Aqua Beach Bungalows, exclusively for gay men, has earned accolades for its immaculate bungalows and communal spaces, though there's a desire for more inclusive cleaning services. Its enviable location near Yumbo and the beach is a highlight for guests, as is the spaciousness of the well-appointed rooms. The pool and jacuzzi are popular amenities, but guests have expressed concerns over the extra fees for basic services. While the staff's warmth is often praised, service experiences, particularly at reception, can be hit or miss. The relaxed, convivial atmosphere is a standout feature, despite some guests questioning the overall value given the additional costs.

This is our second stay at this gay resort because we had such a wonderful experience the first time.

We decided to spend our honeymoon here.
Upon check in, our room was not ready yet (we were very early) so Leiber assured us it would be ready as soon as possible and held our bags for us, and even comped us some drinks at the bistro bar.
We decided to have lunch while we waited and Leiber had our bags in our room and personally delivered our room keys to us in the restaurant before we even received our food.

The service here is first class and the bungalows are immaculate and beautiful.

The hotel bistro-restaurant has delicious food and offers poolside service as well.

Great for naturists: you can be naked anywhere in the complex at any time 24/7

Perfect resort location being on the quieter, south end of Avenida estados unidos, directly opposite the Yumbo Centre.

The pool was beautiful and warm. The bungalow were very clean.

After almost 2 years of lockdown etc. We booked our favourite place to stay.
During lockdown they have obviously spent some time adding a few more decorative pieces and some new furniture, attention to detail here is second to none. (I even saw the fire extinguishers being serviced whilst we were there) The staff are very friendly and always helpful.
The bungalows are very well maintained and spotlessly clean, the location is ideal for us and although this time we stayed in the closest bungalow to the road/Yumbo, we were not disturbed by noise, in fact if anything, with the one way system in place the door was only used for going out which meant there was less footfall going through the gate. (maybe keep that?)
The pool is great for chilling down and the Jacuzzi is nice and warm.
Can`t find anything negative to say, we love this place and will return very soon!

We enjoyed a last minute week at the Aqua Beach as the hotel we usually stay at was fully booked. Overall the resort is very well maintained, the pool area is spacious, with plenty of sunbeds, the bar is well stocked and I can recommend the cocktails. We only ate in the restaurant once and the food was tasty and well presented. The bungalows are clean, comfortable and well equipped, however, they would benefit from including an Iron. The resort is great for couples, singles or groups, providing a private and relaxing environment and amazingly it is just 1 minutes walk to the Yumbo Centre, which has dozens of restaurants and bars. The price was not expensive and I would have paid more, so charging extra for the air conditioning just seems a little unnecessary. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for a great week.

Dear Yumbo15 Thank you for enjoying your stay with us at Aqua Beach Bungalows. Thanks again for taking the time to write a review about us. As described on our info channel: There is an ironing board and iron, free of charge, available to all our guests in the departure room. We have made a conscious decision to provide additional facilities as an option. Therefore it is also possible for guests with a small wallet. We are already looking forward to welcoming you back to our resort soon.

This was my first time at Aqua Beach and I’ve already rebooked to return in October. I’ve stayed at many places in Maspalomas over the years but Aqua Beach really ticks all the boxes. It’s next to the Yumbo but relatively quiet and very spacious. It has a wonderful heated pool, big jacuzzi, is clothing optional and really is as sociable or private as you want it to be. The 1 bedroom bungalows are very comfortable with a separate lounge and open plan, well equipped kitchen. The food and drinks at the bar are great if you just want to sunbathe and stay put all day.

Third time staying here in 18 months & as we arrived after reception closes, we had to use Aqua Beach’s private transfer service & driver gave us keys for apartment.

Apartment was clean & well presented but very hot & we had no aircon (you can have it for an extra €10 per day). Bed had a quilt on it (in this heat?!), mattress was memory foam, which was not the most comfortable & pillows were very soft. Bed linen was similar to brushed cotton & very warm, so the end result was a lot of very sweaty nights - all of which soaked into mattress, pillows & bed linen.

Check in on first morning & Eric was his usual unwelcoming & miserable self. He made no acknowledgment of us returning again & like every time you use his services at reception or bar, you feel like you are an inconvenience. He can be so rude, ignorant & cannot multitask- he cannot even acknowledge your presence at reception or bar if he is already doing something. The young man who works there on Eric’s days off is the complete opposite & is so friendly, welcoming & helpful - it’s a shame he doesn’t work there on more days. The owners can be equally ignorant of their customers & only acknowledge & speak to their fellow Dutch visitors.

Whilst all the facilities continue to be well maintained, there is distinct lack of some basic services you get at other hotels/resorts as standard. Cleaning of the apartments is minimal & towels changed every 2/3 days and a quick mop of bathroom floor. Terrace outside apartment was never swept & we had to sweep this ourselves as leaves & seeds from nearby plants accumulated here. Bed linen was only changed after 6 sweaty nights & was desperately needed by then! You can have more frequent cleaning & bed linen/towel changes for an extra charge of course!

