Getting there
Somewhat walkable
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Got tickets for Water Park access for only $15, spent the day enjoying with kids. Lunch is pricey it’s best to get the burger deals or hot dogs outside in the hallway. You must rent towels for $5 down and get $2 back so bring your own!

Food was fresh hot and delicious. Lot of variety and service was great. Sunday brunch was $30 per adult and we felt it was priced perfectly. Highly recommend for any birthday brunch or lunch occasion. Staff was very helpful and kept our tea glass full.

I reserved a corner ocean view room but upon check-in was told that they had upgraded my room to their tower. When I arrived at that room, it overlooked some other roofs of buildings and a pool. This was in no way an upgrade. I called the front desk and told them that I was not happy. They found an ocean/beach view room and moved me. It was not the corner room that I had reserved, but it was okay. As far as the hotel itself, it is a bit dated and needs some renovations. The AC controls in the room does not give an option to select a temperature. It is merely a push button panel with low/med/high buttons (very dated). The room television was very small (about 32", if that much) and the remote control menu was difficult to navigate. I would have to keep pushing the menu button to get it to finally change from the hotel channel to those of the movie and television channels. The remote control requires some sort of ir device located under the TV to work. It looks like a spy camera, but I used my personal bug/camera detector and decided it was just an ir device for the remote (strange and very dated). Of the three lobby elevators, only one was working. The elevator that takes you to the basement parking makes strange noises and the panel buttons are damaged. The aquarium located near the lobby had tons of algae growth and was in dire need of cleaning. The lighting in the aquarium was very dim and in need of repair/replacement. This was not an appealing aesthetic. When I checked out at 0500 there was nobody working at the front desk. I rang their bell a few times and nobody showed so I left my room key on their counter and proceeded to the airport. As far as the restaurants, the breakfast buffet was good with several options. The Japanese restaurant Sagano was very nice and the food was great. They obviously have a talented chef there. The hotel staff for the most part were very nice. It was just the check-in process mentioned above that was very unsatisfactory. All in all, I will choose a different hotel the next time that I go to Guam.

Booked a room for a weekend staycation. Prices depends on which room you avail. The stay was well worth it as it comes with a few perks. SUP paddle boards and kayaks are free. Waterpark passes are included as well.

I am currently staying in this resort and I can honestly say that this place sucks. Granted there is a storm passing through so can't really enjoy the waterpark nor beach. The hotel is dirty, the rooms are dirty. I checked in and my first room had no towels there was hair on the toilet seat and bed. I checked in around 8pm and the host behind the counter was brand new and was left alone. When I finally got to my room, I was ready to shower after a long day of traveling and there were no towels. Sheets were dirty, toilet was nasty. Bad experience. And I still have three day left. SUCKS! Lastly the rooms do not come equiped with iron nor ironing board requested it yesterday and again today, both times was told it was being brought up and still waiting.

My two children and I stayed at the OBR when we arrived in Guam for our PCS move. We enjoyed the hotel very much. The lobby is expansive and nicely decorated. There are several (pricey) restaurants, but most cater to the predominantly Asian tourists so we opted to dine elsewhere. There are two shops, one having mostly snacks and drinks, and the other having clothes and souveniers. There is free internet access for guests - four computers just off the lobby. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Our room was nicely appointed and clean. We had two double beds, a pull out couch and a trundle under one bed, so the room could sleep up to eight, but it would be a tight squeeze. There was a refrigerator/freezer and coffee pot (no microwave). Maid service was friendly and prompt each day.
The best part of the Onward: The beautiful sand beach, three pools and a full water park adjacent to the hotel. The beach has a barrier island so the water is calm. We snorkled to the island twice, and kayaked to it once, and I'm told one could walk there in low tide. The pools just outside the hotel are a bit on the small side (one is a childrens' pool) and have an adjacent hot tub - and all are well maintained. Several lounge chairs surround the pool area, which overlook the beach. Next to the pools there is a full service rental area for beach items (lockers, towels, life jackets, snorkeling equip, two-man kayaks, etc) all are free for hotel guests to use, with a very friendly staff. They do charge for parasailing, scuba diving, and jet skis, understandibly. Beyond the rental area, is the water park - again free to hotel guests. The water park has lifeguards and a sncak bar. It has what my kids referred to as a "half-pipe" (a steep, half circle tube ride), several slides/tubes, a lazy river, kiddie areas, a hot tub, and a large wave pool. My kids are strong swimmers (12 and 14) and after a few days there, I felt comfortable allowing them to use the pools and water park alone (not the ocean) as they had a sufficient lifeguard presence. The only slight negative is that the Onward is off the "tourist strip" so a car would be desired to get to other areas...however a shuttle to the shopping areas is free and frequent. In closing, I would recommend the Onward and would stay there again - particularly with kids!

I would not normally write criticisms, but never in my life have I had high blood pressure just requesting for service. I understand that workers just obey orders, just blindly following orders and not considering the needs or situation of the customer. Onward needs more heart, more care and not all business. I felt everything is business first and if a customer does not fall in line of business first, then forget it. I'm so sad, so neglected.

Guam has become a regular visiting resort for my wife and I. We have tried The Aurora (now run by Lotte), Westin, Sheraton and Hilton. As we have never stayed at Onward, we thought we'll give it a try. First of all, we had a snow storm nightmare and my schedule got messed up even before we left our country. After unsuccessfully reaching our airport we contacted Onward and not only were they kind enough to cancel our reservation on such short notice but they promised to shift our reservation should we be able to fly out after the storm. So after 2 days delay we set off to Guam. The hotel is not so far from the airport so we took a cab from Miki taxi firm. Checking in was smooth and our shift in our schedule was already on record with the staff. We stayed at the Tower side of the hotel. The room was huge ! with ocean view balcony and an ocean view bath tub ! The complimentary lounge service which you get for staying at Tower wasn't so impressive. Breakfast was okay. The In-house restaurants they have, the Italian Caravel and the Japanese Sagano both were great ! The general location of the hotel may be a little bit inconvenient compared to other hotels on Guam but we tend to rent a car during our stay so there was no problem. Will stay again.

I'm in Onward now. And I want to go other resort right now. It's the worst place I've been. In my room, I can see only the roof of the next building. The manager in front desk is really unkind and rudeness. I will never visit Onward resort again. Never!!! Never!!!!!!!!

I've been coming to Onward for some time now ! Whenever my kids want a weekend getaway this is the place we always find ourselves coming to . Despite all the negative comments - we've had no problem what so ever ! Staff was always On point & room were always perfect ! In other words it is what's expected of a Hotel , & that's more than I can say for some hotels here on Guam that charge an arm and a leg ( an service is really bad ) . The water park is the place to be for family & the cable selection is amazing . I've had rooms in other hotels that only offer a simple set ( they tend to forget that some of us islanders love to wind down to a good English movie before bedtime ) . All on all - Keep up the good work guys , you're doing great !!!
