Great location walking distance to beach, park, shops & restaurants. It should be noted actual hotel with parking garage sits to rear of property. Lobby & a.m. breakfast is in separate building east of hotel. (see map) Outdoor pool & elevator. No 1st floor rooms. Nestled in a tropical tree setting had room facing pool & pond. Pet friendly hotel but an alligator 🐊 sat daily preventing us from walking by it. Room has Keurig, microwave & mini fridge. All rooms have small balcony with sliding door.

Not what we expected. I felt mislead when we checked in – I was expecting accommodations that were a short walk to the beach. In actuality, the hotel rooms were at least ½ mile away from the most crowded beach on the Island. I was also surprised to see that the reception desk and breakfast area was in a separate location about 2 tenths of a mile from the rooms. This is not made clear in the hotel information when booking, and advertising walking distance to the beach is misleading for most people. During our stay – I spoke to several other guests who felt the same – so I know we were not the only guests who felt this way. I listed items that were positive and items than need improvement. Need Improvement: On a Friday evening around 9PM – the front desk line went to voice mail. There were no writing pads available – even from the front desk, No TV listings – the staff blamed covid, but they could have used throw away photocopies or a laminated copy that could be sanitized. The Hallways need freshen up. The pool water was cloudy, which raised questions on the water quality. The hotel had some good points: There was adequate parking – including covered parking. The rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable. Showers worked with hot water most of the time. The breakfast was great – it was like the breakfasts I remember. The WIFI worked great, and the room had plenty of electric and USB outlets. The staff was polite and tried to be helpful.
Bottom line is that I do not believe that the value was there. Given the points above – combined with an annoying $18 per day resort fee for a cloudy pool – the value was not there. At almost $1300 for 4 nights, we paid 4-star rates for 2-star accommodations, even if it is Hilton Head in July. We will not return to this property. While there, I spoke to other guests who felt the same way. There are nicer places in Hilton Head for the same price point.

Hi Steve, we thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to learn you felt disappointed. Yes, Coligny Beach can be busy in the summer season! We hope you used the free shuttle to get around as well. We are sorry you could only reach our Front Desk's voicemail on Friday night. We understand your frustration. It's true we are under COVID guidelines with paper and rely heavily on digital. You make a good point about the TV guide, and based on your recommendation have added the TV channels to our website providing a digital TV listing. The pool is cleaned daily and recently was tested by our state's governing safety authority. We are glad you enjoyed the included breakfast, fast WiFi, guest room digital ports, and free parking while staying. Again, we appreciate your time.

The hotel is a very good value for what it is and the location. The staff are all friendly and attentive, the rooms are serviced well. The included breakfast has a great selection of hot and cold foods. That's the good. The bad is that there is a lot of work going on in the area to add park like facilities which makes you feel as if you're on a building site. It seems like the hotel is holding off on some maintenance (paintings, window cleaning, etc.) Until construction stops. Probably they will raise prices when the area is prettier.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our hotel! We are happy to hear you had a great stay. It is true, the Town of Hilton Head has some construction going on. Our property is adjacent to a big, beautiful Lowcountry Celebration Park, that is currently being built and due to be completed in May of 2020. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the incoming park, and we are in a prime location to offer so much more to our guests. We do hope you will come again soon! Best regards,

If you are looking for a dark, dank, depressing place to stay from the 1960's then this is your place. We checked in on Monday and were told there are no king bed rooms at the hotel. It took a while to check in as the reception area for check-in is in a separate building from the hotel. We had to find a hotel employee to ask where to check in to the hotel and then drive back to reception. The beds in the hotel are very, very good as are the pillows. The shower works fine but the bathtub is so small it seems like a toy. The bathroom sink is in the hallway by itself as in a cheap $30 motel and the bathroom has no mirror. Water pressure was fine as was the hot water. The room appears to have not been updated since the mid 1960's. Carpeting in the hallway was permanently stained. The hotel hallways are very dark. Approximately 4pm on our first full day I drove to the reception desk to mention that there has been no one to clean the room. It was then I was told that unless we plan to stay at least six days we would not have maid service. I inquired as to why and was told it was due to the Covid 19 pandemic. I commented to the person behind the desk that due to Covid 19 they should consider cleaning rooms two times a day and not once every six days. They did say they would replace towels and empty trash containers if we request that service. Personally I am tired of companies hiding behind Covid 19 for their failings. Our maid lost a nice tip because of this at a time my wife and I are trying our best to make sure we tip more than normal and more often than ever. They should have placed more thought into this idea if just for their employees. On a brighter note, the hotel is perfectly situated geographically to everything you would either want or need to do on Hilton Head Island. In 2020, IMG hotels ought to be embarrassed to have this excuse for a hotel in their group. This hotel needs a major shake-up and update. unfortunately, it is a cash cow in a hot area so I do not expect much to be done. Do not stay here!! This hotel is a dump and a blight on the good name of Holiday Inn.