We fully appreciate that Aqua Beach is marketed as a premium product due to it’s location close to Yumbo and being men only & clothing optional. That said, the services included in the premium price fall short of what is included as standard by most other hotels & resorts. When booking, there is a long list of optional extras, all at a premium price. Surely more frequent cleaning, linen/towel changes & aircon should be standard. Money is obviously important to the owners who only have one member to staff on site to do everything (no wonder he is rude & grumpy!) & only one cleaner for the whole complex. The minimum length of stay being 10 nights is not achievable for many people at this time of year, either due to cost or availability of leave from work. Surely a 7 night minimum would actually increase occur and business revenue?

Overall, Aqua Beach is in a great location & has excellent facilities but customer service & customer experience needs work, as does the long list of optional extras and apparent obsession with charging for everything you would expect to be included at this price level.

Aqua Beach is good but could easily be so much better with friendlier staff & more inclusive services as standard.

This superb resort really does tick all the boxes! Tastefully appointed bungalows surround a tranquil and peaceful pool and bar area, they are well decorated and with amazingly comfortable memory-foam, super king-size mattresses, all within a secure walled area literally a stones throw from the Yumbo Centre.

The grounds are beautifully maintained, the pool is lovely, there’s a jacuzzi and you have the option of cooking for yourself or making the most of the resort’s restaurant/bar area or even a combination of both.

It is advertised as ‘clothing optional’ and it truly is; there is no pressure to be naked and by my reckoning there was a fairly even split between those who chose and felt very comfortable being naked and guests who preferred not to. I felt very safe and secure the whole time and the atmosphere was never too cruisy. Despite its proximity to the Yumbo it was always peaceful and tranquil.

One of my overriding impressions was how immaculately clean the whole place was; meticulous detail is paid the the cleanliness of every aspect of the resort and the room service was discreet, friendly and thorough. The staff were charming, friendly and helpful. We were sad to leave and will definitely be back! Really can’t speak/write highly enough about this place. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so memorable.

PS: One additional delight I should mention was that because we were visiting over Christmas and New Year there were little gifts for us on arrival and a bottle of pink cava and party packs for New Year celebrations - utterly enchanting,

CAUTION !
We were due to stay here ( I think our 8th year) from 1st Aug to 15th August 2020.When we made the booking the accommodation was non refundable the other elements like AC, plus service and safe are refundable. Due to Covid our flight got cancelled and I understand the non refundable element is non refundable but I would have thought the owners would have been more flexible in allowing us to change our dates even if for a small admin fee. Incidentally this was the only option at the time of booking! I have emailed and emailed asking for a refund of 287 Euros for the AC, Service Plus and Safe as these are refundable. We could have taken these options when in the resort and it is clear on our booking these are NOT classed as non refundable! I hear a few similar stories on google and trip advisor. I know this is the year of COVID-19 so times are not normal.
When I’ve phoned and left a message still no one replies to my emails.
The owners I am sure will lose out in the long term as we will not be staying here again and others on Google Reviews and Trip Advisor say the same. Short sited indeed. I hope for the very excellent staff the business survives.
In business I believe there needs to be a degree of common sense and flexibility but the owners Richard and Maarten really don’t seem to see the bigger picture and are not customer focused.
I am lost for words and still waiting my refund for 287 Euros.
Thank you for reading and hope this has been helpful to others.
If there is a change of owners we will of course look again but until then staying elsewhere. On the 9th August I notice there is a new website which is in Spanish only and no option to read in other Languages.

I stayed at Aqua Beach for 2 weeks in January. Friendly crowd of neighbours and a great location.
The guys running the place are always on hand to whip up a cocktail or even a full meal throughout the day- the service is great and friendly.
Bungalows are well equipped and everything worked too- I paid for air conditioning which I imagine in summer is an even greater bonus.. Housekeeping discreet, friendly and efficient.
At the Yumbo in 5 minutes but lying by the pool or in the jacuzzi you feel a million miles away. All day sun, poolside service, comfy beds- as relaxed as you want it or as crazy as you like it just minutes away. I definitely look forward to coming back later in the year.

Sorry for the late review.....
The aquabeach bungalows are in the best location, just in front of Yumbo
The bungalows are comfotable with a well equipped kitchinette and very nicely decorated. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are immacolate and there is a small butgreat gym.
The guys at the reception/bar Leiber and Arek are adorable and so are the owners.....wonderful attitude, polite and very well mannered. They all make you feel at home and they really make the difference.
Probably the best hotel of it's kind.

Reasonably priced flights are harder to come by these days. If you search ‘flight comparison’ online, I usually use one called cheap flights to search by departure airport and date.

They do have a cancellation policy - sadly I personally don’t think it’s too good. It depends on how many days before you were meant to fly

Hello Paul, I can’t answer that question. But we have the same problem. They don’t respond also on our emails. I think we lost our money and have no holiday in an other period this year. But it would be nice and polite from them to let us know that they have problems and answer emails from quests.
