Hotel's Favourite
For the last three nights of our visit to Jackson, we transitioned to the Amangani. What a wonderful experience from start to finish! Everyone we encountered was warm, friendly, and helpful.

The experience started with pick up from our hotel in downtown Jackson. We were greeted by the General Manager and escorted to check in. Our room wasn't quite ready so we were given a refreshing cool drink, a tour of the property, and encouraged to relax. Within an hour, they called to let us know our room was ready.

Our room was gorgeous with a beautiful view of the mountains and valley below. I think I could have spent the entire time on the balcony! We had spa reservations for a message that afternoon and my husband and I thought the experience rivaled the best at other resorts. We had a delicious lunch at the Grill (more in a separate review on that experience).

We had chosen to not rent a car and the hotel took us to our dinner reservation in Teton Village and came to pick us up. We were delighted to come back to a gift (each night) from the turndown service. What a lovely surprise!

It was also my birthday during the trip (not while we were at the hotel) and, upon learning this information, they treated us to a sweets platter and Champagne. All non-alcoholic beverages are available at no charge as well as the snacks provided in the room.

While we did not use the Fitness Center, it was well-equipped and included a Peloton Bike. The grounds are gorgeous and they also have a very nice pool and hot tub set-up. Before we left, we were already talking about going back!

Where do I even begin. From the moment you arrive you are on top of a mountain, it is quiet and serene. The staff welcomes you and are extremely friendly and helpful. You then walk in to such a grandiose lobby. The rooms are spaced out down long corridors with high ceilings, it doesn’t feel like your typical hotel with cramped rooms and tons of people around. The room is very clean and spacious with breathtaking views, extremely large bathroom with his/hers separate sinks and a large closet again his/hers - even the bathroom has stunning views! The pool area is quiet and clean with attentive staff. Make sure to get the Paint It Black drink! The hotel felt like a wellness retreat. Wherever you want to have drinks or breakfast/lunch/dinner they will set it up for you - if that’s in your room, the library, the lobby in front of the fireplace, the terrace - you ask and they will go above and beyond to deliver! They are immediate with their service, they are kind and helpful with planning, the hotel could not be anymore perfect. We continued on with our trip and wanted to try the Four Seasons as well and I am so upset we aren’t at Amangani!!! We will be back!

This hotel was amazing. Everything was wonderful. The all Mountain View room was spacious and well appointed with central heating, a fireplace and a soaking tub with view of mountains, and a balcony patio, robes, slippers, separate shower with view of mountains, dyson humidifier, dyson blow dryer and dyson space heater. The housekeeping staff filled the complementary snacks and beverages and the bath salts and bubble bath daily. The staff is so eager to make the stay perfect! The restaurants were fantastic with world-class cuisine. The chef himself may be the best ever and was so friendly and welcoming. The outdoor hot tub, fully stocked gym and steam rooms and full service spa make the stay even more amazing. We have stayed all over the country and in many parts of the world and this luxury spot and attentiveness were the very best! We will be staying at other Aman Brand hotels around the world after our experience in Jackson hole. Every single moment from making the reservation, to pulling up to the valet, to checking into the room, to making reservations for around town, to dining there, all through checking out was a wonderful experience in every way. I am super impressed with the staff. The location is stunning. Stay here for a great experience in the mountains of Wyoming!

This was our first stay at an Aman property and we enjoyed it. The food was great at the grill and Hannah and Oscar did a great job as our waiters! Also really enjoyed the daily gifts, that was a nice touch. It is cool how you can eat anywhere as we had a couple meals in front of the big fireplaces with a huge burning fire :)

Service all around was solid, everyone was nice, accommodating and definitely looked to go out of their way to help us out. We stayed during May in shoulder season and the resort/JH wasn't too busy. If we came back, I'd prefer to come at the end of May/early June when there are direct flights from LA and South Yellowstone entrance is open (it was closed still when we were there early May and some hiking trails in Tetons were too snowy still). Rates are cheaper during this time too apparently, one guy said he nabbed a room way in advance for $750/night. Not sure I'd pay more than about $1.5-2k though for this particular property though.

The only area that needs work is the pool service. I feel like every time we went out to the pool, it would take 20 to 30 minutes before someone would come out. And I was also a little disappointed that nothing was done for my wife's bday. I had emailed and also mentioned it when we checked in but nada.

I was also a little skeptical of the whole no bill thing and then when I got my final bill I noticed that I was charged twice for our room service breakfast on the last day which is totally not ok if you're going to do this no bill thing lol. They refunded the charge (duh) but nothing else. Manager e-mailed me for normal post stay feedback and I emailed him a long/imo helpful review and I never got a reply. Kind of annoying, if you're going to ask for feedback, at least acknowledge it when you get it :)

Amangani is an absolutely stunning property with breathtaking views! We stayed 3 nights at the end of September and it took us 2 hours after check-in time to get our room. I was expecting a smoother check-in process from a high-end hotel with only 40 rooms on property. They did provide us with complimentary beverages while we waited, but frankly, we were exhausted from previous days up north in Yellowstone. The service from their staff was excellent. Our room service breakfast each morning was expertly prepared and always warm. Our dinner on the property was okay. One of the most egregious charges we received on our final bill was for chips, salsa, & guacamole at the pool (they have no pool menu were you can see the pricing ahead of time). They charged us $50 ($10 chips, $14 mediore salsa, $14 guacamole, and a $10 service fee). I fully understand resort food is often pricey, and expected that of this hotel, but to me this is just simply unacceptable.

