Stayed here for work for 1 night. Spent the next 2 nights in Prince Albert to avoid this facility. Upon check in, everything was smooth. Lady at front desk seemed friendly, lobby was clean. Lots of parking for 1/2 ton and 1 ton trucks. Outside is dated and a little run-down. Outside access rooms are a bonus for hauling luggage straight in. Room was very dated, but reasonably clean. Toilet and tub could have used better scrubbing. The rooms defiantly need to be updated as does the bedding and furniture. First thing I tried to do was hook up to the internet. Internet connected, but I could not get any bandwidth (service). Thought it was only my computer. Co-workers all had the same issue, so we went down to the front desk and asked if there was any way we could get on internet for our work sheets. Lady at front desk immediately gave us attitude and said we had been in rooms too long for a refund- we said we did not want a refund, only a decent internet connection. She said it was our computers that were faulty and would not help us further. Another guest had the same complaint. As an internet connection is required for work, our company was very upset with the situation at this hotel.

On the plus side there was a Smittys close to the hotel, so we did not have to drive all over the place for diner. Got back and internet still not working. Very old and primitive air conditioner in my room worked, did not even start in two of my co-workers rooms. The worst part was that there was an odour that seemed to come from the bathroom, could not figure it out. Next morning I realized it was one of the bath towels. I did not shower, just left as fast as we could. Apparently our employer had an issue with the billing as well, they tried charging us for 5 rooms when there was only 4 rooms booked. Not sure if it got sorted out or not. We will be at the Travelodge from now on, or drive the extra way to Prince Albert as our boss does not want us staying here again.

Stayed here with four other families during a wedding weekend in November 2010. Found staff to be friendly and helpful. Rooms though older, were very clean and comfortable. Rates were good at about 60% of that of the Travel Lodge. Close to restaurants, liqour store, Canadian Tire and Tim Hortons. Smitty's restaurant within walking distance from same parking lot. Lots of parking space. Room came with fridge and microwave.

The only thing I can say about this place, it that is was clean. I am sure that the furniture has not been updated since it was built over 30 years ago. The internet didn't work. the room was cold and the only way the toilet would work, is if we took off the tank lid and wiggled the chain and stopper - every time. Hopefully Melfort will have more options in the future for travellers.

My husband and son stayed there on the weekend. They did not check in until after the front office was closed, they had to find the key in a hiding place. When they got into the room, there was no heat, and no one to help them. In the morning my husband informed them that they had went without heat, then my husband was charged full rate for the room, I wonder how much more than $87.95 you would have to pay if you had heat. When they got home they told me of their experience, I phoned and complained. The person I talked to said oh we will pay you back half your money, I just checked my account, $30.00 was put in our account. Lets see $87.95 divided in half = $30.00 NOT QUITE. I would not recommend for anyone to go near that place. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Carra Calls four nights and we were very pleased with our clean and well furnished room, as well as with the friendly and helpful staff. We would recommend it to any of our friends and look forward to stay here again during our next visit to Melfort. I can't believe that the negative reviews I read here, are true. Was they clumsy attempts at some sort of misguided humour?

We booked a room while in Melfort, at the Carra Valla Inn, while we were in for our daughters surgery. The room stunk like alcohol and stale wiskey-It was also right next to the ice room and some kind of heating plant and the noise was terrible-the heat was also awfull and the air conditioning was not working so it was a hot stinky night. The next day we went to take my daughter in to the hospital and when I returned @9 in the morning, they had already emptied my room(although checkout is at 11)-I complained and the very rude- I think she's female, owner at the counter told me that they thought we checked out already(although I still had the key)-I told her the room was awful and she said she hears that every day from the people who stay there, and thats just the way it is-Maybe she likes to live in filth but we do not-The room also was not cleaned properly and had old doritos under the bedside table-there was also burned out light bulbs and the mirrors were not cleaned at all-Please stay away from this motel-If I did not have my daughter with me I would have stayed in my van as it is a whole lot cleaner than the Carra Valla Inn in Melfort-Lousy non-exsistent service-stinky uncleaned rooms and terrible price all add up to the worst motel experiance I have ever had-We couldn't wait to get back home and shower after that horrible night.

I stayed there it was gross bugs coming up the sink drain and it stuck in there. Staff was rude when I told them bout the bugs, just like it was an everyday thing they did not try to reimburse me anything as that was what I had mentioned. Old and dirty furniture wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy

Before staying at this motel, I visited this site to check out some reviews and in the end decided to give this place a try. I found the place pleasantly surprising as the rooms were very neatly organized, allowing me to enjoy a very comfortable and relaxing stay. The staff and the man working at the front desk was very friendly, immediately providing me with any assistance that I needed. Overall, I recommend this motel for those who are looking for a cozy and comfortable place to stay.

We decided to stop at this place on a suggestion from my husband as co-workers stay here regularly. Upon arrival, the hotel looked nice. But as we investigated, the room was incredibly dirty. There was hair left on floor in bathroom from previous occupants and there was dog or cat hair on the chairs and carpet. We asked for a non-smoking room and the room smelled very smoky. This is an old hotel, not the cleanest, rugs were filthy, bed spreads reached the floor. The room was very hot, plus smoke smell piped in through their vent system.
We decided to leave the room at 4:00 in the morning because it was incredibly hard to sleep. When checking out, we had to wait long hours. There was no staff.
The day I checked out I noticed I had huge swollen bites all over my back and neck and arms. I went to my doctor at home right away and he said it was bed bugs. It is unfortunate because this hotel is a good deal and when I return to Melfort I will have to find another reasonably priced hotel.
VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Never again!

Oh my Goodness! This was not a good hotel to stay at. Decided to book here as the other hotel in Melfort was full and the new hotel is still being built. Hotel looked reasonable on check in. Guy at the front desk was probably new- but regardless was more interested in getting me to pay for the room first before I even told him my name. Room was dark and musty smelling. Loads of parking, however I had an allergic reaction to something in the room because I was sneezing like crazy. The walls, fixtures, beds and decor are all very dated and antique looking. Last renovation was probably in the 1980s. Crushed potato chips on floor between bed and wall. Bed was at least comfortable and hotel was quiet. A/C unit was taking its last gasp of life. Worn towels and unpredictable water temperature. Dropped my Hair elastic in the shower and bent down to find large wad of hair in the drain- sickening! Breakfast at Smittys in the parking lot was good. Went to my meetings. Got back @ 4:30- room was not made up. Went out again. Returned at 9 PM to a group of people on the other side of hotel courtyard swearing and drinking in the open. Guy at the front desk appears to believe this was acceptable. Room was still not made up. My co-workers stopped by and insisted I leave with them and share a room at the Travelodge. I reluctantly went with- Sharing the Sleepy Bear room with co-workers daughter was probably better than staying here. If I could change anything about this property, I would get more customer service oriented staff and at least work on a few updates for the rooms as well as a good scrub down for the whole place would do wonders. As a young girl I felt very uneasy staying here, something which does not happen too often. AVOID!