Thank you, Ed B for taking the time to share your feedback and experience with us. We are truly sorry you found the hotel not up to your expectations. Our team members stand ready to serve you with the utmost hospitality, and when we fall short, we want to ensure you, we value you and your insights. Our 6-acre property is perfectly situated! We work hard to communicate the location of our property's buildings. We are sorry for the inconvenience you had with the overall layout of separate buildings. We are glad you weren't disappointed with the beds and pillows or water pressure and temperature. Our rooms were renovated in 2015, to the latest Holiday Inn Express brand standard of Formula Blue. Our team has addressed your remarks on the hallway carpet and concerns on lighting. The open air corridors are regulated to the island's nighttime ordinances to protect the ecosystem's wildlife. Our IHG brand has placed strict COVID-19 protocols and procedures to protect both guests and team members. The restrictions are the modifications you mentioned. We are not providing daily housekeeping service for stay-over guests. If you would like for your room to be cleaned, you must notify the Front Desk. Likewise, if you need fresh towels or additional toiletries, you just let us know. As it has always been, the safety and security of our guests remains our highest priority. Please accept our apologies that your stay didn't meet your expectations. We would like the opportunity to make this up to you. Please reach out to Kirsten at 843-842-6662 ext. 1610.

We’re long-time IHG members. Be sure to read the COVID info sheet given to all guests at check in. We weren’t informed of any of the changes when we called and spoke/booked directly with this hotel - less than one week prior to stay. Booked a balcony. Didn’t get one. They did move us, though. Bring your own chairs for the balcony. You must request that your room be cleaned. Since they seemed so short of help, we opted for daily fresh towels. I asked what we do with used towels, and the front desk person didn’t seem to know. We suggested putting them outside the door. That’s what we did for 3 days. Also, you must ask for fresh “towels”, so be sure to also say “wash cloths and hand towels, too” or you’ll only get towels. Trash bins at the ends of the hallways were full. Trash piled beside them was up to the height of the bins. No hot breakfast. A bag is placed outside your door. First day was yogurt, apple, muffin, breakfast bar. Second day, less food. Third day, even less. And here’s a pic of our final day. This was breakfast for two people to share! We had a good laugh! We were told they ran out of food. Fortunately there are plenty of restaurants open as well as a grocery store nearby! Pool area is closed, Although the room was updated, it needed a deep cleaning, as did the elevators. . Walls are very thin. Expect noise.

Thank you for your review of our hotel. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and helps us to better the experience of all our guests. I am not certain if you made reservations directly with our Front Desk (when it's very busy, these calls get rerouted to Central Reservations offsite.) If so, they may not have known which changes had been made due to COVID-19 at our particular hotel. If you called directly, I do apologize for the oversight. Please know we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety and health of all our guests and our community in an evolving situation. Our housekeeping services were reduced at the time of your stay so as to minimize unnecessary human contact with our guests. We are sorry not to be able to offer our Hot Fresh Breakfast until further notice, but we do deliver our Grab-n-Go breakfast bags to each guest daily. Unfortunately we did run out of food at the time of your visit, and we apologize for the inconvenience. The closing of our pool and fitness center were closed as per South Carolina's Governor McMaster's statewide orders, but as of today they are both open again. With regard to reduced staff, we are sorry for the unattended trash bins at the ends of the hallway. These are not the normal standards we uphold at the Holiday Inn Express Hilton Head, and we hope that you will see fit to give us another chance in the future to delight you during your next stay. Thank you again for your feedback. Please stay safe! #StaySalty

We stayed here for Memorial Day as business restrictions were easing around the country. We were notified at check-in that a hot breakfast would not be provided, but some continental style items would be sent to our room. I understand that. I just think the rates should be reduced some until that service is restarted.

I was turned off the most when we got to the lobby of the building where the guest rooms are. It was a bit outdated and basic. There was a 1980 range couch that was nasty and a overflowed, tiny trash can in front of the elevators. I was about ready to go turn my key back in but remembered that finding a room this late on a holiday weekend would be hard to find. So we stuck it out and went up the our room. Our room was actually a saving grace. It was very clean and updated. It overlooked a lagoon that had a few turtles and a little alligator in it. The only strange thing about the room is it lacked chairs on the balcony. You must bring your own. No other real complaints.

The staff was nice, especially Sonia and Jasmine. I only wished they had wore face masks given this health crisis we're in.

