also 2 adjacent hot tubs, which are terrific as well.

The hotel is understandably expensive, and the rooms are a bit small at this price point. But you're paying for an A plus location and a beautiful swimming pool, which collectively made for a lovely stay.

We stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn for four nights - two rooms, ocean front, second floor. The location was the reason we booked at the Bar Harbor Inn - ocean front with easy walk to town. We found the bedrooms to be very comfortable with good mattresses and pillows. Good AC unit and flat screen, very clean. The bathrooms had been updated and in very good condition. Oceanfront rooms had amazing views. Screens/doors to the porch were a bit worn, but with New England winters, not surprised. Staff was very responsive to help us get setup, and then per Covid requirements, they didn't come in our rooms, which we preferred. Restaurants on site were fantastic- we had breakfast at the Reading Room twice and dinner at the Terrace Grill. Good social distancing in both places and the food was excellent. The staff was great, grounds are beautiful, and the pool provided a good cooling off after hiking in Acadia. The location to town made it so easy to get to everything quickly, and you couldn't ask for better access to most amenities in Bar Harbor. We saw newer and fancier facilities during our stay, but the charm, beauty, staff, comfort, amenities, location and view will bring us back for a future stay!

The Bar Harbor Inn allows travelers to experience Bar Harbor in its entirety, as long as they can afford to pay $300+/night. The resort itself is beautiful: grassy yards with gazebos and fountains and a long walking path along the water. The infinity pool and hot tub over-looking the harbor look like they are out of a movie. The proximity to downtown Bar Harbor could not be better; all of the best restaurants and shops are just steps away. Acadia National Park is just a ten minute drive away. The Bar Harbor Inn’s main restaurant, the Reading Room, is very elegant and upscale; The Terrace restaurant is more casual. Both offer spectacular views of the harbor. Even the complimentary continental breakfast every morning was good. This hotel also has a spa, which I will hopefully use next time I come. We had a lovely stay here.

Probably the best reference I could give is that we initially booked for three nights but after one night we immediately extended our stay to 5 nights. The location is perfect for Bar Harbor town, with exceptional views over the bay from the restaurants and sea facing rooms. The property is extremely well maintained, set in beautiful gardens and has all the facilities (heated pool, hot tub, gym) that anyone would need. No question this was a real treat !

We have stayed twice now at The Bar Harbor Inn with our kids and absolutely love it! This is a hotel to stay at if you appreciate a staffed hotel. The staff is so kind, helpful and friendly, especially the housekeeping staff. We have one child with special needs and so sometimes hang out in our room more often. We met a house keeper Lisa last year who really helped us whenever we needed something. It just eased out minds and made our stay so comfortable. So we were able to request her this this year! And days she was not here Rebecca was so willing to help us!

It’s summer 2020 now so they changed their breakfast to single serve containers and grab and go. Which works out really well. They even made the effort to have individual containers of their delicious fruit, hard boiled eggs, pastries and more. I really appreciate that they still offered the GF bread.

For lunch today, I ran into their chef at the pool who explained what food they offer there (which I think is new this year). I had a delicious lobster roll and a hummus and veggie plate which was so nicely presented it made me smile!

My family really enjoys the fun of their ocean view pool, it is an activity we really look forward too. And have fondly remembered how nice it is, all this last year!

We have a room with an ocean view, so we can watch the changing harbor at different times of the day! We love watching nature right from the comfort of our room.

The Bar Harbor Inn is a treasure!

My family and I stayed here and it was fantastic. Service was impeccable. Make dining reservations (whether at Reading Room or Terrace) due to limited capacity during COVID. Lots of people come off property to dine here so it is tough to get food. We scored a table in the bar area but it was all luck! Otherwise it was a 2 hour wait for a family of 4. I also recommend getting the package with meals. Usually I think it’s a waste but the food is AMAZING and the deal is very generous. Worth it for sure (especially dinner). And for breakfast the deal includes tip and tax.

Nice staff and property - BUT We stayed for three nights and by the time we checked out, we both had busted up shins. The bed frames were clearly made for a slightly larger mattress. This causes the bed frame to stick out further then the mattress, which leads to people bashing into the bed frame NUMEROUS times. We are not be the only ones that had this painful experience. It's been five days since we left and my right leg is still a bit sore. My wife's legs are worse. Here is a cut and past that I just found from Trip Advisor "The rooms are updated but be wary of the bed frame (juts out) as I have multiple bruises from running into it at night. And here is an Expedia review "Please trade out the bed frame to recess the corner legs." Do a Google search for Bar Harbor Inn bed frame. It's a real problem. Keep in mind that stats show that only 1 in 20 people complain. It's a real issue, especially for a room that is about $300 per night. We literally positioned chairs and trash cans at the corners to help us avoid hitting them.

The perfect inn from which to explore Bar Harbor and the surrounding areas. The inn is within walking distance of shops and restaurants yet separated enough from the downtown area for some quiet. We had a lovely waterfront room. The inn boasts lush gardens and an infinity pool. The continental breakfast is more than sufficient with a variety of cereals, fruits, yogurt, and fresh baked goods. The inn staff is friendly and efficient. We especially liked their text system (since some COVID precautions still in effect) to request additional towels and linens.

We had a second floor room on the oceanfront and would recommend it. We were towards the end of the building and it was perfect for being quiet plus sitting on the deck for sunrise and sunsets was great!

The view is beautiful and epic. We were on the ground floor and loved it - sat outside for our coffee and drinks everyday! I’m sure the view is even better if you get a second or third floor room.