We had an excellent stay at Amangani for our honeymoon. The hotel is fantastic, the view is breathtaking, and the staff is amazing, attentive, and courteous. Special call outs to Jarod, Stephen, Marcela, and Taylor! Housekeeping and turndown were impeccable. They even ask for your dinner plans at check-in, so housekeeping can do their thing when you are out, and you are not disturbed. Speaking of dinner, the food at the Amangani grill is second to none, and it was the best meal we had during our entire stay. Quite frankly, just the view is worth the price, but getting all that other pampering and service is certainly welcome. We will certainly stay here again!

You don't even have to splurge on the Grand Teton Suite to get spectacular views. The "poor people's" rooms that open up to the back away from the Tetons still have an eye popping view of the valley. Property located high on a butte giving one of the best infinity pool views ever. My string of bad luck with Aman properties hosting weddings when I'm there continued, causing staff to be diverted to the event. The experience here further solidified the finding that Aman service outside of Asia does not match the legendary status the brand has become known for. Granted, no one did anything bad or incompetent, but when paying these prices you'd expect to experience the mythic level of service that has been written about them. The design is impeccable in that undeniable Aman style -- modern but understated and tasteful, a surprising use of a lot of blacks and dark wood. It matches the setting beautifully. Dining is not Aman's star quality and this was the case here too, perfectly adequate, tasty dinner but nothing worth making a side trip for. The real star of the show here is the one in a million location. Go for that view alone.

We spent 3 nights here and enjoyed the hotel well enough. We have stayed at many Amans around the world so have quite a bit to compare this one to. The service was just about up to par with what you expect from an Aman and several folks were especially helpful. The room was large, comfortable and had lots of amenities. The fitness room and spa were also very nice (and took COVID precautions). The restaurant was solid but nothing to write home about and overpriced in my opinion. Breakfast was much better than dinner. The waiters were very nice, though. The main plus for this hotel is the views - they are spectacular. That’s good, because the hotel itself seems a little worn and dated. It had a definite 1990’s feel - especially the paneling and the artwork. In terms of location, this place is a bit outside of downtown Jackson - we didn’t mind the drive, but if you want to spend a lot of time downtown, this is not the hotel for you.

We recently returned from Amangani in Jackson Hole. The view from our room was absolutely stunning! A lush green valley with cows roaming. The view reminded me of Yellowstone. We stayed in room 1. It was a king size bed with a sitting area. They brought in a roll away for our son to sleep on. However, he could have slept on the couch. The room is a corner room so you have two views of the valley below.
The staff was great, they were very accommodating. They were required to wear mask. Guest were not. We ate at the restaurant several times for breakfast and dinner. I have two older daughters who are vegan and they modified their dishes to make vegan.
One tiny thing that did bother me was the consistency with the placemats. Sometimes when we would sit down, a placemat was placed in front of me, other times it was not and the food plate was placed on the table. They would wait to bring utensils when the food was brought out. Not a big deal, but this is a 5 star resort. For some reason this bugged me. The table should have been set before we were seated.
My spa treatment was wonderful!! Christian did a wonderful job and was very professional.
The pool appears to be a lap pool. My son enjoyed the hot tub and heated pool. Food can be ordered at pool.
There are many activities in Jackson Hole. Fly fishing, float down the snake river, horse back riding, trips to the grand Teton or Yellowstone. A little something for everyone!!
Our family will definitely return... post Corona!!!

If you are an Amanjunkie then you know this is not a highly rated Aman.

For the rest of the luxury world the typical comparison in the area is to the Four Seasons. With those rooms pricing out insanely high, the Aman is currently the budget 5 star option.

Having stayed in both, I think the FS service is a bit better, but maybe only by like 2%.

The Aman’s decor is much better. Sorry to hear so many have issues with it, but to our families eyes it was very nice, MUCH better architecture and more beautiful layout than the FS which is a jumble of nice, but not well thought out details (the design just doesn’t flow like at the Aman).

That said there are some mysterious issues that our room (33 I think) had - shades that needed the drawstring repaired and the toilet paper needs to be higher quality.

Food hit or miss, I think there must be one chef that is very good and the other not so much.

Staff very nice and well intentioned if not polished to the extent of an international 5 star (but again the FS does not come close to this either).

Ski lodge enormously helpful and great.

Like all Amans the minibar is totally free - such a nice touch versus the nickel and dime mentality of the FS.

All in all for 1/2 the price of the FS we got a roughly comparable or better experience at the Aman.

All other guests we talked to were happy with the experience as well.

It will be spring time with temperatures ranging from 50-70's during the day and lower at night. You will definitely want to layer. You will usually start with a jacket in the early morning and then can remove by lunch. I hope you can go in May.

is April a good time to visit ?
Answer from Stuart L
April is a transition month in Jackson Hole and as such many locals head to the desert or to the beach. In some parts of country April is referred to as "mud season." On the bright side traffic is light and checkout at the grocery store is awesome. You make up your own mind. Hope to see you in Jackson Hole real soon.