We rented bikes to get around town but could easily have just walked across to the Coligny Beach and shops that were very close by.

I'd consider staying here again.

When we checked into this hotel, the main building that is used to check-in and for breakfast is separate from the building with the actual rooms. Our taxi dropped us off at the main building and we had to hike a good distance to another building with all of our bags to find our room. No help was offered.

Upon the third day of our vacation, I noticed several little bites on my leg. I have not 100% confirmed they are bed bug bites, but after reading extensively on it, I highly suspect it.

The shower was awful! The handle fell off when I tried to change the temperature. It also made a loud, motor like sound when the water was turned to hot. The shower head was not in good shape and didn’t have any pressure.

The floor of the bathroom, lobby, and elevators were all dingy, as were the walls too. Pictures attached show mold in the shower. The fridge needed defrosted and was rusty.

I asked the front desk a few questions about local transportation, but they were unable to answer any of those questions.

On our final day, we checked out and had to pay a “resort fee” of $18 per day. I don’t understand what we were paying for as there were no resort amenities available. There was a guy trying to sell time shares in the hotel commons one evening. The fountain in the pond was broken or turned off outside our window too. Trash littered the grounds. A broken tree branch was lying in the path the entire time we were there. Due to COVID staff are not cleaning rooms during the stay, so no clean towels or linens or new rolls of toilet paper unless you want to hike and go pick them up yourself. There was no air in the elevators or hallway. Our Uber driver told us a story about how he got stuck on an elevator in the building! Again, I have no idea what the $18 pays for—no amenities, no housekeeping, no help with activities or travel.

I have had good luck with Holiday Inns in the past, but there is no way I will be booking here again, although I do hope to visit Hilton Head again soon!

Our stay here wasn't necessarily bad but it was disappointing. The hotel is worn and shows its age. You're greeted by broken sliding doors in the lobby and stained walls by the elevator. The hallways are filthy but it's a beach hotel that allows dogs so be warned. The staff was constantly cleaning but could not keep up with everything. Our room however was immaculately clean and comfortable but once again, very worn, and there were no chairs on the balcony, weird. The location is great, plenty of restaurants and activities to walk to. You can park your car and not drive again during the rest of the trip and there was ample parking in the lot.

My main issue is that after taxes, resort fee, and room rate, I paid $425 a night for this place. That's way too high considering the state and services of the hotel. For that price you have to deliver a better product. I would stay again but never again at that price.

I stayed here for four days and had a great stay overall. First, these rooms have a great setup, especially for lots of fresh air during a pandemic: plenty of natural light in a nice setting with a pond and fountain, open air hallways, private balcony with sliding glass door, and personal a/c units vs. a central HVAC system. I opened my door to let the breeze in, wiped my room down, and very quickly felt safe. I took the stairs most of the time and rarely saw another guest. I did hear them (especially when upstairs rooms open and close their sliding doors, which is quite loud), but it was quiet during evening hours.

The walk to the beach access at Coligny was very quick and easy, and there are grocery stores and restaurants within a 5 minute walk also. Walking over to breakfast in the morning didn't bother me at all, but if you have mobility problems, you can easily drive over, there's plenty of parking.

There's definitely a problem with the hot water, as other reviewers have noted. I had a cold shower my first morning, and I heard my neighbors across the hall complaining about it as well. The front desk said there wasn't anything they could do besides change my room, but it would come back later in the day, so it didn't seem to be a room issue so much as the property is older and doesn't have a sufficient supply of hot water. I put up with it and showered later in the day when it was hot.

The property was good for an extended stay with a microwave and fridge in the room, and coin laundry near the stairwells of each floor.

Pros: Comfortable beds, nicely updated rooms, good hot breakfast, quick easy walk to the beach through a new park opened in December 2020

Cons: Shower and sink water would only sometimes get hot, very slow elevators

During your stay we did encounter a valve plumbing issue, which contributed to the lack of hot water you experienced. We tried to speak to every guest who was inconvenienced in this matter. Please call us at 843-842-6662 ext. 603. We always want to get it right, however when things out of our control happen, we want our guests to be informed and assured. We were happy to find a room on short notice for the Labor Day weekend. However, I now know why the hotel had rooms available...

The sink and shower was not clean and the general cleanliness of the room showed that a thorough deep clean has not been done recently. Granted, we slept in the ‘pet wing’ because we had our own pet with us, and were happy to pay extra because we appreciate the need for deep cleaning when pets stay over. However, I’m not sure what the money will be used for.

I will contact the facility with more specific feedback (including to recommend Sonia at reception for such excellent service!) but I will definitely not recommend this place to friends.
